The Outline tab displays only the text on each slide. You can use the Outline tab when you find it easier to enter presentation text similar to the way that you would create an outline in a word processor. To complete this presentation, you will need the following file: p01_Outline You will save your presentation as: Lastname_Firstname_p01_Outline 1. Start PowerPoint. Locate and open the file p01_Outline. Save the file in your PowerPoint Chapter 1 folder as Lastname_Firstname_p01_Outline 2. In the left pane of the PowerPoint window, click the Outline tab to display the presentation outline as shown in Figure 1. The Outline tab is wider than the Slides tab, providing additional space to type your text. The slide titles display in bold on the same line as the slide icons. 1. Start PowerPoint. Locate and open the file p01_Outline. Save the file in your PowerPointChapter 1 folder as Lastname_Firstname_p01_Outline

3. On the Outline tab, on Slide 2, drag to select the third and fourth bullet points—Probationary period and Evaluations—as shown in Figure 2.

When you select or edit text in the outline, the slide you are editing displays in theSlide pane.

4. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the Increase List Level button to applythe second list level to the selected bullet points.

5. On the Outline tab, click at the end of the last bullet point—Career options. Press J tocreate a new bullet point at the same list level as Career options, and then press F to createa second-level bullet point. Type Transfer and promotion

When you type text in the outline or change the list level, the changes display in theSlides pane.

6. Press J to create a new bullet point at the same level as Transfer and promotion, and then,in the Paragraph group, click the Decrease List Level button to assign the new bulletthe same list level as Career options. Alternately, press V + F.

7. In the Paragraph group, click the Decrease List Level button again and notice that anew Slide 3 is created as shown in Figure 3.

When the insertion point is positioned in the highest-level bullet point, a new slide iscreated when the Decrease List Level button is clicked.

8. Type Policies and Procedures and then press J.

Because the insertion point was positioned in the slide title, pressing J results in anew slide.

9. Press F to increase the list level and create a bullet point on Slide 3. Type the followingthree bullet points, pressing J after the first two. It is not necessary to press J after thelast bullet point.

11. On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click the Header & Footer button, and then click theNotes and Handouts tab. Select the Page number and the Footer check boxes. In theFooter box, type Lastname_Firstname_p01_Outline and then click Apply to All.

12. Click the File tab, and then click Print. Under Settings, click Full Page Slides, and thenunder Print Layout, click Outline to view the outline in the Print page. If you are directedto do so, print the outline.

13. Click Save, and then submit the printout or file as directed by your instructor.
