Following this two-game series that completes a home-and-home with the White Sox (also July 18- 19), Los Angeles travels to Detroit for three games to close out their slate against the American League, before playing Pittsburgh four times next week at PNC Park. With Sunday’s victory, the Dodgers moved a season-high 18.0 games ahead in the National League West, before wins by Arizona and Colorado last night knocked the lead back to 17.5. Prior to this season, no Dodger club in franchise history had owned a lead of more than 17.0 games. The Dodgers are just 9-14 vs. Chicago since the clubs first met in 2003. Los Angeles is 5-7 at Dodger Stadium, with the clubs last meeting at Chavez Ravine in 2014. Los Angeles swept Chicago in a two-game series July 18 and 19 and is 12-3 vs. the AL this season (7-1 at Dodger Stadium). The Dodgers own the best record in baseball with an 83-34 mark (.709), 11.5 games better than the Astros, and also hold the best record in the NL through 117 games since the 1944 Cardinals, who went 88-29 (.752) through 117. The Dodgers have won 48 of 57 since June 7, which is the best 57-game stretch in franchise history and the best in the Majors since the 1912 New York Giants, who last went 49- 8 from April 24-July 3. According to STATS LLC., just five teams have ripped off 48 of 57 or better in baseball history since 1900: the 2017 Dodgers, the 1912 Giants, the 1906 Cubs, the 1985 Chicago White Stockings and the 1884 St. Louis Maroons. The Dodgers have won 28 of their last 32 games at Dodger Stadium since June 7, including winning 10 of their last 11 games at home, and hold the best home record in the Majors with a 49-14 (.778) mark. Los Angeles currently ranks fourth among NL’s all-time best home records since 1913, trailing just the ‘75 Reds (64-17, .790), the ’53 Brooklyn Dodgers (60-17, .779) and the ’42 St. Louis Cardinals (60- 17, .779). According to Stats LLC., the Dodgers’ 28-4 stretch at home is the best in the Majors since 1998, when the Yankees ripped off a 29-3 stretch from June 1-Aug. 14. A victory this evening will give the Dodgers three consecutive seasons of at least 50 home wins for the first time in franchise history. The Dodgers’ +208 run differential is the best in the Major Leagues, 56 runs better than the Astros and the club is 28-5 (.848) since July 4. SIMPLY THE BEST: The Dodgers lead the Major Leagues with a 3.12 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP and a .223 opponents’ batting average, while leading the NL in strikeouts (1,112). Los Angeles has also walked the fewest batters in the bigs, issuing just 305 free passes. Wood is 14-1 in 20 games (18 starts) this season, posting a 2.37 ERA (29 ER/110.1 IP) and is holding hitters to a .205 average. The southpaw has been the best in the business at preventing the long ball this season, as he has only allowed 0.49 homers per nine innings (6 HR/110.1 IP) this year, which is the best mark among ML starters (min. 75.0 IP). He also ranks among the best in the NL in ERA (3 rd ), opponents’ batting average (3 rd ) and strikeout per nine innings (9.46, 10 th ). Wood has never faced the Chicago White Sox, but is 3-5 with a 2.60 ERA (20 ER/69.1 IP) in 15 career games (10 starts) against the American League. The native of Georgia has not made an Interleague appearance this season. BELLI OF THE BEAST: Dodger rookie sensation Cody Bellinger went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk on Sunday, one game after belting his 34 th home run of the season on Saturday night. Despite being called up on April 25, the All- Star first baseman/outfielder currently ranks among the best in the National League in home runs (34, 2 nd ), slugging percentage (.620, 2 nd ), RBI (79, 10 th ) and OPS (.972, 7 th ). Since the All-Star break, Bellinger has reached base safely in 22 of 27 games and has posted a .308/.374/.625 slashline with 18 runs, four doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 21 RBI and three stolen bases. THESE DOG DAYS SURE ARE FUN: The Dodgers tonight

continue their five-game homestand (2-1), after claiming another

series victory on Sunday, this time over the Padres, running their

series record to 16-0-3 since June 8. Following this two-game series

that completes a home-and-home with the White Sox (also July 18-

19), Los Angeles travels to Detroit for three games to close out their

slate against the American League, before playing Pittsburgh four

times next week at PNC Park.

With Sunday’s victory, the Dodgers moved a season-high

18.0 games ahead in the National League West, before wins

by Arizona and Colorado last night knocked the lead back

to 17.5. Prior to this season, no Dodger club in franchise

history had owned a lead of more than 17.0 games.

The Dodgers are just 9-14 vs. Chicago since the clubs first

met in 2003. Los Angeles is 5-7 at Dodger Stadium, with

the clubs last meeting at Chavez Ravine in 2014. Los

Angeles swept Chicago in a two-game series July 18 and 19

and is 12-3 vs. the AL this season (7-1 at Dodger Stadium).

