TARGET AUDIENCE

o Teachers or teaching researchers, instructors and referents specialised in public transport, bus transport and urban mobility;

o Applicants must speak and understand fluent English and must be able to interact in English;

o Applicants must be able to engage in discussion and analysis;

o Applicants must be willing to acquire knowledge and share it with students and colleagues;

o Applicants must commit to perform a workshop or teaching activities based on the material and experience of this training.

TRAINERS

Trainers are experts of the bus systems and have contributed to successful European projects on improving bus systems. As professionals of the bus sector, they will share their extensive experience concentrating on different aspects of urban bus systems. Their insight of the bus systems evolution at the European level and beyond will be key in instilling and exchanging knowledge.

OBJECTIVES

The training will offer you the opportunity to: o broaden your knowledge and understanding of

advanced bus systems; o learn about new technologies for bus vehicle

and infrastructures in combination with operational best practices;

o get a comprehensive overview of the system approach and gain an insight of concepts and ongoing innovative solutions about advanced bus systems in Europe;

o analyse and discuss the latest trends and future developments of advanced bus systems, including those known or observed in your own city, region or country;

o develop a professional network of international academics and be able to share experiences with both peers and bus experts.

METHODOLOGY

o The course is based on material from the European Bus System of the Future concepts and solutions, COST BHLS Action, BRT Planning Guidelines, 3iBS and other successful research activities on bus systems.

o The content of the course will be divided in modules, including exercises and times dedicated to discussion and exchanges of ideas.

o The training is conceived as a dynamic workshop providing moments for discussion and practical exercises enabling all participants to feel enriched by the training module.

o At the end of the training, the material presented will be spread by the participants in their own university.

Interested candidates can fill in an online form accessible from UITP’s website and 3iBS website, which includes general questions as well as scrutiny for genuine motivation. The forms will then be analysed by UITP in accordance with the criteria. Selection will depend on the decent fulfilment of all the criteria by the candidates. 16 December 2013 Selected candidates: o will be informed about the decision of UITP; o will be invited to book their flight and

accommodation supported by UNIMED; o will be invited to sign a Commitment form by

which he or she commits himself/herself to share the acquired knowledge with his/her students or peers in a class, conference or within his/her teaching activities and to widely distribute all the training material received during the training course.

13 January 2014 Selected candidates will receive practical information in view of the training session.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

o The number of trainees will be limited to 25 persons to maximise the learning experience and exchange of ideas

o Priority will be given to applicants from Mediterranean countries.

FEES

Participation in this training programme is free. Travel and accommodation is paid by the 3iBS project up to a certain limit and under the condition that selected participants commit themselves to widely spread the training material received during the training course.
