Events & Festivals at The Edge
Based in a former Sunday school in
Chorlton, The Edge is a little theatre with
big aspirations. The 70 seat venue is
both a receiving and a producing house,
with a particular interest in theatre for
children & familes, musical theatre
and new writing.
The Edge, which also houses
rehearsal rooms and workshop spaces,
is fast becoming a unique space to see high quality,
small-scale, great theatre from around the country.
This autumn we have an exciting range of
performances and activities especially for
children & families.

Luna - Theatre Hullabaloo & Theatr lolo21 October10.45am & 1.30pm | Ages 2-5 | £7/5*
Luna is bored up in the sky by herself with nobody to play with. Although she is surrounded by stars, they never quite understand her – it’s certainly lonely being the only moon.
One night, as she’s racing amongst the stars, she spots a young
boy hiding from shadows which move like monsters on his
bedroom walls. Luna decides to slide down from the sky to make
friends with the boy. Together they go on an adventure of light and dark to
help him overcome his fears of the nighttime.

RED. It’s the colour of blood. The colour of life…and death. It’s vital – maybe that’s why the story keeps drawing people back to the telling and retelling of it.
There are so many written versions of Red
##(!))~ ,)'."Ð,).",-,#''to Charles Perrault, that have all mingled
together in our collective imagination to
form the version we think we all know, that it
-'$/-.q(.).% 1&#,.#-1#."the story and add in a few quirks of our own.
We did lots of reading around
the story, at how it has been
interpreted over the ages,
elements of which have found
their way into our story – for
some, it’s the story of a young
girl’s journey into adulthood; for
others it’s a myth explaining the cycle of the
seasons, of the sun (red riding hood) being
eaten by a wolf to create winter, but then
being reborn unharmed in Spring, or of day
following night. And like all folktales it has
a dark heart. It addresses some pretty epic
themes – it concerns itself with death and
re-birth, trust and betrayal, fear and bravery.
So we thought we’d better make it a bit
silly, too. Just so we weren’t TOO scared.
As in all of our work, the story is right at the
heart. And to tell it we use all of the tricks
that we know – masks and puppetry, music
and silence, lights and darkness, silliness and
intensity, visual poetry.
