,,МИ, РІД ВІРНИЙ...”

Приближалися часи терпінь і смерті Ісуса Христа. постоли були засмучені і розгублені.Щоб додати їм відваги і віри, Ісус переображується перед ними на Горі Тавор,показавши Себе в світлі Божественної слави.

А тим часом внизу, під горою, панувало занепокоєння. Апостоли не могли оздоровити юнака епілептика. Ісус, зійшовши з гори,оздоровив його. На запитання апостолів, чому вони не могли його оздоровити, Ісус відповів їм: ,,Через вашу малу віру.” При цьому Він хвилювався і дорікав: ,, Роде невірний і

розбещений , доки Я маю бути з вами?” Ісус характеризує віру такими словами, які звучать для нас неймовірно: ,, Істинно кажу вам , коли

матимете віру , як зерно гірчиці , скажете цій

горі перенестися звідси туди — і вона перенесеться , і нічого не буде для вас

неможливого.” Так сказав Ісус, бо бачив недовіру апостолів.

Виникає запитання: ,, Якою є наша віра? Що значить вірити?” Християнський катехизм навчає нас: ,,Вірити, значить, приймати за правду все те,що Господь Бог об’явив і Свята Церква навчає”.Правди християнської віри є Богом об’явлені.Деяких правд людина не в змозі зрозуміти навіть після їх відкриття Богом. Тому їх просто треба приймати ЯК ДОГМУ, на віру. Пригадаймо, що Ісус Христос ніякої іншої чесноти не домагався так, як віри, ніякої іншої чесноти не хвалив так,як віру і за ніяку іншу хибу не дорікав так, як за невірство.

Віра — це точка, у якій людина зустрічається з Богом, або розходиться, залежно від того, чи вона вірить, чи не вірить. Жива віра — це життя вповні узгоджене з правдами віри; як віриш — так і стараєшся жити!

“WE ARE A BELIEVING PEOPLE…”

The time of suffering and death of Jesus Christwere fast approaching. The apostles were sad andconfused. In order to give them courage and faith,Jesus is transfigured before them on the Mount of Tabor, showing Himself in the light of God’s glory.

At the same time, at the foot of the mountain, panic reigned. The apostles could not cure a youngman afflicted with epilepsy. Jesus, coming downfrom the mountain, cured him. Later, the apostlesasked Jesus in private why they could not cure theyoung man. Jesus answered them: “Because you

have so little trust.” Jesus then continued: “What an

unbelieving and perverse lot you are! How long must I remain with you?” Jesus explained faith in wordsthat echo to us through the ages: “I assure you, if you

had faith the size of a mustard seed, you would be

able to say to this mountain, ‘Move from here tothere,’ and it would move. Nothing would beimpossible for you.” Jesus spoke in this manner because He saw the lack of faith in the apostles.

The question arises: “What is our faith like?What does it mean to believe?” Christian catechismteaches us: “To believe means to accept as truth allwhich the Lord God has revealed and the HolyChurch teaches.” The truths of Christian faith arerevealed by God. Some truths an individual cannotunderstand even when God explains them.

Therefore, simply, we must accept them ASDOGMA, on faith. Let us remember that JesusChrist did not stress any other truth as much as faith.He did not praise any other truth as much as faith andHe condemned nothing as much as faithlessness.

Faith is a point at which the individual alignswith God or rejects Him, depending on whether he or she believes or does not believe. Living faith is a lifelived in accordance with the truths of faith. The

Святий апостол Павло пише: ,, Багато разів і

різними способами говорив Бог , давно через пророків до отців , а в ці останні дні говорив до нас через Сина.” (Євр. 1, 1). І тепер промовляє до нас у святих храмах через Святе Євангеліє.Господь Бог ніколи не перестає говорити до людей, до кожного зокрема. Бо, ЧИМ Є СУМЛІННЯ в душі кожного із нас? БОЖИМ ГОЛОСОМ, який каже, що є добре, а що зле; радить і застерігає; хвалить і докоряє. Що ще нам потрібно, щоб ВІРИТИ???

Хто відкидає Божі правди, робить це для

того, щоб звільнити себе від обов’язків, які накладає віра. В житті — це вигідно йому. Але я к и м б у д е к і н ц е в и й р е з у л ь т а т з такого ,,вигідного” життя, прожитого для себе і за своїми законами? Ще не було такої людини,яка закінчуючи життя, шкодувала б про те, що жила по-християнськи. А скільки було таких, які відходячи — гірко каялися, що вони в житті не служили Богові, на суд до якого відходять.Амінь.

in which you strive to live your life!The holy apostle Paul writes: “In times past,

God spoke in fragmentary and varied ways to our fathers through the prophets; in this, the final age,

He has spoken to us through His Son.” (Hebrews 1,1). And now He speaks to us in churches through theHoly Gospels. The Lord God will never stopspeaking to His people, to each individually. Think,WHAT IS CONSCIENCE in each of our souls? It isthe VOICE OF GOD telling us what is right andwhat is wrong; advising and warning; praising and

reproaching. What more do we need IN ORDER TOBELIEVE???Those who reject God’s truths do so to free

themselves from the responsibilities which faith brings. This is convenient for them. But, what will bethe final result of this “convenient” life, lived for oneself and according to one’s own commandments?There has not been one person, laying on theirdeathbed, who regrets living a Christian life. But,there are many who regret that, in life, they did notserve God, as they face His final judgment. Amen.

