Over the past few years, there has been an explosion of reports about the use of CBD Oil to reduce pain and for other ailments. This interest has taken the oil from a little-known product to one of the most sought-after natural remedies on the market. CBD Oil or cannabidiol extract is a cannabinoid found in the Cannabis sativa plant.

Unlike Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD Oil contains none of the psychoactive properties that produce the “high” negatively associated with cannabis. Instead, cannabidiol has many healing characteristics including the ability to reduce the psychoactive effects of THC. Continue reading this special report to learn more about the amazing benefits you can reap from cannabidiol:

thesacredplant.comUNDERSTANDING CANNABIDIOL

ALL ABOUT CANNABIDIOL Cannabidiol is one of over 100 known cannabinoids in

the sacred plant’s trichomes or the crystals on the flower, stem, and leaves. In the early 1940’s CBD Oil and THC were the first of these to be discovered by scientists. There are three sources of cannabinoids:

A cannabinoid is an active chemical compound that binds to specific receptors in the body of mammals. Look at the the cannabinoid as the key that fits the receptors like a lock. When it unlocks the cell, it can change the way it functions.

UNDERSTANDING CANNABINOID RECEPTORSScientists have broken receptors into two groups -

Cannabinoid Receptor Type 1 (CB1) and Cannabinoid Receptor Type 2 (CB2.) There are various levels of each cannabinoid in the flowers with THC and CBD being the the most abundant. The main location for the CB1 is in the brain while the CB2 is found throughout the rest of the body. THC gets its “high” by binding to the CB1 whereas CBD doesn’t attach to it which is what allows CBD Oil to reduce the psychoactive effects of THC. CBD Oil also interacts with several non-cannabinoid receptors such as opioid and dopamine receptors. Clinical trials with humans show that this cannabinoid can enhance the effects of

Phytocannabinoids -- the plant-based molecules in Cannabis sativa. They are also found in other forms of vegetation such as the coneflower, Echinacea.

Endocannabinoids -- receptors that occur naturally inside the body of mammals.

Synthetic cannabinoids -- as the name suggests, these do not happen naturally and they are manufactured in a lab. Marinol (dronabinol) is a completely synthetic medication that physicians can prescribe for AIDS wasting syndrome, and for nausea and vomiting in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

these receptors. This result can help reduce pain patients’ use of dangerous opioids, and possibly slow the rate of dependence on these strong, habit-forming drugs.

Plants don’t need cannabinoids to grow. Instead, they exist to protect the plant from disease, predators, and anything else, such as ultraviolet radiation, that can harm its production. This may explain the many healing properties of the compounds.

Synthetic cannabinoids exist as a legal option to administer a seizure medication, or other form of approved ailment, that mimics the response of the cannabidiol that occurs in nature. As a single compound medicine, proponents of the whole plant treatment argue that patients aren’t receiving the full benefits without the other cannabinoids and molecules. Patients and caregivers should also be aware that synthetic forms of the medicine can take several days or longer to show a reduction in symptoms. What may be worse is they don’t always work and can lead to needless suffering while medical experts “wait to see” if the medication and dosage are helping. Other cannabinoids include cannabigerol (CBG), cannabichromene (CBC), cannabinol (CBN), and cannabinodiol (CBDL.)

HOW CAN CBD OIL PRODUCTS HELP?There are more than a dozen known conditions whose

symptoms can be reduced by CBD Oil. These include: There is also ongoing research into how CBD Oil can

help treat various cancers, heart disease, mental health illnesses, and many other conditions.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF CBD

Seizure disorders such as Dravet Syndrome, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, and other seizures that have little or no response to conventional treatment

Anxiety, mood disorders, and other psychiatric conditions

Insomnia and other sleep disorders

Autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

Arthritis

Migraines and headaches

Digestive conditions such as Irritable Bowel diseases, colitis, and Crohn’s disease

Chronic pain

ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CBD OIL?CBD oil is made from the whole cannabis plant and

hemp strains that contain under five percent THC. While the entire plant is thought to be the most beneficial for CBD Oil, legal and perceptive reasons currently make the hemp-

THERE ARE MORE THAN A DOZEN KNOWN CONDITIONS WHOSE SYMPTOMS CAN BE REDUCED BY CBD OIL.based oil very prevalent. Due to preconceptions about THC’s psychoactive properties, potential and new patients only want to use CBD Oil.