The Dodgers own the best record in baseball with an 83-34

mark (.709), 11.5 games better than the Astros, and also

hold the best record in the NL through 117 games since the

1944 Cardinals, who went 88-29 (.752) through 117.

The Dodgers have won 48 of 57 since June 7, which is the

best 57-game stretch in franchise history and the best in the

Majors since the 1912 New York Giants, who last went 49-

8 from April 24-July 3. According to STATS LLC., just five

teams have ripped off 48 of 57 or better in baseball history

since 1900: the 2017 Dodgers, the 1912 Giants, the 1906

Cubs, the 1985 Chicago White Stockings and the 1884 St.

Louis Maroons.

The Dodgers have won 28 of their last 32 games at Dodger

Stadium since June 7, including winning 10 of their last 11

games at home, and hold the best home record in the Majors

with a 49-14 (.778) mark. Los Angeles currently ranks

fourth among NL’s all-time best home records since 1913,

trailing just the ‘75 Reds (64-17, .790), the ’53 Brooklyn

Dodgers (60-17, .779) and the ’42 St. Louis Cardinals (60-

17, .779). According to Stats LLC., the Dodgers’ 28-4

stretch at home is the best in the Majors since 1998, when

the Yankees ripped off a 29-3 stretch from June 1-Aug. 14.

A victory this evening will give the Dodgers three

consecutive seasons of at least 50 home wins for the first

time in franchise history.

The Dodgers’ +208 run differential is the best in the Major

Leagues, 56 runs better than the Astros and the club is 28-5

(.848) since July 4.

SIMPLY THE BEST: The Dodgers lead the Major Leagues with a

3.12 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP and a .223 opponents’ batting average,

while leading the NL in strikeouts (1,112). Los Angeles has also

walked the fewest batters in the bigs, issuing just 305 free passes.

Kenley Jansen recorded his 32nd save Sunday (2nd, NL) and

has recorded 30+ saves for four consecutive years (2014-

17), becoming the only pitcher in the big leagues to record

30+ saves in each of the past four seasons.

FEASTING ON THE JUNIORS: The Dodgers’ 12-3 record in

Interleague is due in large part to two offensive standouts:

NL Players, 2017 – Highest Interleague Batting Average

(minimum 40 PA)

Gerardo Parra, Col .452

Paul Goldschmidt, Arz .425

WINNING WOODY: The Dodgers will send All-Star left-hander

Alex Wood to the mound tonight for his 19th start of the season as

he looks to pad his already career high win total and become just the

second pitcher in baseball this season to earn at least 15 victories

(Clayton Kershaw). Wood is 14-1 in 20 games (18 starts) this

season, posting a 2.37 ERA (29 ER/110.1 IP) and is holding hitters

to a .205 average. The southpaw has been the best in the business at

preventing the long ball this season, as he has only allowed 0.49

homers per nine innings (6 HR/110.1 IP) this year, which is the best

mark among ML starters (min. 75.0 IP). He also ranks among the

best in the NL in ERA (3rd), opponents’ batting average (3rd) and

strikeout per nine innings (9.46, 10th).

Wood has never faced the Chicago White Sox, but is 3-5

with a 2.60 ERA (20 ER/69.1 IP) in 15 career games (10

starts) against the American League. The native of Georgia

has not made an Interleague appearance this season.

the third pitcher in baseball history to finish a season with

15 or more wins and one or zero losses. The southpaw

would join the Pirates’ Roy Face (18-1, 1959) and the

Indians’ Johnny Allen (15-1, 1937).

BELLI OF THE BEAST: Dodger rookie sensation Cody Bellinger

went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk on Sunday, one

game after belting his 34th home run of the season on Saturday night.

Bellinger is tied with Ryan Braun (2007) and Walt Dropo (1950) for

the 12th most home runs in a single season by a rookie, one back of

Hal Trosky (1934), Rudy York (1937), Ron Kittle (1983), and Mike

Piazza (1993), the latter of whom he is chasing for the Dodger

franchise rookie record. Despite being called up on April 25, the All-

Star first baseman/outfielder currently ranks among the best in the

National League in home runs (34, 2nd), slugging percentage (.620,

2nd), RBI (79, 10th) and OPS (.972, 7th).

Since the All-Star break, Bellinger has reached base safely

in 22 of 27 games and has posted a .308/.374/.625 slashline

with 18 runs, four doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 21

RBI and three stolen bases.

WE LOVE YOU TOMMY: On this date 20 years ago, the Dodgers

officially retired Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda’s No. 2.

(1981, '88), four National League pennants (1977, 78, 81, 88) and

eight division titles. The skipper will turn 90 next month.
