Add to this confusion the growing frustration regarding our government's response or lack of response to the crisis, and you have a formula for ever increasing anger, resentment and hopelessness. Trust me, I am just as frustrated by these world events as the rest of you. I feel the anger...the rage...the contempt. But as a Christian, I also hear the call of God to love, to do good, to trust in Him in the midst of the turmoil. I don't have all the answers, but I cannot remain silent any more! We have reached a breaking point at which the Church needs to speak out boldly, forcefully and convincingly. That is what I hope to do in our worship on Sunday, March 1st. I hope you will plan to be in worship for this special time of prayer and reflection. Because I believe so strongly in the need for us coming together as one body on this topic, I am asking that the CONNECT attendees worship with the others in the Sanctuary on that Sunday at either 8:30 or 11:00, thus not having the CONNECT service on March 1st. I have been informed that a group of women within our church and community have decided to organize an event calling Christians in Newnan to come together in prayer over this world crisis. This is precisely what we need to be doing and I look forward to supporting them any way that I can. As I write this, I am out of the office on my annual Study Break. This time away is an opportunity for me to pray, study, and seek God's direction for my life and ministry. It is a treasured time for me to "dive deep" into the Holy Spirit's presence and power. I look forward to being with you on March 1st as we come together to seek God's wisdom and direction in these troubling times. -Stuart

Several weeks ago the world listened in horror to the news that ISIS had burned to death a Jordanian pilot while caged like an animal unable to escape. Just when we thought the depravity could not sink any lower, we learn of the beheadings of 21 Christian men in Egypt. They were brutally murdered to send us a message. We'll have the opportunity to participate this year in an event being held in Fayette County called Disciple NOW (DNOW). DNOW is a great event and a true expression of the Kingdom of God. We'll join with over 20 different churches from Fayette and Coweta County for a worship experience like no other! There will be nearly 1300 students together to worship and learn in this unique "Stay-Treat" experience. We'll meet at the church on Friday night and travel together to New Hope Baptist Church for worship. We'll return back to NFUMC and then head out to host homes for small groups and to sleep. We'll meet back at the church on Saturday morning and head back to New Hope for worship again, spend the afternoon serving in the community and return back to New Hope that evening for our last worship session. We'll return to NFUMC and head back to host homes for the night and meet back up the next morning for church here at home. It will be a truly great experience!!! Cost is $60 for the weekend and includes the event, 5 meals and a t-shirt.
