more about this honor
and to see what he had
going on in the facility.
He told us “I am honored
to have been selected. I
owe thanks to my nomi-
nator and to those who
wrote letters supporting
my nomination. It’s also
worth noting that a lot of
the activities and accom-
plishments on my resume
reflect my involvement
with SENYLRC and oth-
er professional organiza-
tions over the years.
Since I have basically
been a solo librarian all
of my career, connecting
with and learning from
other professionals in this
way has been crucial to
my success.”

The state-of-
the art
exhibits, archives and museum are
now open every day to the public
and are not to be missed!
For the first time since its founding
in 1941, the FDR Presidential
Library has undergone a complete
renovation. On Sunday, June 30th,
the building was re-dedicated in a
ceremony under a tent on the field
next to the
library.
Among
those who
were pre-
sent to
speak on this
occasion
were Archivist of the United
States, David S. Ferriero, Con-
gressman Chris Gibson, State
Senator Terry Gipson, and Presi-
dent and CEO of Roosevelt Insti-
tute Felicia Wong. FDR Director
Lynn Bassanese and Chair of
Roosevelt Institute Anna Eleanor
Roosevelt, welcomed the guests
and speakers.
The moving keynote address was
given by Roosevelt biographer
Geoffrey C. Ward, who spoke on

On June 7, members of SENYLRC
met for the 46th annual meeting of
the Council at the beautiful Locust
Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Despite the rainy summer day, spir-
its were high. Members were wel-
comed by John Shaloiko and
Stephan Macaluso, who jokingly

After the business meeting was
concluded, Rebecca Edwards of
Vassar College presented a
keynote speech about the
surprising history and stories of
the Underground Railroad in the
Hudson Valley. Rebecca Edwards delivers the
keynote speech.
SENYLRC also honored outgoing
Board Members Jon Grennan and
Muriel Verdibello with “Read”
posters, which become part on our
hall of fame in the SENYLRC
conference room.
