The doctor explained the situaon to her lile brother, and asked the lile boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doc- tor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?" Being young, the lile boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her. As we approach Memorial Day Weekend we take the opportunity to reflect upon the meaning of sacrifice. We pause to remember those who have given their lives to win and maintain our freedoms. But we are also reminded of how Christ calls us to live sacrificially on a daily basis for each other. This does not necessarily mean we have to give our lives for someone; it may simply mean we need to be more willing to give of our me and ourselves to listen, to help, and to encourage others. It is through our sacrificial living that those around us will see and experience firsthand the love of Christ – and there is no greater love! I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday. “There Is No Greater Love” A volunteer in a hospital tells this story: “I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. He looked up at the doc-tor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?" Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.”

Children, Youth, Family Fun

at the Beach Meet at 6pm

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the celebration of my 10 years of ministry and for my going away lunch! I loved reading through the many cards and hearing stories from you all about your favorite memories of these last 10 years! I am forever grateful for your love, prayers, and support for me, Dan, Walker & Kaden as we grew our faith while worshiping and serving with you at SSUMC.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Matthew 22:37-39 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. And Love your neighbor as yourself”.

Every time I have planned a lesson, children’s message, craft, Bible Study, mission project, and many other activities, I’ve made that my goal: to teach these children and youth that theme “Love God & Love Others!” I think I’ve said that more time than they could count. I know this church family has been a great example to me of loving God and loving me (others), and I’ve tried to show that to these kids. So I challenge you to keep loving God and keep loving these children & youth & others! Receive God’s blessings and share that with others every time you can!

I love you all! Jennifer
