Family & Friends

Fellowship Feast October 30th ~ 12:00p

Come and join us as we celebrate all that we have learned during the last three months of studying God’s Word with a family and friends fellowship feast! To start with, you can feast on God’s Word by coming to a discipleship class starting at 11:10am.

The feast on God’s Word will be followed by a covered dish meal at 12:00pm. In order for this to truly be a feast, we are asking that each family bring enough food for themselves and another family. Please bring a main item, side item(s) and dessert. The drinks will be supplied by the church. An easy way to keep your meal warm during church and the discipleship hour is by bringing a crock pot meal (there are many plugs throughout the church).

College & Adult Discipleship Hour Classes

November through January 2016 • 11:10a - 12:00p •

College Discipleship Class Steve Andreasen & Jay Long • B108

College life can bring great joy for Christian students. This is the time of life when one is making some very important decisions. What is my life’s calling? What major do I

take to get me started in that calling? How does God want to use me while I am here? Who are my friends going to be? When will I meet my future spouse? These are excit-

ing times in your life but they also can be stressful. Doing things for the first time in college can be very exciting and fulfilling but sometimes can be a temptation for anxi-

ety. How do I react to a professor who is an atheist, evolutionist, sexist or socialist? What do I do when fellow students mock my Christian beliefs? How do I defend my

faith when my professors seem to be so sure of what they teach? James 1:2 says, “Count it all joy my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” God wants to give you great joy in your

Christian life no matter what you face in life. This class will help you to see how you can have great joy while facing the challenges of college life and growing to maturity in

Christ through the book of John.

Election - Chosen By God Mark Burchette, Dale Hardy & Joe Noblitt • A101

Provided in this class will be a helpful understanding of the biblical view of God’s election of sinners without destroying the freewill of man.

The Book of Revelation David Rountree • A211/213

There is a better, more consistent and accurate way to interpret prophetic scripture than using current events as stimulants. The Book of Revelation Discipleship Class

will include a study on the six main principles we should know and follow to interpret scripture accurately, with an obvious emphasis on interpreting prophecy in the Bible accurately. The four dominate views of the book of Revelation will be introduced to eliminate deception. And then we will seek to unpack the consistent message of the Book of Revelation paragraph by paragraph. The study of this book comes with the promise of blessing, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the

prophecy, and heeds the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revela-tion 1:3). The goal of this class will be to make the book of Revelation much less fore-

boding and much easier to love, cherish and apply. Come join us.

Welcome to the Family…

Zeb & Hannah Earley

Where are you originally from?:

Zeb - I am from Swannanoa, NC and my wife is from Cameron, NC. Hannah - I was born and raised in the small town of Cameron, North Carolina.

What made you decide to join New Covenant Church?:

Zeb -We felt the need to improve and strengthen our relationships with the people of God. We chose New Covenant because of God's truth being preached and His love being shared by the members. Hannah - My husband Zeb and I moved to Anderson, SC for work, and we were looking for a church that taught God's truth and shared His love. New Covenant Church has met those criteria, and we want to be a part of this family that seeks the Lord.

How did you come to know the Lord?:

Zeb- The Gospel was shared with me at a young age. "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." To see clearly the error of your ways, but also see the goodness of Christ forgiving you is powerful. I grew up in a Christian family and was raised in church. Answering an altar call one day, I professed my faith in Christ. Hannah - I came to know Jesus through the godly influence and teachings of my parents, extended fami-ly, and their churches. Through the years He has drawn me to Himself through His Word. Through college, and now work, He has shown me more of Himself by bringing different people into my life.

What are some of your hobbies?:

Hannah - I like to hike, read, garden, visit local coffee shops, and ex-plore farmers' markets.

Where do you work /what do you do?:

Zeb - I work at the Wilderness Way Girls Camp as a thrift store manag-er. It's a Chrisitian, non-profit organization helping troubled and strug-gling girls. Our thrift stores raise money to help the Camp operate. Han-nah - I work at a thrift store that raises funds for the Wilderness Way Girls' Camp. I do anything from running the register to sorting clothes and cleaning the bathrooms. I meet a lot of different customers, and have a chance to be a positive influence.

