Principals Report NAIDOC Week/Education Week

Last week we celebrated NAIDOC Week in conjunction with Education Week.

On Wednesday night I had the honour of presenting awards to Holly Foster (student award), Sarah

Anderson (staff award) and Danny Jamieson (community award) at the Sapphire Community of

Schools function. These awards recognised the outstanding contributions of these individuals to

Tingha Public School.

Gilgai Public School students and staff joined us on Thursday to participate in a range of activities

celebrating Aboriginal culture as part of our NAIDOC celebrations. I want to thank all the community

members who volunteered their time to assist with the running of the day and everyone that visited

the school. I know your children appreciated your visit. Attending school events and engaging with

your child at school shows your child/ren that you value them and what is happening at school.

At Friday’s whole school assembly we recognised individual students who had displayed great

commitment and dedication to their learning with NAIDOC and Education Week awards.

Attendance

Attendance at school is monitored daily. Regular school attendance plays a major role in student

achievement. Students who attend for a full week of school will receive a PBL ticket to be placed in

the fortnightly PBL ticket draw, held at whole school assemblies. Our new “25ers” will be finalised at

the end of next week.

P&C News

Due to unforseen circumstances the P&C AGM which was to be held this Thursday 10th August has

been postponed until a later date. We will advise of the new date as soon as possible. Remember

without a P&C there will be no canteen.

Canteen News

Parents please note: There is NO booking up of student lunches at the Canteen. If your

child does not have lunch please call the school and they will be provided with a sandwich.

We are always looking for helpers in the Canteen. If you are willing to help out for an hour or two,

please call and see Petta in the Canteen. If there are no helpers to volunteer there may be days

when the canteen will be forced to close due to illness or other commitments.

Playgroup

Negotiations are being made to resume Playgroup. More information will follow when finalised. Hope to see you all back again soon.

Ella Munro

Wishing all our students who have

Birthdays this month a very happy

birthday.

We hope you have a wonderful day!!
