Unless otherwise noted, all details refer to the server and not to the clients.</p> <p>1</p> <p>1.1 ObjectivesLights-Out - The name says it all. Description This Add-In is used to put a Windows Home Server 2011 into suspended mode or hibernation and resume on user defined events.</p> <p>Mode of operation Lights-Out monitors ( running. see page 63) several sources for activity. As long as one source signals activity, the server is kept</p> <p>When monitoring detects no more activity, the server is disabled. For more details on monitoring please read the how-to. A non active server can be activated using Wake-On-Lan (WOL). Lights-Out comes with a client application ( resumes. see page 53) which can be used to start the server when the client boots or</p> <p>Additional functionality The Add-In visualizes the activity ( see page 28) of the selected sources. So you can easily identify what keeps your server running.</p> <p>Client actions Lights-Out adds control to your clients ( see page 33).</p> <p>2</p> <p>1.2 End user license agreement</p> <p>Lights-Out</p> <p>1</p> <p>WHS 2011 Web access Lights-Out includes a web page ( see page 59) for remote access.</p> <p>Remarks Data integrity To reduce the risk of data loss, the server is never put into sleep during an active backup operation or a backup cleanup. You can define services, which are stopped on suspend and restarted after resume.</p> <p>3</p> <p>Lights-Out</p> <p>1.2 End user license agreement</p> <p>1</p> <p>1.2 End user license agreementEnd user license agreement Description You can evaluate Lights-Out for Windows Home Server 2011 for a period of 30 days. When the evaluation has expired, Lights-Out goes into Community Edition mode. In this mode, Lights-Out is free for personal use. To use the full functionality, a license is required. A personal or a commercial license has the same functionality. A personal license This license permits the use of Lights-Out on Windows Home Server 2011 in a private, personal environment or any non profit organization. A commercial license This license is required when you use Lights-Out on Small Business Server 2011 Essentials and Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials or Windows Home Server 2011 in a business environment or a commercial organization. By installing, copying, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. Evaluation versions available for download from AxoNet Software GmbH's websites may be freely distributed. (c) Prohibition on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, and Disassembly. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation. (d) Rental. You may not rent, lease, or lend the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. (e) Support Services. AxoNet Software GmbH may provide you with support services related to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT ("Support Services"). Any supplemental software code provided to you as part of the Support Services shall be considered part of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and subject to the terms and conditions of this EULA. (f) Compliance with Applicable Laws. You must comply with all applicable laws regarding use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. 3. TERMINATION Without prejudice to any other rights, AxoNet Software GmbH may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT in your possession. 4. COPYRIGHT All title, including but not limited to copyrights, in and to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and any copies thereof are owned by AxoNet Software GmbH or its suppliers. All title and intellectual property rights in and to the content which may be accessed through use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is the property of the respective content owner and may be protected by applicable copyright or other intellectual property laws and treaties. Workaround: resize the Dashboard You cant load an existing Windows Home Server v1 Lights-Out license into this version. Lights-Out for WHS 2011 requires a new license file. Client GUI application is not started automatically after first client push installation. Workaround: Run via Start-&gt;All Programs-&gt;Startup, Lights-Out Client or log off and log in again. Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials wakes up every 30 minutes by Server Infrastructure License Service (silsvc). This bug is logged in Microsoft Connect under ID 642301 and 669083. Important: Close Dashboard before you start your installation!</p> <p>Lights-Out is delivered as a standard .wssx package and is installed as outlined in the documentation for Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011. Click on the task "Update the add-in" (2) to open the update dialog (3) which directs you to the download site.</p> <p>2</p> <p>When a new version is available, download the .wssx file on a client and execute these steps.</p> <p>An update is essentially an uninstall followed by a new install.