Heaven Mark Burchette, Dale Hardy & Joe Noblitt • A101

Have you ever wondered what heaven will be like? Will we recognize each other? Do we go to heaven right after death or is there a waiting place like purgatory? What is

sheol? What will our resurrected bodies be like? What will we do in heaven? Do peo-ple really go to hell for all eternity or are their souls annihilated? How can we prepare

for heaven? These are only a few of the topics that will be discussed.

FALL

Welcome to the Family…Daniel & Aidan Graves

Where are you originally from?:

Daniel- I was born in Sumter, SC and moved to Anderson when I was one year old. Aidan- I was born in Anderson, SC and have lived here my entire life.

What made you decide to join New Covenant Church?:

Daniel- When my family first moved to Anderson, we lived right across the street from New Covenant. My family visited the church and we fell in love with the community here and have attended New Covenant ever since. My parents and my older sister Rebekah be-came members, but my younger brother Aidan and I were too young to understand what it meant and waited until we had a better under-standing of what becoming a member in the body of Christ really meant before we joined the church. We\'ve both grown up here and been through Covenant Kids, Junior High, and (for me) Senior High. We\'re blessed to have been attending New Covenant for so long and we are glad to finally become members.

How did you come to know the Lord?:

Daniel- I came to know the Lord at a young age, when listening to my sister talk to my mom about her faith. So I, looking up to my sis-ter and terrified by the topic of hell, wanted to ask Jesus into my heart as well. I did not know exactly what I was doing at the time, but growing up with a great church family and godly parents helped me to quickly understand what being a Christian and living for Christ really meant. Aidan- In first grade at New Covenant, my teacher, Mrs. Burchette, was sharing our daily bible lesson. For the rest of the day, I could not stop thinking about the lesson. When I went home that day I asked my parents about Christ and prayed to receive Him as my savior.

What are some of your hobbies?:

Daniel- I enjoy everything sports, playing basketball for New Covenant School, watching Clemson Football, and spending time with my family and friends. I also love all activities with my great friends in the Senior High at New Covenant Church. Aidan- I enjoy basketball, reading, and playing video games with my brother.

Where do you go to school/what grade are you in/what is your favorite subject?:

Daniel- I'm a sophomore at New Covenant School, where I've been a student since kindergarten. I enjoy Math and History, but I really love New Covenant School and the community, led by the teachers, of people that care about you and your individual success. Aidan- I am student at New Covenant School. I am in the seventh grade. My favorite subjects are History and Latin.

New Covenant School

I attended New Covenant from first to third grade. I transferred to public school, but in eighth grade, the curriculum finally got to me. I had been learning a lot from New Covenant’s youth group and what I was being taught there was different than at school. I thought it unbeneficial to be taught one thing at school yet know it is not valid at the same time. One day at church, Mr. Canney started to talk to me about my plans for high school. I told him that I really wanted to go to New Covenant, but I didn’t know how because of the cost. He seemed surprised that I directly told him this. This is my fourth year back at New Covenant and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Even though I knew most of the people from elementary school, it was still scary to start over. I shouldn’t have worried, for the teachers and the students are so welcoming and loving. They truly care for you and all your endeavors. New Covenant’s education is so rich. Omnibus with Mr. Aubry and Mr. Canney made me think for myself on a lot of hard questions. Although it was not always easy for my family money wise at times, no one has ever pushed me away, but instead blessed me and helped my family. New Covenant has been so gracious and loving to me. When you come to New Covenant it becomes your home, partly because you’re there all the time and because New Covenant is a family. I plan to continue my Christian education at either AU or Covenant where I’ll study Business and Spanish. I am eternally grateful for all the teachers that have invested in me and sharing the wonderful gospel to me, my mother for allowing me to have a Christian education, and my friends for loving me and making me a part of the family.
