Principal’s News Week Six Over the weekend Mr Allen had an operation on his knee and is hoping to come back to school as soon as possible. Once again Mrs Cronk and Mrs Farrell have taken on extra duties to ensure the smooth running of the day to day timetable. We all wish Mr Allen a speedy recovery and look forward to him returning to school in the near future. Book Fair A big thank you to Mrs Cronk and Mrs Haines for running the Scholastic Book Fair this week. There were lots of wonderful books, posters and stationery items for the students to purchase. Thank you to parents and families for supporting the book fair. It is great to see so many students enthusiastic about purchasing and reading their own books! Practicum Teacher This week we welcome Mrs Gina Haines to Yanco Public School. Mrs Haines is working with Mrs Keen in the 3-6 classroom. It is great to have Mrs Haines here with us to be part of our daily activities I am sure the students will enjoy having an extra helper in the classroom and playground. Student Lunches In the past couple of weeks all students have been spoken to about the importance of only eating their food that comes from their lunch box. There have been some instances where students are swapping food as well as throwing uneaten lunch items into the bin. Please discuss this with your children and let your teacher know if there are any problems.

Mrs Wiggins’ Warty Melons
What I thought of the story…
I liked the story because they came up with a new idea, they decided to plant watermelons. Mrs Wiggins always says Warty melons. Everyone always grew potatoes on their farms. Mrs Wiggins decided to grow watermelons instead.
I thought the story was funny. Ralphie the goat looked through a kaleidoscope at night acting like he could tell if it was going to rain but all he could really see was shapes. I thought it was clever when Ralphie used his horns to dig the rows for the watermelon seeds.
Mrs Wiggins made coats for the watermelons and the coat buttons popped off the jackets onto the iron and Ralphie thought it was hail on the roof. The watermelons had grown really big. The town was happy, everyone started to grow watermelons.
