• If students need to turn in an assignment:• Use Hapara/GoogleDocs• Use Webfile (http://webfile.nsd.org) and store it on the server• Use Mailfile’s dropbox featurehttps

• Computers will NOT be moved from other campuses• Think carefully about where you’ll test, as network is important!

• Chromebooks and Tier 1 Macs will be supported• iPads need keyboards (and are really small)• Headphones are coming

Deployment: Random Questions• What happens to Tier 3 computers? Can I buy one?• Which devices can be used for Smarter Balanced?• Why Chromebooks? Why iPads?• What if I work at two campuses? Where do I deploy?• What will I need to do to move from Apple Mail to Zimbra?• What about printing with Chromebooks? What’s the deal?

Page 17: TRT/STS MEETING November 20, 2014. Virtual Meeting Protocols Click on the triangle next to the little man to give feedback to the presenter

Deployment Tasks• Computers should all be labeled with cover sheets before

the start of Deployment• Schools don’t have to move Tier 3 and mobile labs to the

staging area ahead of time BUT… having these things in the staging area limits disruption to the classroom and limits questions to your staff

• It would be GREAT to have a big garbage can for the staging area

• It would be GREAT to have a flatbed cart if you have one

Page 18: TRT/STS MEETING November 20, 2014. Virtual Meeting Protocols Click on the triangle next to the little man to give feedback to the presenter

iPads: What should we do with them?• Idea #1: Put them in a grade band/department

• Let one grade band use them for an extended period of time to learn best practices to share with others

• Choose a content area of focus to study a narrow set of goals

• Idea #2: Put them in the Library for research• Easy web-browsing and access to Google Docs w/portability

• Idea #3: Rotate them through in 4/6 week cycles• One grade/department for a period, then the next, and so on

• Idea #4: Check them out to staff who’ve completed PD
