Serial television drama is this year’s topic for the exam. Students will be tested on their

4. Audience

Students have currently been analysing TV dramas by looking at a range of techniques used

to constructs narrative, character roles and meaning to help appeal to a specific target

audience. They must be able to analyse mise-en-scene, camera techniques, lighting, colour,

sound and editing.

Revision

Activity

1 When we return after half term we will be examining the lead characters in a range of TV

serial dramas. Please research fully these characters. This is a continuation of the work we

have started in lessons where you have researched a range of dramas into a table. The

guidance for this was discussed in the last lesson.

2 The study of the different platforms (Netflix, TV etc) will be key to the exam. Please can

research which serial TV dramas are shown on which platform. This is a key revision topic

as it will form the core of your mock exam – understanding which platforms show which

dramas for which target audience.
