ucknow, the capital of the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh
is a modern city that can boast of having magnificent historical monu-
ments. Situated at the banks of river Gomti, tributary of the Ganga,
Lucknow is known for its gardens, parks and unique archaeological
monuments. Famous as the city of Nawabs, Lucknow has retained its
charm as a bastion of culinary and cultural delights. The people of this
city are known for their exquisite charm, courtesy and flair of the Urdu
language.
The city is home to 'Bara Imambara', a historical edifice with such a marvellous
architecture that even modern architects seem to be perplexed by its design. The
Imambara was built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1784 and its designer was
Kifayat-ullah who is said to be a relative of the architect of the Taj Mahal. Built by
the Nawab in a famine relief programme, this fort like huge and elegant structure
is also called Asafai Imambara. The structure shows the mixture of Rajput and
Mughal architectures with Gothic influences. The Bara Imambara is an interesting
building. It is neither a mosque, nor a mausoleum, but a huge building having
interesting elements within it. The construction of the halls and the use of vaults
show a strong Islamic influence.

The Rumi Darwaza (Gate) is an incredible structure which stands imposingly between Bara Imambara
and Chota Imambara in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Constructed in 1784 under the rule of Nawab
Asaf-ud-Daula, it is a fine example of Awadhi architecture, or the Lucknow School of Architecture. It
was a style adopted by the Nawabs of Awadh to preserve the Mughal architectural style while
experimenting with newer styles and materials.
The Rumi Darwaza, one of the heritage attractions in Uttar Pradesh, is also referred to as Turkish Gate
because it bears a strong similarity in design to a gateway built in ancient Constantinople (today’s
Turkey) called Bab-e-Humayun. Standing at an impressive height of 60ft, it once served as the
entrance to Old Lucknow City. Today however, you find the gate looking on as auto rickshaws,
bicycles and vehicles speed along underneath it. If you think this gateway looks beautiful
during the daytime, wait till you see it illuminated during the evening when its
beauty puts on a new face.
An interesting attraction during a sightseeing tour in the city of Lucknow, is Hussainabad Clock
Tower. Located near Rumi Darwaza, Husainabad Clock Tower was erected by Hussainabad Trust in
the year 1881. The construction of this architectural marvel was started by Nawab Nasir-ud-din.
Standing comfortably at a height of 221 ft, this imposing structure was built as a gesture to welcome
of the first Lt. Gov of United Province of Awadh - Sir George Couper. Amidst the chaos of the citylife,
this historical tourist attraction in Lucknow often referred to as Ghantaghar is tallest of its kind in
India. The inside of this must-visit place in Lucknow is made up of gunmetal, which is a rare material
used in the construction.

My admission in Eram Unani Medical College Lucknow was definitely a far-sighted decision of my parents. I am able to do this today only because of the attention of the Eram Unani Medical College, Lucknow teacher's education as well as the special rehabilitation of the Management. Regarding the student's empowerment, Eram Unani Medical College has its own distinct identity in the Unani System of Medicine. I pray for our institution of knowledge to prosper. Ameen…

My daughter Dr. Azra Zaidi graduated from Eram Unani Medical College, Lucknow in the year 2013. I would like to mention here that Dr. Azra Zaidi presently has her own clinic in Mumbai which she is able to run successfully since past 3 years. This in fact is due to the tutoring, skills, knowledge and practical experience imparted to her during the course by the medical college faculties. College faculty are people with vast knowledge, experience and their teaching methodology is commendable and praiseworthy.
Our daughter Anamika Bhardwaj has been selected in 69000 Assistant Teachers and is posted in Sitapur . I am proud that my daughter was a part of this esteemed institution .We are extremely happy with her performance .Eram Girls Degree College has made a great and positive impact on my daughter .The system of this college endeavours to instill a sense of self discipline in the students.
