Trustees of TMI - e Episcopal School of Texas Elect 2 persons, either Clergy or Lay for a 3-year term. Description of duties: e Board of Trustees is re- sponsible for communicating the needs of the school to the Diocese and gathering resources in support of the school at the direction of the Board of Governors. e Trustees meet 3-4 times a year on average, on the campus of TMI. e Rev. Tommy Bye, Rector, St. Luke’s, Cypress Mill Qualifications: Fr. Bye’s expe- rience makes him an excellent candidate for Trustee to TMI. He has previous experience as a trustee to an educational institution, having served for six years on the Board of Trustees of the University of the South, Sewanee. He also has the personal experience of a college prepatory education in a military school setting as a graduate of the Sewanee Military Academy, one of the parent schools of St. Andrew’s, Sewanee. He has maintained an unbroken relationship with the school as an alum- nus for the last 20 years. His military experience from the academy continued as a commissioned officer in the United States Army several years prior to ordina- tion as a priest. During her husband’s 34 years in the Navy, she taught school at almost every duty station to which he was assigned. In Hawaii, she served two years on the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce Education Committee as the military families representative; and in Washington DC, she served as the president of the National Mili- tary Family Association, an advocacy group on Capital Hill representing military family members. Local Church Activities: Sunday school teacher for young children for four years; attended Cursillo in 2012, enjoys taking part in many church activities and also hosting them in her home Length of time in Diocese: 5 years Nominated by: e Rev. Tommy Bye Holly Baker Hill, member of St. Margaret’s, San Antonio Qualifications: Given Holly’s 20 years of experience in edu- cation, along with her passion for Christ and living it out in an educational setting, she has a daughter at TMI and is committed to having TMI live out its mission in the diocese. Holly has a doctorate in education from Teacher’s Col- lege, Columbia University (2000) and currently teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in special educa- tion and language and literacy. She was a K-12 special education teacher in inner city schools before pursu- ing her doctorate. A strong supporter of church and school connections, she exhibits this in her work place by partnering with local schools in SAISD. Holly is a member of Leadership SAISD, which supports com- munity and church involvement with SAISD schools. She serves on the medical and scientific board at the Winston School and focuses on community and school partnerships. She will bring her expertise in communi- ty/school relations, as well as her scientific background in education to TMI, if elected. She is the wife of the Rev. John Hill and mother to Haddie Hill (TMI 8th grader) and Emory Hill (5th grader).
