Principal’s News Dear Parents and Carers, What a tremendously huge effort our students have put into all of their performances over the past few weeks. Yesterday’s performances at the Leeton Eisteddfod were very impressive! Our students competed very well considering all the illness and student absence we have had this term. NAIDOC Activities We had a great start to Week 4 with Michael Lyons and his team from the Sandhills Artefacts joining us for NAIDOC activities. This was a combined small schools event and Wamoon Public School joined us for the day. Students were educated about traditional Aboriginal dance, food, art, storytelling and artefacts.

LNPSSA Athletics Carnival A reminder that on Monday, August 19th 2019 the LNPSSA Athletics Carnival will be held at the Leeton High School Ovals. Please make sure your child is aware of the events they are involved in from the information sent home. David POW Tabain School Visit On Tuesday afternoon our K-6 students had the opportunity to listen to Dave Tabain. Dave shared his thoughts on how students can overcome negative behaviour from others, why other students can sometimes be disrespectful and how to react if someone treats you in a way that it hurtful. It was great for K-6 to meet with Dave to learn more about how we can respect each other better.

Todd Woodbridge Tennis Nest Tuesday, August 21st 2019 Year 3 and Year 4 will have the opportunity to participate in the Todd Woodbridge event teaming up with students from Wamoon Public School. Please make sure your child returns their lunch order as soon as possible. Miss Wright will accompany the students on the day. If you are able to transport students to and from the event please record this on the permission slip. $5.00 Canteen Meal Deal A big thank you to Kim Evans for offering to prepare our weekly meal deal tomorrow. The time and effort of our volunteers is much appreciated. 2020 Kindergarten Transition Our student Kindergarten Transition program commences on Friday, August 30th 2019. Students commencing Kindergarten in 2020 will stay at school after Little Learners has finished for the day and spend the afternoon session in the K.1 classroom. K.1 are looking forward to teaching our transition students the skills they will need to prepare for big school.

The ‘Little Learners’ have been very busy the past couple of weeks. All students have enjoyed some of the new groups like new name writing and recognition activities, ‘playdough’ creations table and the ‘school’ role play area.

Last week, we talked about NAIDOC week and the upcoming NAIDOC activities at Yanco Public on Monday, August 12. We spoke about the Dreamtime and listened to ‘Tiddalick the Frog’ on the promethean board in the K1 classroom. The ‘Little Learners’ then made their own frogs and used their cutting, tearing and gluing skills to complete this activity.

Kindergarten transition will be beginning very soon – how exciting! For those who have expressed an interest in their child attending, forms were placed into your child’s bag last week to complete and return to the front office before the first day of transition (Friday, August 30th).

Over the past 2 weeks, Mrs Kroek and Mrs Milthorpe noticed…

• James exploring the dress up tub and finding a fancy pirate hat to wear. He really loved listening to the book ’10 Little Robots’ and was laughing with glee at the different sounds the robots made. James was a picture of concentration when painting his own robot with cotton buds.

• Sage making puzzles in the ‘school’ role play area and having a great time using the mini slide. • Azalea having a ball at the playdough table! She enjoyed using the dinosaurs to make tracks in her playdough.

Azalea was also excited to share with us that she has a new baby brother. We were all very happy to hear this beautiful news and extend huge congratulations to Azalea and her family from all of us at ‘Little Learners’!

• Lacey transforming into a magical fairy princess after a quick look in the costume tub. She gave her fine motor skills a workout by using little tongs to sort pom poms into cups of the same colour.

• Blayne becoming Ironman with a little help from the costume tub and completing name activities with Mrs Kroek. • Kruze being keen to complete his name puzzle, working very hard to put the letters of his name back together in

order. He was also very excited to find the Buzz Lightyear costume in the costume box! • Blayne and Kruze eagerly loading up the giant red semi-trailer toy from the transport tub. • Charlie happily playing with the dinosaur land. He is always smiling during activities and his bright and cheery

nature is very contagious! • We recently welcomed Ruby to ‘Little Learners’. She was a picture of concentration while completing the magnetic

maze activity. She loved exploring the dollhouse with Hettie and was even keen to stay longer at the end of the day last week! We are so happy you have joined and are enjoying your time with us Ruby!

• Hettie working her fine motor skill muscles by using little tongs to put ‘buttons’ (pom poms) onto gingerbread men shaped pieces of paper. Her creations were very beautiful and colourful!

• Genevieve enjoying our name writing time. Not only does she write her own name, she loves having a go at writing all the other Little Learners’ names!

• Bella trying her hand at the floor puzzle she found when she looked in the puzzle tub the previous week. It was a tricky puzzle, but she never gave up!

• Max using his imagination at the playdough table and making some impressive towers using the blocks as well. He took great care when painting his robot picture during our art time.

• Zeke happily showing us his special toy, his blue monster truck. Zeke always gives all the activities a go but he especially enjoyed playing with the dinosaurs last week and covering them in playdough.

• George playing with the Buzz Lightyear toy. George was particularly excited when he spotted that Ruby had a ‘Toy Story’ lunch bag and was keen to chat to her about it. He told us Buzz was his favourite ‘Toy Story’ character and Ruby said her favourite was Woody.

Have a great weekend everyone!
