Subject overview:During these sessions, students are learning to read and comprehend different types of texts. These could include books, videos, newspaper articles and everyday texts.

We need to encourage students to understand the texts they are reading and understand why it is important to read. This makes their learning purposeful and meaningful to them.

What am I learning? To learn about what gratitude is and why it is important to be practicing it every day.

things that make it hard for you to feel grateful?

1. Watch Youtube video on “Gratitude”2. Have a discussion with student about what gratitude is and why it is important to be practicing it every day.3. Brainstorm with students to create a Gratitude mood board to put up in their room/learning space that they

can refer when they are feeling ungrateful. They can use pictures or write a list of things to answer the prompts provided (“Reading and Writing Resource 5”). Refer to examples provided:

4. Students may use magazine pictures, photos, to use on their mood board. Alternatively, they can use a Powerpoint presentation using images from the internet.
