Words from Wang
Once upon a time, in the mid to late 1800’s the community of Wilmot developed and
some years later, a Methodist society formed. Those early settlers met in homes and were
served by circuit riders and local preachers who worked other jobs during the week.
By 1870, people began to talk about building a church building, and land was acquired. It took
6 more years, however, before the construction actually began in June of 1876. In November
of that year, the building was completed and dedicated.
90 years later, in 1966, the building addition housing classroom and office space was
completed and dedicated.
We are here today because of the faith, hard work, and dedication of many who have
gone before us. On November 3, All Saints Sunday, we remember and lift up some of the
names of those who have gone before us in the faith. We celebrate our communion with all of
the saints. We give thanks for their lives and their faith and their dedication to the church.
As we remember and celebrate the past, we need to think about the future. How will we
continue the legacy of those who have gone before us? In a very different age, how will we live
out Christ’s call to make disciples? How will we express our faith? How will we dream God’s
dream and let God’s vision shape our ministry?
As we move toward the season of Advent – a season of anticipation and expectation, we
also move toward a time of anticipating and visioning what the next year will look like in our
congregation. We plan budgets and ministries and worship opportunities, and we ask you to
think about how you will be involved in that; how you will help us to live out God’s call and our
faith in this place and time. How will you participate as we continue the legacy of faith our
ancestors left to us?
Please prayerfully consider how you will give of yourself, your resources, and your time in the
weeks and months ahead. Together we can make a difference in this community and beyond.
Peace,
Pastor Judy
TIP FOR GOING GREEN:
Going out to eat? “No straw please.”
(Come on, you know how to drink from a cup!)
LOVE OF CREATION Portion sizes too much? Bring your own container to take home leftovers. I keep one in my car at all times. (That’s why we carry giant purses, ladies!) No more single use Styrofoam/Plastic/Cardboard. Set an example for others to see!

SHALOM TO HOME UPDATE – OCTOBER 2019
It has been exactly one year since the 6 Methodist churches joined together in
offering their support to the Shalom to Home program. We are proud of the
accomplishments of that brief period. In total, we have assembled and donated 138
bath, kitchen, and cleaning kits. This means that 46, previously homeless, families
have felt our love and concern as they leave the Center and begin their lives anew.
With an expected annual requirement of 60 sets (180 kits), the job is not done, it has
just begun. Because of this continuing need, and the generosity demonstrated by our
various churches, we have committed to meeting this entire annual need. It is our hope that you will con-
tinue your selfless support. In doing so, not only will you feel the joy of helping the less fortunate, you will
know that you are truly doing God’s will.
Program Coordinators - Jim Lura and Ann Bradshaw
