    WARNINGS

Read and understand all instructions for proper installation and use of this product as improper use of this product may lead to serious injuryor death.

To remove the cabinet from the pallet for final placement, ensure the pallet is located on a level surfaceand remove the four (4) bolt-dow n brackets. Once removed, be sure to use sufficient personnel to safel yremove the cabinet from the pallet . To aid in avoiding this potential i ssue, removal all doors and sidepanels to reduce the overall weight of the cabinet.

NOTE: These four (4) bolt-dow n brackets can also be used as stabil izing brackets once thecabinets are in their final position within the Telecommunications Space.

Obtain adequate assistance to stabilize the cabinet during movement. Do not attempt to move largecabinets wi th a single person. All equipment must be unloaded from cabinets prior to movement.

Temporary TransportOptional castors are available for relocation of cabinets. W hile castors are capable of supporting a fullyloaded cabinet, they should only be used to move the cabinet between locati ons. W hen relocating cabinetsusing castors, they must be moved with extreme care as they may tip if they experience sudden stops, excessive force, or travel over irregular surfaces. It is recommended to move the cabinet using the front orrear of the cabinet as the leading edge do not push on the sides. Once in place, the leveling feet (andbolt-down brackets) shall be fully deployed to offer maximum stability.

A standalone cabi net should be level, st able, and anchored to the f loor. Tw o or more cabinets can bebayed together (coupled) to enhance their st abilit y. Each cabinet should be anchored to t he floor.

Before loading equipment in the cabinet, be sure to adjust the leveling feet to level the cabinet. Do not use casters to stabilize the cabinet; always anchorthe leveling feet or the cabinet frame to the floor.

Alw ays load the cabinets such that the heaviest equipment (e.g. UPS units, large

enterprise switches) is located at the lowest point in the cabinet and add lighterequipment on higher levels. This will serve to further reduce the potential risk ofcabinets tipping over. Utilizing the bolt-dow n brackets w ith also help in this regard. The same consideration should be taken when and if shelving is deployed withinthe cabinet especially w hen using sliding shelves as loads placed on themdestabilize the cabinet when extended from within the confines of the cabinet.

The Maximum Load Capacity o fthe cabinet should not exceed 1000kg (2205 lbs.)

The M aximum Anticipated Ambient Temperature inside a fully loaded CabinetSystem is (10C - 60C).

The Enclosure Cabinets are intended to be installed in accordance with the applica-ble requirements of the Nat ional Electrical Code and the local Authoriti es HavingJurisdiction (AHJ).

The Minim um spacings between the accessories and components and the EnclosureCabinet shall be maintained for safe operation of the equipment when installed inaccordance w ith the N ationl Electric Code.

The V-POD cabinet can support many equipment configurations. The amount of force required to tip or destabilize the cabinet differs with eachconfiguration. Be sure to read and follow your equipment manufacturers specific assembly, installation, and safety instructions.

W hen servicing slide-mounted equipment (e.g. servers, KVM sw itches), secure all equipment, other than the unit being serviced, in position to preventthem from inadvertently slidi ng out and destabilizing the cabinet. Also, be sure to extend only one sliding unit at a time as the extension of multiple unitsmay result in the cabinet tippi ng over. W hen extending sliding units, do so slowl y as quick extension of these units can also cause the cabinet to tip over.

For protection of the equipment and personnel, ground each cabinet individually as per applicable regional industry standard such as the

Telecom muni cati ons Equipm ent Bonding Conducto r (TEBC) or Signal Reference Grid (SRG). Each V-POD cabin et comes equip ped wi th mul tip lebonding locations as well as a Door Bonding Kit that consists of a (#12 AWG Wire) and associated mounting hardware (see page 12 for DoorBonding Kit installation information).

As with any grounding and bonding concerns, the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) has the final approval as to what is consideredcompliant for a specific installation.

NOTE: Cabinet bonding locations can be further augmented wit h the addition of a grounding bus bar such asSiemons V-POD grounding kit (p/n VP-GRD) which off ers an ANSI-J-STD-607-A compliant t ap point f orgrounding and bonding of the cabinet as well as any equipment installed within the cabinet.

    CAUTIONS

Both the front and rear doors of the V-POD cabinet offer the unique ability to hinge open from either theleft or right. This is achieved by turning the associated door handle inw ards. W hen both handles areexercised at the same time, the door is released from the cabinet. W hile this facili tates easy removal ofthe doors, it can also result in damage to the doors or hinges if precautions are not taken. Be sure toalways check the status on one handle prior to operating the other and handle all doors securely duringremoval.

When remounting doors, be sure to properly align and reinsert the hinge pins in the applicable hingegrommets. If the hinge pins are not reinserted properly, the door could fall off the next time it is opened.

When removing side panels from cabinets, be aware that they are very large and extra care should betaken when handling to avoid personal injury or damage to the panel.

When remounting side panels, be sure that the panels are inserted into the proper rectangular openings ofthe lower side panel support bracket and that the locking clips located at the top and middle of the paneldoors are fully engaged (see page 11 for Side Panel installat ion informat ion).

Proper management of cables plays an important role in helping to reduce obstruction of proper air floww ithin cabinets. Cables should be managed behind patch panels in a manner that prevents them fromencroaching upon any horizontal equipment mounting spaces. Such spaces should remain as open as possible to maximum f ront-to-back air flow w ithinthe cabinets.

NOTE: M anagement of cables and airflow can be further enhanced by using Siemons V-POD Vertical Cable M anagement Trays (p/n VP-TRAY)which is an accessory item that provides multiple points of cable management between bayed cabinets.

NOTE:Component Servicing - Defective units should be repaired by personnel trained by the manufacturer, or returned to the manufacturer for

    repair or replacement.
