Yanco Public School Main Avenue, Yanco NSW 2703 Phone: 02 6955 7162 - 0436 691 944 Thursday, September 20, 2018 Dear Parents and Carers, Well done to our Yanco Public School students Caitlin Maltman, Stephania Cuteri, Mia Edwards and Rhiannon Jagers. It was reported back to the school that you all performed very well in your sections of the annual Premier’s Spelling Bee. It is not easy to stand up in front of a crowd and spell those sometimes very tough words correctly. Each of our students participated in the following rounds: Caitlin Maltman: Round One Stephania Cuteri: Round Two Mia Edwards: Round Three Rhiannon Jagers: Round Four 2018 Naplan Results A note was sent home earlier this week to our Year 3 and Year 5 parents and carers informing you that your child’s NAPLAN results will be sent home today. Please take note of all of the information included in the envelope. Please discuss the results with your child and as stated earlier in the week teaching staff will analyse the results to look at areas students need to build their knowledge and understanding in the classroom. Please also discuss the positive results your child has made in their NAPLAN results this year. If you wish to make an appointment with Miss Grigg regarding these results please contact the Front Office. End of Term Reward Day Next Thursday, September 27 th 2018 students will participate in end of Term 3 reward activities. Students from Yanco Agricultural High School will run a tabloids activity afternoon for the students who are invited to attend the Reward Day activities. Students participating will also receive lunch as part of their reward. An invitation letter will be sent home early in Week 10. No Hat, No Play As the weather starts to warm up it is important that your child/ren are wearing a school hat at recess and lunch time also during sport and garden activities. Students must wear their school uniform hat NO SPORT CAPS ARE TO BE WORN. LNPSSA or Riverina caps can be worn for morning before school play however, school uniform hats must be worn for the latter part of the school day. Student Effort Report Cards Tomorrow your child’s effort report card for Term 3 will be sent home, included with this report is an individual learning support note to highlight the areas where your child has been given extra support in their learning in Semester One and Semester Two so far. Interviews are not taking place for the Term 3 effort checklist report however, if you wish to make an appointment with your child’s teacher please contact the Front Office. Music and Art Report Visual Arts Last fortnight Stage 2/3 began their new Visual Arts topic, "Trash to Treasure". We have been busy working on pencil tins made from recycled magazines. This project is quite a lengthy one and will see the students gaining fine motor skills and weaving skills. We can't wait to show you pictures of the end results next week. Keep bringing in your recycled goods. A big thank you to everyone who has bought some already! At this stage we are needing more egg cartons, plastic bottles (even just bottle lids) and newspapers. Music I recently attended a fantastic Music Training Day in Wagga based on a new program that has been released called "Vocal Ease More". The students have been enjoying some new activities that I learnt from this course. This fortnight we have been focusing on Beat and learning the song "Rubbish Rap" which is very fitting with our new Art Unit. Students are having so much fun! Natalie Murphy
