Sample Materials – Hand drawn drafts

Hand drawn drafts – here are my ever first hand drawn drafts for my Front Cover and Double Page Spread. The reason why I have done this so I have a rough idea of where things are going when I start constructing my work.

Sample Materials – Magazine layout (Photoshop)

Magazine layout (Photoshop) – I have created a simple layout for the magazine before importing all the ideas that I have already have from my rough sketches to be able to make the process quicker and simpler for me edit. As you can also see I have used the ruler tool so everything is aligned to each other. Lastly, added important measurements to the pages by measuring out the bleed around the pages.

Sample Materials – Draft Interview

Draft Interview – I have done a draft interview in a word document so it is easy for me to edit if the artist wants to add on into the interview or delete anything. Moreover, knowing how much space I need in the double page spread when the draft interview is ready to import into the text column.

Sample Materials – Hand drawn drafts

Hand drawn drafts – these are my hand drawn drafts for my magazine ideas. As you can see there are similarities and differences between the hand drawn drafts. I have done this because I want to produce a music magazine that has its own originality into it. For example, the colour scheme, the suitable area to layout certain feature in the magazine etc.

Sample Materials – Graphic layout

Graphic layout – here are the electronic version of my hand drawn drafts that I have created through Photoshop. The reason why I have done this so that when I start bring in the information into Photoshop it will be easier for me to detect what information goes in the boxes.

Sample Materials – Draft PagesDraft Pages – before making the final edits of the magazine, I have imported all the information's that I need within the front cover and the double page spread. I have done this so it is easier for me if there are any adjustment to be done. For example I have changed where the strapline suppose to sit within the masthead but I have seen that it would not work as it is not readable for the consumer and now it sits underneath the masthead. Test Photography

Here is my test photography. The reason why I have created a test photography is to have a varieties of images that will fit for purpose into my magazine such as my Front Cover and

Double Page Spread.

House Style/Colour schemes (Tune iN)

House Style – For the house style, I will be using a verity of fonts styles, logos and the tone of language. Firstly, with the type of font styles that I am going to, they are:

• Times New Roman – cover lines and skyline • Century Gothic – masthead, web address, title, brand identity and other verbal codes

surrounding the magazine. • Brush Script Std – strapline • Myriad Pro – text, stand first, key facts text, social media site of the artist • Impact – quote relates• Arial – puff promotion• AIGDT – page number

The tone of language of my magazine will be a mix of informal/formal language as I want to keep originality from the artist. The connotation behind this

Colour Schemes –The colour scheme that I am going to use across the pages is a shade of blue to connote truth, confidence, loyalty and intelligence. The reason behind this is that I want my spectator to have faith on my music magazine and as an editor I would like to give my target audience the privilege to go through the magazine pages without disappointing them. Moreover, I will achieve this in Photoshop by using the ‘Eye Dropper’ which means by using this tool I have the option which allows me to pick up the exact colour or an average of the colours around it.

Format (size) of the magazine

The format (size) of the magazine will be a standard A4 size on a hard copy. The purpose of having an A4 size music magazine is you can fit into your bag easily when you don’t want to carry it and it is just the right size. However, there is also going to be a digital copy of the magazine, for example tablets, smartphones etc. I have included this so my target audience has the choice of where to view the magazine.

There is going to be a price for each services. The hard copy will cost £6 because of printing and P&P, whereas digital copy will be a lot cheaper as it will only be 50p for subscription of each magazine as it does not have a lot of process to go through compare to the hard copy.

House Style/Colour Scheme (Beat)

House styleThe house style of Beat magazine will be red, black and yellow. The reason why I have chosen red is because it brings energy, desire and passion into the magazine which means a passionate belief in an issue or undertaking. Moreover, the colour black ‘signifies’ (De Saussure) hidden, secretive and unknown, and as a result it creates an air of mystery which I want for my Beat magazine. Lastly, with the colour yellow it defines the mind and the intellect. It is optimistic and cheerful. Furthermore, there will be a verity of font styles such as Century Gothic, Arial etc. and size of the font will be varies as well depending on what job they do in within the magazine, for example, the font size of the text for the double page will be size 11. Colour schemeThe colour scheme of my magazine will be white background to make the artist stand out also to connote the purity and originality of what the magazine is trying to put across to the target audience. The text has to be bold and easy to read. The colours of the text will be black to connote formality, it gives a very aggressive colour scheme and lastly, it increases readability.

Conclusion

In conclusion, LO3 is about being able to develop ideas by creating proposals and sample materials for two original print-based products. This LO conclude sample materials such as hand drawn drafts, Photoshop magazine layout, draft pages and proposals for both magazine ideas. The purpose of doing is to develop my understanding of the magazine that I am inspired to and why I have chosen the specific feature to apply within my magazine. Moreover, I have included audience profile to remind myself who I am targeting to, for example, writing down their gender, age, type of music they are interested into, how much money they’ll spend on a magazine and theories that are relevant.
