promoting a life-changing faith within a loving fellowship
Love your neighbor as yourself
The Gospel of John•Mark Burchette & Joe Noblitt•A101Have you ever thought that the Christian life is too difficult? How can I live out my faith at work? How can I be a loving parent? How can I be a godly husband or wife? How can I glorify God in all of these areas in my life when I fail so often? The answers to these ques-tions are found in the book of John. This Gospel teaches us that our only hope in this world and the next is Christ. John 15:5 says, “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” When we strive to live the Christian life on our own we fall flat on our faces. A fruitful life is produced when we abide in Christ instead of ourselves. Come and learn from John how to abide!
New Marriage Material: Communication•David Rountree•A211The overwhelming majority of couples that are married list communication as their number one marriage hurdle. Their number one problem is not sex or finances but how to profita-bly discuss their conflicts and disagreements about these and other things. Their number one problem is not respect, submission or love but how to keep conversations about those subjects civil and edifying. Their problem is not with fighting but with fighting well. For the marriage to be what it was intended the barriers of communication must be broken down and biblical communication learned. Come join us!
The Gospel of Luke•John Boyte & Patrick Miller•A213Join us for a chapter by chapter survey of Luke’s gospel. As a physician, Luke provides believers with a unique perspective on the life of Christ, as led by the Holy Spirit, he wrote a gospel in order that we might have “certainty concerning the things we have been taught.” Focus will be on the life and mission of Jesus and how the truths concerning Him practically apply to our lives today.
Capstone (9th-12th)•Matt Clegg & Rob Cord•B105 (Youth Room)A Biblical View of Poverty, Social Justice & Missions.
Cornerstone (6th-8th)Dexter Williams, Mike Settle & Owen Hall•A214“Into All The Earth-How God's covenant of grace extends to the Christian church.”

Graduation is Coming! We would love to recognize and honor our graduates from High School, College, and Graduate School at the conclusion of this semester on Sun-day, June 2 but we need your help to get it right. We need you to let us know who is graduating in your household. There is no source that com-plies this information so please let us know of any child, parent, relative or friend that may be a NCC member and graduating.
Please email Bailey with the name, institution and degree for all you know. Without your input we will get it wrong and people we want to love will go unloved, so please help us! Please send the information to [email protected] on or before Sunday, May 26.

Family FeastThe new quarter for our Discipleship Classes starts on Sunday, May 5th. We will celebrate that day with a family feast! To start with, you can feast on God’s Word by coming to a new class starting at 11:10am. We have three great new classes to choose from—Gospel of John, New Mar-riage Material & The Gospel of Luke. The youth also have some wonderful classes to attend (See the class descrip-tions on the back cover). The feast on God’s Word will be followed by a cover dish meal at 12:00 pm.
In order for this to truly be a feast, we are asking that each family bring enough food for themselves and another family. Please bring a main item, side item(s) and dessert. The drinks & serving utensils will be supplied by the church. An easy way to keep your meal warm during church and the dis-cipleship hour is by bringing a crock pot meal (there are many plugs throughout the church).
We are looking forward to feasting and fellowshipping for the start of the new quarter.
Make sure you put May 5th on your calendars today!

Fact: Classical education teaches children with the grain – complementing their developmental phase with the appropriate teaching method. The classical method is different from today’s conventional education. Parents are rightfully skeptical of anything that differs so boldly from the norm. However, classical education was the norm 100 years ago because it worked. Conventional education has taken an experimental approach to educating our children over the past four decades. Many different methods have been tried and later scrapped when they fail. This constant state of change in education creates an environment where anything traditional seems extreme. Unfortunately, this is where modern educational thought is upside down. Classical education provides a basic structure upon which we can build effective, successful students. We are not advocating an experiment. Rather, we are seeking a return to a system proven for over 1,000 years.

Where are you originally from?Originally from upstate New York, Leslie lived in Sequim, Washington, for most of her adult life, raising three children and running her chiropractic clinic. Jim was born and raised in Illinois and lived in California since age twelve. Jim worked as a tennis pro, doc-tor of chiropractic, and sales manager. Jim and Leslie moved to Anderson in February of this year to help Leslie's parents. What made you decide to join New Covenant Church?Jim and Leslie joined New Covenant Church because of its sound biblical doctrine, the Word as taught by Pastor David, and the church who made them feel welcome and at home from the first moment they walked in. How did you come to know the Lord?Jim was saved in 1991, when he realized that, although his life was filled with successes, people, and things, he felt a void in his life, lost and hopeless. He dusted off the Bible he had never opened and read Genesis and Revelation. Jim realized hope, joy, and fulfill-ment can be found only through the saving grace of Jesus. In 2011, Leslie was saved when an old boyfriend of hers called her up after twenty-one years apart and asked her if she was saved. Having heard the words but not knowing the meaning of "being saved," she replied, "apparently not. What does that mean?" He asked three simple questions: 1. Do you believe in God? 2. Do you believe that Jesus Christ was sent to us by God to be our Lord and eternal Savior? 3. Do you believe we are all sinners? Leslie got stuck on the third question. The next day, Leslie walked into the church she was attending and the scriptures read, about sinners, screamed at her. Leslie got it! She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and her thirst for the Word has been insatiable ever since. Within six months, Leslie and her old boyfriend, Jim Martin, were married. What are some of your hobbies?Leslie loves swimming, exercising, bike riding, playing tennis, hiking, reading, writing, and most of all, helping people. Jim loves music and playing golf, tennis, and drums. Where do you work/what do you do?Having left a satisfying job as a sales director for twelve years in California, Jim is cur-rently seeking a sales position in the area. He loves sales! Leslie's full time "job," or more accurately, "gift," is helping her parents. Having authored a healthy weight-loss book, she will continue to write. Whether she resumes her chiropractic work depends upon God's intentions for her and her parents' needs.
New Members...Welcome to the Family!

Why Vacation Bible School???▶ to conduct a week of special Bible in-struction for the children of our church,▶ to reach out to the children of unchurched families in the community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, ▶ to challenge believers to greater commit-ment as disciples of Christ,▶ to lay the groundwork for the church’s visibility and growth, ▶ to provide an opportunity for individuals in the congregation to be involved,▶ to foster joy through fellowship, fun and working/learning together,▶ to encourage the development and use of talents among those who staff the program.
ALL are invited to the Winner Circle Celebration!!To conclude our week of VBS & the Edge we will have an Ice Cream Social with toppings to make Ice Cream Sundaes. If you have a preschooler (completed K3 or younger), this event is a great time to come and see what VBS is all about.