Предавній, загальний і глибокий культ Пресвятої

Богородиці у Східній Церкві залишив особливий слід передусім на нашому літургійному році. Церковний рік не тільки багатий на різні Богородичні празники,але він також ними починається і завершується, його починає празник Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці, а завершує їі славне Успення, що в наших літургійних книгах має таку величну назву Успення Пресвятої славної Владичиці нашої Богородиці і Приснодіви Марії .

Хоча празник Успення нагадує нам про сумну подію смерти, все таки він належить до радісних празників. Богослуження празника Успення повне

радісних і веселих гимнів. Цього дня свята Церква радіє, бо Пресвята Богомати з тілом і душею перейшла з туземного життя до вічної слави Свого Сина, та що з їі Успенням ми одержали в небі могутню Заступницю і Покровительку.

Most Ноlу Mother of God

God, and we praise your all-glorious Dormition."

The very ancient, universal and profound cultof the Most Ноlу Mother of God left а special mark,

above all, іn our Liturgical Year, which is not only

rich іn the variety of feasts honoring Магу, but

begins and ends with her feasts. The Liturgical Year

opens with the Nativity of the Mother of God, and

closes with her Dormition (і.е., her falling asleep),

which in our liturgical books is also called, "The

Dormition of the Most Ноlу Glorious Lady our

Mother of God and Ever - Virgin Магу" . Although the feast of the Dormition reminds

us of the sad occasion of death, nevertheless, it

belongs to the joyful feasts. The service of the feast іs fillеd with hymns of

joy and gladness. Оп this day holy Church rejoices

because the Most Ноlу Mother of God was

transferred body and soul from this earthly life to

join her Son іn eternal glory; because of her

Dormition we have а powerful intercessor and

protectress іn heaven.

У четвер, 20 серпня розпочинається 2009-2010навчальний рік в школі св.о. Миколая. Д в е р і ш к о л и гостинно відчиняються о 7:30, всі учні, від 1 по 8 клас збираються і залі, де зустрінуться із своїми учителями і ними запроваджені до класних кімнат. Заняття в класних кімнатах розпочнуться о 8:00. Всі разом візьмуть участь в Святій Літургії на благословення шкільного року о 10:00. Заняття закінчаться об 11:30. Обідy в школі не буде.

ВСІ учні МУСЯТЬ мути одягнені в повну

шкільну форму вже від першого навчального

дня 20 серпня.

Пятниця 21-го серпня і весь тиждень від 24-го по 28 серпня заняття проводитимуться повний навчальний день. Закінчення о 2:30 пополудні. В ці дні учні повинні приносити сніданки з собою,бо їдальня працювати не буде.

Всі оплати слід здійснити до 1 вересня.Шкільну канцелярію буде відчинено від понеділка 18-го серпня до 21 серпня від 9:00 до 1:00 пополудні. Від 24-го серпня буде відчинено від 8:00 до 3:00 пополудні щоденно. Дошкілля і Садочок стартують від 31-го вересня і працюватимуть в годинах 8:00 - 11:00 до 5вересня. починаючи з 8-го вересня закінчення занять буде о 2:20.

The 2009-2010 school year

begins on Thursday, August20, 2009. The school doorswill be open at 7:30 a.m.ALL students from grades 1to 8 should come to theauditorium where they will be met by their teachers andtaken to their respective

classroom. Classes will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.The opening of the school year will begin withDivine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. Dismissal will be at

11:30 a.m. NO lunches will be served. ALL students MUST be dressed in full

regulation uniform beginning with the first day of

school August 20th.

Friday August 21st will be a full day of schooland the week of August 24th through the 28th will bethe first full week of school. Dismissal will be at2:30 p.m. During this time students will need to bring a lunch from home, there will be NO lunchservice these first days.

ALL fees and the first tuition payment are due

by September 1st. The school office is opeThursday August 13th through August 21st from9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and beginning August 24thfrom 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pre-Kindergarten andKindergarten will start Monday, August 31st at 8:00a.m. and be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. throughSeptember 4th. Confessions are heard on Sundays during each Liturgyor by appointment.

Baptisms should be arranged through a priest at least onemonth prior to the date of baptism. Parents and sponsorsmust attend instruction prior to the baptism of their child.

Marriage: Couples planning to marry are requested tomake their arrangements early, but no less than six (6)

months in advance of the proposed date. Pre-maritalconferences must be arranged six (6) months prior to theceremony. At least one of the couple, or their parentsshould be registered participating members of St. Nicholas Cathedral for eligibility to be married in thecathedral.

Sick & Homebound: If you or a family member areconfined to home and are unable to attend Liturgy either temporarily or on a continuing basis, and wish to receivecommunion, please notify the parish office.

Hospital Stay: If you or a family member are admitted

to a hospital for any reason and wish to have a priestcome to visit, please notify the parish office. Recentfederal privacy laws do not allow hospitals to notify the parish if you are admitted. It is the responsibility of the patient or family to notify the parish office.

The New Star is our monthly eparchial newspaper and

has information from all our parishes as well as fromUkraine. The subscription cost is only $20.00 per yearand can be paid in the parish office.

Вашої родини, з будь яких причин, є на лікуванні в лікарні й бажає щоб священик його відвідав просимо повідомити про це парафіяльну канцелярію. Федеральний уряд законом про втримання таємниці (privacy law) , не дозволяє лікарній адміністрації давати знати парафії . Це є відповідальністю паціента або його родини.
