TEACHINGS OF QUR’AN

“The Mu’minoon are but a single Brotherhood.” (The

Holy Qur’an, 49:10)

“The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of

another: they enjoin the ma`roof (all of Islam), and forbid

the munkar (all that is evil; kufr): they observe regular

prayers, pay Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On

them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in

power, Wise.” (The Holy Qur’an, 9:71)

“And they prefer (the Muhajirin) above themselves

though poverty become there lot.” Al-Hasher [59:9]

Page 16: Unity, brotherhood in Islam

TEACHINGS OF QUR’AN

Those who join in the worship of Allah produce a

Brotherhood that embodies the best moral values of the

faith: Mercy, compassion, fear of Allah, piety, and justice.

It is a Solid Cemented Structure [As-Saff, 61:4]

a tremendous force in the service of Right and against

Wrong. Its members are to help each other in

righteousness and piety but not in sin and rancor [Al-

Maida 5:2]

Page 17: Unity, brotherhood in Islam

TEACHINGS OF QUR’AN

They are to be "strong against unbelievers but compassionate

amongst each other [Al-Fat-h 48:29].

When giving commands regarding the Islamic Brotherhood, the

Qur'an uses a beautiful style with a profound message. Instead of

saying, "greet each other" it says, "greet yourself." [An-Nur 24:61].

Instead of saying, "do not defame each other," it says, "do not defame

yourself." [Al-Hujurat 49:11]. Instead of saying, "do not kill each

other," it says, "do not kill yourself." [An-Nisaa 4:29]. The message is

clear: Whatever is happening to others in the Brotherhood, is actually

happening to yourself. Any aggression against any part of the

Brotherhood is an aggression against all of it.

Page 18: Unity, brotherhood in Islam

TEACHINGS OF QUR’AN

Without doubt the believers are brothers of one another so then

make peace and harmony between your brothers and have

consciousness of Allah so that maybe He will show you mercy

“And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out

for you) and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with

gratitude Allah’s favour on you for ye were enemies and he joined

your hearts in love, so that by his grace, ye become brothers; and ye

were on the brink of the pit of fire, and He saved you from it”. Al

Imran [3:103]

TEACHINGS OF HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H)

Muhammad (Salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam) indicated in

several Ahadith on unity and brotherhood as we can see in his

(saaws) Farewell Sermon (khuTbat ul-wadaa`):

“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority

over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an

Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black

has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.

Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that

the Muslims constitute one brotherhood.”

Page 20: Unity, brotherhood in Islam

TEACHINGS OF HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H)

“A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not

oppress him, nor does he leave him at the mercy of others."

(Sahih Muslim Book 032, Number 6219)

The Prophet said, "None of you will have faith till he

wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself."

(Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 12)

Page 21: Unity, brotherhood in Islam

TEACHINGS OF HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H)

"It is sufficient evil for a Muslim that he should look down

upon his brother. The life, wealth, and honor of a Muslim

are inviolable by another Muslim." [Sahih Muslim].

They do not do injustice to others nor do they tolerate any

injustice to themselves. In their love and concern for each

other, all members of this Brotherhood are one body: when

any part of the body suffers, the whole body feels the pain

[Sahih Muslim]

TEACHINGS OF HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H)

“Each of the Refugee was bound to one of the Helpers in a bond of

brotherhood. Fellow-felling and love on which this new brotherhood was

founded, found wonderful expression. Each one of the Helpers took a

brother Refugee home with him, placed half his house at his disposal and

equally divided all his goods and chattels with him”[4. Muhammad Ali,

Maulana “Muhammad The Prophet” Pg 204, 205]

“It is sufficient evil for a Muslims that he looks down upon his brother.”

[Al Tirmizi, Muhammad Bin Eesa “Al Jamae Ul Sahih” Kitabul Bir o Silah

Ann Rasullallah(S.A.W), Bab Ma Jaa’ fee Shafqatul Muslim Ala Muslim

1927 Vol .4, Pg 325 ]

TEACHINGS OF HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H)

Ibn Abbas reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as

saying: the person who eats his full and the neighbour in his

surroundings is hungry is not Muslim”[Khateeb ul Tabreezi, Muhammad

Bin Abdullah “Mishkat ul Masabih”Kitabul Adab Babul Shafqat o Rahmat

Alal Khalaq 4772 Pg 452]

Abu Musa reported Allah’s Messenger (May peace be upon him) as

saying: A believer is like a building for another, the one part supporting

the other.[Bukhari, Muhammad bin Ismaeel “Sahih Bokhari Sharif”

Kitabul AdabBab Tawanul Momaneen Bazoohum Bazan 966 Vol.3, Pg

TEACHINGS OF NATIONAL LEADERS

Come forward as servants of Islam, organise the people

economically, socially, educationally and politically and I am

sure that you will be a power that will be accepted by

everybody.[Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah]

Our object should be peace within, and peace without. We

want to live peacefully and maintain cordial friendly

relations with our immediate neighbours and with the world

at large.[Muhammad Ali Jinnah]

TEACHINGS OF NATIONAL LEADERS

“Democracy is in the blood of Musalmans, who look upon

complete equality of manhood [mankind]…[and] believe in

fraternity, equality and liberty.” ― Muhammad Ali Jinnah

“The great majority of us are Muslims. We follow the teachings of

the Prophet Mohammed (may peace be upon him). We are

members of the brotherhood of Islam in which all are equal in

rights, dignity and self-respect. Consequently, we have a special

and a very deep sense of unity. But make no mistake: Pakistan is

not a theocracy or anything like it.” ― Muhammad Ali Jinnah

SHEIKH SA’ADI said:

The Children Of Adam are related to one

another,

And in their creation, they are all from one

essence.

If one part of the body falls into pain and

suffering,

then all other parts of the body are also

affected.

PERSIAN POETRY

If mine & your intelligence were enough,

Then why has ALLAH commanded us to consult(one

another)?

We must resonate the proof that:

“The hand of ALLAH is with the congregation”.

Since by being with the community,

The strong hand has a longer reach.

Page 33: Unity, brotherhood in Islam

SAYINGS OF GLOBAL LEADERS & AUTHORS

“When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.” ― Winston Churchill

“The Destiny of Man is to unite, not to divide. If you keep on dividing you end up as a collection of monkeys throwing nuts at each other out of separate trees.” ― T.H. White
