The 0/ 0 garage sales held of the morning of 1aturday 2 rdJuly ga"e the opportunity to fol!

to ha"e a clear out. any did and &hat is one person$s 3un! is another person$s treasure.1e"eral people 3oined &ith neighbours and &e had 42 sale stations o"erall. 05 of anythingsold &ent to the stall 6 holders and 05 to 1t elena$s 7abric 7und. A goodly sum of 89:&as raised for the church. This &as splendid. A big than!s to e"eryone &ho had a garagesale; &ho helped; &ho donated and those &ho came and purchased.

To deal eectively with this we have put in place a “nuclear proof” wastebin.Anchored to a concrete base.

I have ased !ewar and "herwood to include the emptying of the bin ontheir fortnightly collection of the #us "helter bin.$opefully users of the playing eld will now use this.

7riday 44 1eptember sa& the return of aureen 1utton to 1outh 1carle Community Centre for

another of her eEcellent tal!s; this time on LBrute and Beastly Remedies <rior to the )1L.

er performance did not disappoint as she too! us on a 3ourney; for some do&n emory Dane; of

strange but true remedies for "arious ailments. At an early opportunity aureen did &arn us to

chec! &ith our K< first before trying any%

1tarting &ith "inegar and bro&n paper for headaches; she mo"ed onto many more strange

remedies highlighting some; &hich &e may no& recognise to ha"e at least some scientific basis;

for eEample; a gold ring on the eyelid to cure a sty. o& about though; fried mouse for coughs; and

goose grease for a bad chest. (a"e you e"er seen a goose &ith a bad chestM% a"ing &arned us

to ne"er put anything larger than an elbo& into our ears; she proceeded &ith dastardly tales of

those &ho had not been gi"en or heeded such ad"ice. Just one more; definitely do not try this one

at home... a drop of turps on a sugar cube 6 aureen assured us that youd be amaed &hat &ould

come out in the morning%
