From the EditorDear friends,Rotary Club of Quilon West End is entering its twelfth year of dedicated humanitarian service to the society. It is quite heartening to note that our club has grown from strength to strength in the last eleven years. At present the
Club, under the astute and dynamic leadership of Viju Vijayarajan, has reached the zenith of its glory. Congratulations to Viju and his team for making our club the best in the District. Now we are all looking forward to the leadership of Rtn Deepak Somarajan, with the highly experienced Rtn S.Muraleedharan as Secretary and a host of dedicated Rotarians getting warmed up to share their knowledge and experience with the new President.I wish all the best to the new team of Rotarians who are all set to LIGHT UP ROTARY.
Rtn MPHF YS Prakash
Dear fellow Rotarians,
While I was nominated as the President Elect of the Rotary Club of Quilon West End for the year 2013-14, I was not that much serious about my assignment. But as the days came nearer and nearer for my installation, I became aware of my responsibility of serving this prestigious club, with two distinguished Past District Governors and ten illustrious Past Presidents in its roll, as its eleventh President and an urge to act genuinely came to me from within. As I expected, I
started receiving encouragement from my fellow Rotarians right from the first day and their words of wisdom and encouragement motivated me so much that I decided to serve the Club with unflinching commitment. Standing within my limitations, I strove to keep the Clubs flag fluttering high. To a certain extent, I managed to succeed. Now I consider myself the luckiest president of our club, as our Club has been acknowledged the BEST club in RI Dist. 3210.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to all the members of our family, particularly PDG KPR, PDG Dr George, my mentor P.A.Subramonian, Secretary Varkey Jacob, Treasurer YS Prakash, Editor S.Muraleedharan, all other members of the board, particularly M.Ajit Kumar for the cooperation they have been extending to me.
I know that I had my own shortcomings. If at any time, I have caused any discomfort to any member, kindly bear with me. Lapses on my part, if there were any, may please be condoned.
I am indebted to my family- Maya, Vismaya and Vaishnav-for their whole-hearted cooperation throughout this year. Maya joins me in thanking you all and in wishing all the best to Deepak and his team.
Throughout this year ,along with all the members of the club, I have been ENGAGING Rotary so as to CHANGE LIVES.
Viju Vijayarajan
President's Message
Outgoing President's Message
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
It is the first time in the brief history of our club that our club has swept all the major awards in our district including the best club of the
district. President Viju, through his commitment and hard work, has catapulted our club to higher levels, previously considered impossible. Hence it is my first and foremost duty to thank President Viju, Rtn. Maya Viju and all the team members who have worked together to make this possible.
Taking over the reins of the club from President Viju is a difficult task, when you think of the achievements of the past year. But then, change is the order of nature. If you consider this not as a mountain to climb but as a

help you plan meticulously for your year. A good planning of your activities will take you half the way to a successful year. I assure you all the assistance required in the administration of your club and the District Secretariat is geared up to respond to any call from you. We are dreaming for a District with clubs having members more than 20 and achieving a net growth of 20% membership. It is my lofty desire that your club achieves Every Rotarian Every year 100$ status. I advise you to start working on a plan that will earn for your club Citation by R.I. President .Also give emphasis on District Project, RAEY (Rotary Alternative Energy), and Focus Projects during the year.Wishing you and all the members of your club all the best for a purposeful and eventful Rotary year ahead,Yours in Rotary service,K.S. Sasikumar
stepping stone and a launching platform, things will come into perspective.
Hence as the new President of our club I intend to use these fruits of hard work from the previous year in a positive manner to further the causes club stands for. I believe that bigger achievements are possible if all our members come together and work as one unit. My priorities for the year include improving attendance, identification and effective implementation of service projects etc. By encouraging individual members to identify service projects for the needy in their neighbourhood, the club will have a wider a range of influence in the area of community service. The importance of TRF contributions will be highlighted and will be encouraged in a bigger magnitude.
Building up new leaders from our club is another aspect which needs to be given priority. With a very young and talented group of members, it is proposed that various programs be conducted by the young and upcoming leaders of our club.
The goals I have set for this year may be tough to meet but I am bestowed with an excellent team of office bearers by the past leaders of our club. With their help I am confident that we can achieve all our goals this year. This my dear friends is the best way to respect and recognize the achievements of our past leaders.
Thank you.
