Practice Emergency Drill
Today the whole school took part in an emergency drill. From all accounts the
practice ran extremely smooth with the whole school evacuating to the oval. Every
year the school’s Emergency Management Plan is updated and forwarded to the
DET, local preschools, emergency services and the CFA. All staff receive a copy and
are made familiar with their roles and responsibili-
ties. Emergency management backpacks are located
in each classroom for easy access.
Further information regarding our Emergency
Management procedures will be in next week’s
newsletter.

Assembly
School Captain’s Report Prep: This week in Prep we looked at the difference between letters and words and we also looked at the letter T. We have started reading during this time. In Maths we learnt about length and we enjoyed measuring things in the classroom (including ourselves) using counters, blocks, teddies and other things. In in-tegrated studies we looked at who was in our family.
1/2: It’s been a busy week in 1/2. We’re learning new CAFÉ strategies and we’re beginning to explore the writing process– from collecting ideas, drafting, making improvements to our writing and publish-ing. We have been expanding and ordering numbers in Maths, and loved our first gymnastics session, which was heaps of fun. 3/4: This week in 3/4, we looked at using comprehension cards correctly to improve our comprehen-sion at our own level. In writing, we looked at gathering ideas in our Writer’s Notebook. In Maths, we learnt about transforming shapes by splitting, tessellating, flipping, sliding and turning them. 5/6: This week in 5/6, we have been learning abut place value and are enjoying our class novel be-cause of Mr Terupt. We have enjoyed interschool swimming and kayaking.

Remember our Clean Up Australia Day event is on
tomorrow Friday March 1st, 3:00 - 3:30pm. Please join
us at Jadodade Park.
This neighbouring parkland is an important community
asset for recreational use, as well as a vital habitat for
native birds and wildlife.
A lot of litter in Jadodade Community Park comes from our own school
grounds. This event is a step towards reversing our impact.
Some gloves will be provided to the school, however if you
have some, it would be great if children can bring a pair of
thick gardening style gloves.
