4 Start Diagnosis Software YDT

To start the diagnosis software, click on the icon on the desktop

5 Updating the new machine options

When updating the machine options, the received configuration file has to be saved on the service computer under “C:\ADWS_TRX\Data\Parameterfiles”. There should now be two configuration files on the disk drive, where the end of their file name dif-fers “_Vnn” to differentiate them. After selecting the control unit the diagnosis soft-ware tests the parameters of the latest configuration file, using the parameters saved on the control unit. If the parameter values do not match up, a user query will appear asking if the current machine configuration should be overwritten and saved onto the control unit. The user can confirm storing the configuration by clicking the green tick. After confirming, a pop-up window will briefly appear to confirm the configuration has been successfully saved. After that, the menu choose “Diagnosis setup” will appear.

User query asking whether to save the new configuration

6 Select and delete the faulty memory

The machine control unit (MCU) saves error messages of all the CAN communica-tions partners such as the AC unit, display, keypad and the engine control unit (ECU) and generates error messages though its own diagnosis of the input or output as well as functional faults. These diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) are stored in the error memory. A DTC can have four statuses: 1. Deleted: The DTC is unavailable 2. Active: The DTC is active and should be resolved 3. Seen: The DTC was active in the current power cycle but has been resolved and

is no longer available. 4. Stored: The DTC is not active, but it did arise in previous power cycles.

Select the error message menu

Select “Read error(s)” and click OK. After clicking, the error message menu should open.

Using the error message menu

The DTCs are displayed in a tree-view. A DTC node consists of the heading, contain-ing the meaning and the hexadecimal code value, with two further subnodes, de-scribing the DTC’s status and context. Click on the plus sign with the cursor to open the node and make it drop down. Click on the waste paper basket icon to start the delete procedure. The user must confirm a further user query given by the diagnosis software before all errors are de-leted. After deleting the errors, the user must click confirm again. After that, the MCU will store all current errors and transfer them to the diagnosis software, so that all ac-tive errors displayed. Once the error has been resolved, click the refresh button on the bottom right to test if the corrective measure has been successful. If the measure was carried out with-out activating the ignition starter switch, the status will change from active to “Oc-curred during this power cycle”. If the measure was carried out after activating the ig-nition starter switch, the status will change from active to stored.

7 Visualization of the inputs and outputs

For troubleshooting, the diagnostics software offers the option of displaying and graphically visualizing the inputs and outputs.

Selecting the visualization of inputs and outputs

Select “Read IO” and click OK. After clicking, a further selection menu will appear, which will offer an overview of more than a hundred inputs and outputs. In this overview, inputs and outputs are dif-ferentiated (IO type). The selection is as follows: 1. Universal inputs 2. Voltage inputs 3. Frequency inputs 4. WakeUp inputs 5. Internal 6. Positive-switching PWM outputs 2 7. Positive-switching PWM outputs 4 8. Positive-switching digital outputs 2 9. Positive-switching digital outputs 4 10. Negative-switching digital outputs 11. Supply voltage outputs The procedure thereafter is identical for the IO types. To give an example, let us look at the universal inputs.

Using the display screen

Operate „universal inputs“ The diagnosis software queries the MCU for the input values within a certain time frame. Depending on the IO type, different values are possible. For universal inputs, a voltage, resistance and binary value can be determined. The trigger thresholds of the binary values are set when starting the MCU. You can click Pause to put the querying of the diagnosis software on hold. If you click on it, the Pause button changes to a Play button, and the values are no longer up-dated. Use the left arrow button to return to the selection menu.

Click the graphic button to display the visualization. Here, you can select up to 3 val-ues. After confirming by clicking the tick, the selected channels are visualized on the display.

Using the graphic display

Using the “graphic display” As with the list display, you can interrupt the visualization by pressing the Pause but-ton. Click the Play button to restart.

8 Control outputs

When troubleshooting errors it is important to be able to switch the control outputs independently of the machine software. You can set the parameters of the software for this task in such a way that the control outputs are not controlled via the machine function, rather the software receives commands to manage the control outputs from the diagnosis software. The diagnosis software enables you to influence the switch output channel manually.

Selecting the control outputs

Select “Control Outputs” Click on the green tick. After making your selection, another selection menu will appear showing the different output types. The selection is as follows: 1. Positive-switching PWM outputs 2 2. Positive-switching PWM outputs 4 3. Positive-switching digital outputs 2 4. Positive-switching digital outputs 4 5. Negative-switching digital outputs 6. Supply voltage outputs If the output type has been selected and confirmed with the tick button you will arrive at the next selection menu that allows you to choose the switch output channel. Thereafter, the switch output channel screen is shown.

Using the control outputs

Using “Control Outputs” To leave the screen, click on the left arrow button. You can control the PWM outputs via the parameter frequency and the duty cycle. The digital outputs are controlled via the logical statuses “ON” or “OFF”. The entered values are stored when the Play button is pressed. The channel status is monitored by the diagnosis software. If an error occurs the output turns off. After successful ac-tivation, the diagnosis software shows the following dialog.

Control output channel activated

“Activation in progress” The Play button turns into a Pause button. If you click on the Pause button, you will return to the screen where you can reset the output values. Click on the left arrow button to return to the channel selection screen.

9 Replacing the MCU

If you need to replace a defective MCU, the diagnosis software offers support. To ini-tiate the replacement procedure, select the menu item “Replace MCU” and click the green tick.

Selecting ‘Replace MCU’

Select ‘Replace MCU’ and click OK. The service technician will now be guided through the replacement procedure by the diagnosis software, where he will need to confirm user information.

MCU replacement, new MCU detected?

Acquire new MCU and click OK. Once the new MCU is in place, confirm the user query dialog. After confirming, all re-sidually stored information, including configurations, error registers, operating hours, machine statuses and the most recent user settings, are read from the MCU and stored on the PC. The user will now be prompted to replace the MCU. If the replacement process should be interrupted, the user will be asked at the next startup of the diagnosis software whether they would like to proceed with the existing replacement procedure. At this point, the service technician can choose to cancel the procedure (the stored configuration will be deleted) or proceed with it.

MCU replacement configuration saved. Replacing the MCU!

Replace MCU and click OK. The next user query allows the service technician to cancel the replacement proce-dure by selecting the Cancel button. When a control device is next connected, the user will be asked if they would like to continue with the procedure.