In states where medical cannabis is legal, a knowledgeable doctor, caregiver, or budtender can slowly help guide many patients to whole plant cannabis. This form of medicine uses a balance of THC, CBD Oil, and other healing compounds such as terpenes and flavonoids to improve the plant’s interactions with their body’s endocannabinoid system.

There are three common CBD Oils: The high THC, low CBD strains available in legal medical and recreational states and countries contains between 10 and 20 percent THC with only a trace of CBD; and the balanced CBD/THC ratio of 5-15 percent for each compound. In locations with only legal hemp-derived CBD Oil, the rate must keep the THC levels under .3 percent, depending on the state’s regulations.

If your legal option is industrial hemp oil; pay attention to the source. The hemp plant’s ability to remove pollutants from soil can eliminate any health benefits. This variation of the plant also contains very little CBD. Products sold outside of legal dispensaries and through untested, internet sellers are often misleading and rarely contain enough CBD to be beneficial.

HOW DO YOU EXTRACT CBD?There are a few ways to extract CBD Oil, keeping in mind that CBD-rich plant material produces the best possible quality product.

USAGE AND ADMINISTRATION TECHNIQUES

HOW MUCH CBD OIL SHOULD YOU TAKE TO START?When starting any treatment with cannabis, whether

it’s only CBD or a THC strain, start low and build up to the therapeutic range for the condition you want to treat. While finding the best ratio, keep in mind that medicinal cannabis isn’t a “one size fits all” treatment. It will take time to see what works for you. This is why we recommend that patients work with a medical specialist who understands how cannabis works as a medicine.

If you are in a state with a medical program, follow the recommending doctor’s dosing instructions. For patients in states with adult-only recreational use and working without a medical professional, review the ratio/condition suggestions below:

1:1 CBD to THC to treat appetite stimulation, severe pain, and Fibromyalgia pain

3:1 CBD to THC ratio for severe arthritis, Crohn’s disease, inflammation, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

C02 extraction. Carbon dioxide and specialized equipment are used to safely extract potent, clean oil.

Carrier oil. For a safe, easy, and inexpensive way to extract CBD, use a carrier oil with more saturated fat to break down and move the CBD molecules more efficiently. Keep in mind that this form makes the extraction perishable and it should be stored in a cool, dark place to avoid changing the properties of the product. Other options include:

For more information about the CBD Oil extraction process of your products, check with a qualified budtender at the dispensary where it’s purchased.

Ethanol. With less expense and equipment, ethanol removes the CBD; however, it doesn’t preserve all the plant materials in the process. This can reduce the medicinal benefits of the oil and isn’t as safe as C02 and carrier oil extractions.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO ADMINISTER CBD OILA common misconception about cannabis products is

that it must be smoked to achieve the medicinal benefits. There are several ways to take CBD Oil, such as:

20:1 CBD to THC for Anxiety, mood disorders, mild arthritis, restless leg syndrome, epilepsy, and other neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and Parkinson’s Disease

WHAT IF I TAKE TOO MUCH CBD?Don’t worry if you take too high a dose. Although

taking too much can reduce the CBD’s benefits, it’s not possible to overdose. In its 5,000 year history, there are no known deaths from any of the plant’s cannabinoids.

IS CBD OIL LEGAL IN MY STATE OR COUNTRY?The legality of CBD Oil falls in a gray area much

like the rest of the Cannabis sativa plant. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) maintains that all parts of the plant are illegal and this continues to be the classification in most countries around the world.

As the cannabinoid extract has grown in popularity, several news outlets and many CBD Oil suppliers have claimed that these products are legal in all U.S. states which is incorrect. Although a majority of the U.S. states and a handful of countries allow some form of CBD Oil as a health supplement, these laws vary widely.

If the laws weren’t confusing enough in the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration approved the first cannabis-derived, single-compound medication using the cannabinoid cannabidiol that is not synthetic. GW Pharmaceuticals expects Epidiolex to be available to the public for the treatment of patients, ages two and older, with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome and Dravet Syndrome, two rare and severe seizure disorders.

CAN I USE CBD WITH MY CURRENT MEDICATIONS?CBD can enhance the actions of certain medical

prescriptions and patients should discuss these possible interactions with a qualified physician before starting any other medication including cannabis.

As more legislation passes allowing for the cultivation and study of the sacred plant, scientists, researchers, and cultivators will learn more ways to use this universal plant to enrich the health and lives of all living beings while helping to heal our planet.
