Principals Report

Small Schools Soccer Gala Day On Friday we participated in our first Sapphire Smalls Schools Gala Day. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet and mix with students from Delungra, Gilgai and Gum Flat Public Schools while developing and testing their soccer skills. Students had the opportunity to participate in a range of different activities and games organised by the Inland Football Development Officers. As a school we look forward to combining more with the Sapphire Smalls Schools to provide learning and sporting opportunities four our students. NAPLAN Last week our students in Years 3 and 5 sat the NAPLAN tests. This year our school was one of only 550 in the state that delivered the tests online. The students indicated that they found tests delivered this way more engaging. Results will be available later in the year. New Fencing Our new fence has been installed around the school grounds. Whilst I understand at first this may seem confronting, many schools across the state have fences installed. The fence is to ensure students are safe and secure at all times during school hours. The front gate, in Ruby Street, will remain open all day. The back gates will be closed from 9.00am to 2.50pm. Any visitors to the school, during this time, will need to access the school from the Ruby Street entrance and report to the front office. Positive habits and following instructions This term our Positive Behaviour for Learning focus is Safe behaviours. This fortnight students are explicitly learning why following instructions is important in keeping them safe. Reinforcing this behaviour at home will also assist students to display these behaviours at school and in the community.

I have been extremely impressed over the last two weeks to hear students using positive and respectful language in all school settings. This has included’ “please” and “thank you’s”, inviting students to join in games or activities and responding to staff appropriately. Everyone appreciates when they are spoken to in a positive and respectful way.

Mother’s Day

I hope all our mum’s and grandmothers had a lovely Mother’s Day and enjoyed the gifts purchased from the Mother’s Day stall. As a school we really value the contribution mother’s make to their child/children’s lives.

Zone Cross Country

I would like to wish all our students competing at the Zone Cross Country, in Bundarra on Friday all the best. I am sure they will run their little hearts out and represent our school with pride.

NAIDOC Week- Save the Date

This year as part of NAIDOC Week I am pleased to say we will be holding another Colour Run. This will be on Thursday 5th July. More details will be given as the date gets closer. After the positive feedback I received from the last one, I am sure this will be another great event.

As always I am looking forward to another exciting fortnight at Tingha Public School.

Last Friday Tingha Public Students from K - 6 travelled to Inverell to take part in a Mini Roos Soccer Gala Day. We were joined by Gilgai, Gum Flat and Delungra.

Our students learnt many skills associated with soccer.

P&C News

We welcome Parents and Caregivers to come along and be a part of the P&C . We have plenty of great fundraising ideas that need support in organising. We are trying to pin down a date for a P&C meeting, as soon as a date is finalised we will send home flyers.

Canteen News

Parents please note: There is NO booking up of student lunches at the Canteen. If your

child does not have lunch please call the school and they will be provided with a sandwich.

We are always looking for helpers in the Canteen. If you are willing to help out for an hour or two,

please call and see Petta in the Canteen. If there are no helpers to volunteer there may be days

when the canteen will be forced to close due to illness or other commitments.

The Canteen will be selling Zooper Doopers (Koolpops) only to the students at recess. All other icy

poles can only be purchased at lunchtime.

Wishing all our students who have

Birthdays this month

a very happy birthday.

We hope you have a

wonderful day!!
