He will take the lead with lameness cases and elective surgery at the hospital and as the first purely hospital based clinician here at Western Counties heralds an exciting new phase not only for the practice but for equine veterinary care in the South West. David qualified from University College Dublin in 2003, before travelling to New York State where he worked for four years in equine veterinary practice. Subsequently returning to Ireland he established his own equine ambulatory practice, focusing on imaging and treatment of sports and performance horses. He has just completed an ECVS large animal surgery residency programme at UCD. David is highly experienced across all areas of equine surgery and orthopaedics and will bring additional expertise to the existing team and further enhance the quality of service that we offer to you and your horses. His arrival will provide our regular clients with an experienced pair of hands at the hospital at all times should the need arise and give time for Chris and Simon to spend more time out on the road to visit our regular practice clients as part of the ambulatory practice side of the business. NEW PRICING STRUCTURE FOR VACCINES AND TEETH The Equine Practice part of Western Counties is continuing its policy of affordable veterinary care and has been successful in securing some excellent savings on our vaccine costs and these we are now able to pass on to our clients: Flu and tetanus £35.00 (inc. VAT) Flu £30.00 (inc. VAT) Tetanus £20.00 (inc. VAT) In addition to these reductions our dentistry costs for a routine teeth rasping is now £45.00 (inclusive of VAT) We would like to inform our active clients that not only do we have competitive prices on our routine vaccines and dentistry but all work carried out on your horses here in the Hospital also now attracts significant discounts compared to horses referred to the Hospital by other veterinary practices just produce your practice priority card at the time of appointment PRACTICE CLIENTS PRORITY CARD We will shortly be sending out to our active clients a special Priority Card for which will entitle you to significant discounts on a range of Hospital services from 10% to 50% compared to the amount charged to cases referred to us from other vets.

NEW XRAY MACHINE

X-ray machine: The new wireless DR x-ray machine has made an immediate impact for horses and their owners, making the taking of the x-rays very convenient for horses who need to be seen at home with images easily available for vets and farriers when required.

We work closely with many farriers taking the guess work out of trimming and foot balancing.

Please contact us if you and your farrier would like us to visit to assist in this regard.

EXTENDING OUR FREE VISIT POLICYFOR OUR ZONE ONE CLIENTS

For our Zone One Clients we have extended our free visit policy to each weekday (Monday to Friday)

CLIENT EVENING UPDATE

The April Client Evening covering all aspects of the Older Horse was very well attended with the team and clients thoroughly enjoying the talks given by Simon Joyner and Harry Caldicott.

Our second client evening for 2016 will be on Tuesday 11 October and this will include our Annual Bursary Awards so please pop this date in your diary.
