Principal’s Report

Trip of a Lifetime

It is certainly an exciting time for seven of our Year 9 students. They are preparing for an experi-ence of a life-time. The seven are leaving for China on Saturday for a six-week visit to that country. Our students, MacKenzie, Tayla, Michayla, Bonnie, Seisia, Neha and Bronte, will be participating in a wide range of activities whilst overseas. They will be involved in learning Mandarin as well as learning about many aspects of the culture and history of China. They will be tourists and they will be visiting some of the more remote as well as populated parts of China. They will be living ‘on campus’ as well as staying in billets on some occasions.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students. It broadens their view of the world as well as opens up opportunities and ideas. I am sure that they will bring back a range of ideas and cultural insights which they will share with all of us.

We all wish you well for your trip. I hope you enjoy every minute of your stay in China.

Year 11 Camp

Our Year 11 students are having a wonderful trip to Melbourne. They departed early Monday morning on the VLine bus and are due back Friday evening. Whilst in Melbourne they toured the Treasury Building, visited tertiary institutions such as Holmesglen TAFE and the University of Mel-bourne, attended the Comedy theatre, visited the Melbourne Aquarium, explored some shopping options, toured a police station and had a tour of Marvel Stadium. It was certainly a packed itiner-ary. Thanks go to Mrs Wright for organising the camp and to Jacob for assisting with supervision for the week.

Snow Camp

Almost immediately on top of the Melbourne camp, Mrs Wright and Jacob will be heading off again to lead the Year 10 snow camp. They will be heading off on August 26th and back again on Friday 23rd August. This trip, which is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to ski, is being run in conjunction with Balmoral K-12 Community College.

Primary Schools’ Cluster Day

Over 160 primary children ‘invaded’ our school grounds on Monday. They all arrived in Hopetoun to view a visiting performance of “The Tortoise and the Hare”. After the performance, the students enjoyed a range of activities involving puppet making, stories, art and sport. They concluded the day with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activity in the stadium. It was a wonderful day where students from all schools (Beulah, Rainbow, Jeparit, Yaapeet, St Josephs and Hopetoun) mixed in well together and had fun while learning. Thanks go to Miss Bull, Miss Cook and Mrs Bound for organising everything from this end, and to all the teachers, parents and ES from all of the schools for organising and helping throughout the day.

The primary school students from P-6 hosted a Cluster Day. Students were able to engage with stu-
