The Flagler Humane Society would like to remind all pet owners that Tick and Flea Season is here. Florida does not get cold enough to kill off the tick and flea population. Due to this, when it gets cooler the ticks and fleas are in search of a warm place to go. This is usually on your furry friend! Stop by FHS today and pick up some tick and flea products for your pets. FHS also offers heartworm prevention with a current negative heartworm test done at our wellness clinic or low cost vaccination clinic. Donation Opportunities: The Flagler Humane Society Thrift Store are always taking in donations. They currently cannot take in any computers/printers or large appliances at this time. They do offer pickup of any large furniture at your convenience. Call 386-597-2839 and leave a message. “Doghouse Donation Boxes” are found at all the fire stations in Flagler County. You can drop off donations anytime at your nearest fire station. FHS appreciates all donations, especially those from our Wish List (available at flaglerhumanesociety.org/wish-list). You can also purchase items via the Amazon.com link on the FHS website and ship them directly to the shelter. Outreach Adoption Events: Don’t forget that FHS have volunteers and adoptable pets at the Farmer’s Market in Flagler Beach every Friday and at PetSmart in Palm Coast every Saturday and Sunday. If you are interested in volunteering at these events, please contact Katie at [email protected]. Adoption Specials: Keep an eye on the FHS Facebook for upcoming Valentine’s Day adoption specials! Upcoming Fundraisers/Events: Our January Yappy Hour is getting close! This yappy is hosted by Snack Jack and will be held on January 31st from 3 pm – 5pm. is already neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He is
heartworm positive but that is no big issue! He is a snuggle bug that
thinks that he is a lap dog as you can see. He is great with other dogs,
tolerates cats, likes kids, and loves to snuggle down into a comfortable dog
bed. He is a quiet dog that has excellent house manners and is housebroken if you stick to his
schedule. Come and meet this sweet gentleman today.

Pink Army 5K raises $12,585 for mammograms, diagnostic tests for local women Palm Coast – Last fall’s Pink Army 5K was a huge success – raising $12,585.35 for Florida
Hospital Flagler’s breast cancer fund, which provides screening mammograms, diagnostic studies and education to qualified local people. Representatives of the hospital and the City of Palm Coast celebrated Tuesday with the presentation of an oversized check at the City Council meeting. Nearly 1,000 people walked or ran in the 5K, a one-mile support walk or the Kids Fun Run. The race, part of the Palm Coast Running Series, started at the hospital and looped through Central Park in Town Center on Oct. 11, 2015. Florida Hospital Flagler Chief Operating Office JoAnne King thanked the City for its partnership, and also thanked Chairwoman Helga van Eckert and the United Way Women’s Initiative. “The Pink Army is making a difference,” King told the City Council. “With these funds, you will see that women who perhaps would not have access to screening mammograms and such do get that access.” “Since the last 5K in October of 2014, 64 women received 81 different procedures – screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies,” she said. “And out of those 64, I have no doubt you saved a life. So on behalf of Florida Hospital Flagler, thank you.” Palm Coast Events Supervisor Ginger Parnell also recognized the hospital and Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation for their ongoing support of other special events offered by the City to encourage residents and visitors to be active and healthy. Those include the Senior Games, the International Festival and the Birds of a Feather Fest. Mark your calendars now – the 2016 Pink Army 5K is scheduled for Oct. 16. Join the Pink Army!
