Deputy Principal - Miss Margaret Gordon Welcome back from Mid-term break, I hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready for a busy 5 weeks. Congratulations to the girl’s netball team that played at the Netball Gala Day last week. They played very well and should be congratulated for their efforts. It was lovely to see so many Grandparents at BPS last Thursday for Grandparents Day, I hope you enjoyed your time at the school, I know the students loved having you visit and spend time with them. Year 6 Farewell tickets are still on sale for $25.00, please purchase them from the front office. Please remember to pack your swimming equipment for sport on Friday. We still have lots of students not participating because they have forgotten their swimmers. I hope you all have an awesome Week 6. Our 2018 Leaders speeches will be presented on Tuesday 21 st November at a Special Assembly starting at 9.30am. All parents/carers and community members are welcome to attend the Special Assembly. Thank you to all the Grandparents that visited our school last week. The smiles on the students faces demonstrated the importance of Grandparents Day. 1D- Miss Duiz In English this week students are beginning to publish and then present their persuasive speeches on a range of topics related to school. Students will present these speeches to their peers next week. In Maths, students are working on developing their skills and knowledge in Mass and Time. Have a super week everyone!

Stage 1 AP- Miss Duiz I hope you all had a lovely last Mid-term break for 2017! Remember to bring in your notes for Infants Swimming Scheme which begins next Monday (week 7). Please also continue to come to school every day on time as there are many fun and cool rewards for students with 100% attendance. Please also remember swimmers every Friday for sport.

Netball Gala Day

Early Stage 1 AP- Miss Mowbray Welcome back after Mid-term break, I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Thank you to all of the grandparent’s that came and visited KM, KF and the EYTC last week. It was wonderful to share our work with you all. Transition continues for the Dingoes and Wombats with Kindergarten this week. The EYTC will be joining KM and KF during the afternoon session and will be learning about Visual Arts. Have a wonderful week of learning!

KF- Miss Finch Welcome to week 6. Thank you to the grandparents who came into our classroom and participated in our lesson. This week we have the Wombats joining us for art on Wednesday and we will be making Yi Peng Lanterns. The lanterns are a tradition in Thailand. Have a fantastic week everyone.

Welcome to Week 6! I hope everyone had a safe and happy Mid-term break. This week we will continue our persuasive writing about the text ‘Hey, Little Ant’. In Maths we will be looking at the topic Data. Don’t forget swimming for sport is this Friday, so remember your swimmers, a towel, a hat and your 50c. Have a great week!

KM- Miss Mowbray Another busy week of learning for KM! In Writing we will be creating stories about the book Hand’s Surprise and discussing and explaining what our favourite fruits are. KM’s sound of the week is the blend cl. In Maths we are focusing on volume and capacity of objects. KM are working on maps in Geography and last week we took a tour of Bourke using Google Maps, which created some amazing discussions.

1C- Miss Cook

Thank you to everyone who came into our class for Grandparents Day. It was so lovely to see you all. I hope everyone had a well-rested Mid-term break. In English we are editing and publishing our persuasive writing on healthy food. During maths, we are learning to create our own graphs and collect data. 3H- Miss Heaney Happy Week 6! I hope everyone had a happy and relaxing Mid-term break! 3H will continue to work on their poems this week during English and work on measurement in Maths class. 2D- Miss Dorrington I hope everyone had a wonderful Mid-term break. This week we will be learning about the discovery of Australia. We will follow some explorers on their journey to Australia and gain a better understanding of life as a convict or early settler. We will be labelling the equator, the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere. Don’t forget there is a Rugby Union clinic this week.

Welcome to Week 6! Last week in maths we were looking at Probability and Chance. We used M&Ms and other materials to determine the Probability of a situation. In English we are continuing our reading of the 13- Storey treehouse and looking at the characters in more depth. I hope you all had a fantastic Mid-term break

Stage 3 AP- Miss Wilson Welcome to week 6! A reminder that Year 6 2018 speeches are next Tuesday morning in our school hall. This is the same day as our Year 6 farewell so please make sure you purchase your tickets from the front office as soon as possible. Please remember to pack a hat and drink bottle as the weather is warming up fast. Have a wonderful week!

3B- Miss Buckley Welcome to week 6! I hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing Mid- term break. This week 3B will be beginning our research task on Venice and why people would choose to live there. In Mathematics 3B will be using some different measuring devices to determine the mass of different objects. Remember that the Year 6 graduation is next Tuesday. Have a fantastic week!

It was good to see all the Grandparents at school for Grandparents Day. 2B are continuing to work on our English unit Family Forest and are now creating a character profile of their best friend which they will be presenting to the class. In Maths, we will be focusing on Mass and Time. Have a great week

2G- Miss Griffiths This week 2G are looking forward to the Rugby Union clinic. We enjoy learning new skills and working as a team. This week we are learning to tell the time correctly, and timing each other doing various activities. We are learning about where the earth is when it is winter and how it orbits around the sun.

3-6L- Miss Wade Welcome back from our Mid-term break! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable time. This week in 3-6L we will be focusing on publishing our Information Reports in English. In Maths we will be exploring Mass and how objects can be different sizes, but still weigh the same. In Science we are creating our own sundials and will be conducting an experiment on the shadow the sun casts each hour. Don’t forget swimming for sport on Friday!

Miss Bartley & Mrs Roe As your child learns to read, it is very important to listen to him or her read aloud. Reading to you will give your child a chance to improve his or her reading skills with practice. By doing this, he or she will build confidence. As you listen to your child, remember that your reactions are very important. in

Support AP- Miss Nixon All K-6 students have received a note about the Intensive Swimming Scheme that Bourke Public School will be running in weeks 7, 8 and 9 of this term. Infants will be attending in weeks 7 and 8 and Primary students will be going in week 9. Please return your child’s note and money ASAP to secure their position in the scheme, as there will be limited positions available. If you would like your child to participate and do not have a note, please contact the Front Office or myself.

K-3W - Mrs Wood Welcome to Week 6! I hope you all had a lovely Mid-term break and feel rested and ready to go. This week we will be learning about volume and capacity, mass and time.
