Dear Roseville Community
Since September of 2014 I have been a part of an amazing
community. The staff work tirelessly to support all learners and
learning. They give so much extra to ensure that students and
families feel important. The families have been so incredible at
Roseville as well. So many have been real partners in education,
and they care so much for their children! They have also supported
the school in so many ways, and we are very grateful for their
efforts! The students at Roseville are the best! They are kind,
considerate, and they work hard to overcome any obstacle in their
way. I have been so fortunate to have worked with these students
and have really gotten to know them in such a positive light. I am
grateful that these children will be our future leaders!
My gratitude comes at a point in my life where saying goodbye is
very tough. After almost 4 years at Roseville, and over 29 years of
teaching, I have decided to retire at the end of December. It was a
difficult decision because of all the wonderful things that my career
has brought me. But I look forward to my next chapter in life. I plan
to travel, learn new things, volunteer more, and spend much more
time with my family. It has been such a privilege to be a part of the
Roseville Community and I will miss each and every one of you!
Thank you for all your support! I wish the new Principal well, Ms.
Jodi Burgon. I know she will be a great addition to Roseville and I
also know she is looking forward to starting in January as your new
Principal. Welcome Ms. Burgon!! Forever a Raider!

Inclement Weather and Attendance
In the event of poor weather resulting in bus delays or cancellation of either transportation or
school for the day, please do not call the school. This information will be available through the
local media. On days of poor weather, (e.g., fog, ice or snow), please listen to local radio
stations for news about transportation or school closings. Also, the board website will provide
timely information, please visit www.publicboard.ca or www.buskids.ca. If the buses do not run
in the morning, they will not be running in the afternoon (the exception being a fog day). Please remember to call the school to inform the office when your child will be absent
from school. You are able to leave a message 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Please keep students safe. Use the Kiss and Ride section
off of Roseville Garden Drive to pick up and drop off your
children.
Use caution when using the school parking lot.
Students should walk straight home for lunch and/or
school. Stopping at the park to play is not recommended.
Parents please note that smoking on school property
(including the parking lot and sidewalks) is forbidden at
any time of day or night.
Students crossing the street must cross with the crossing
guard.

Early Years and Primary
Take turns rolling dice with your child to add or
subtract numbers.
Junior and Intermediate
When cooking or baking, ask your child to help you
discover what the measurements given in grams
would be in kilograms (or the reverse).
Working at Home with Your Child in Math
Hi
Parent Tips for Math:
• Build strong, positive attitudes about math. When children feel positively engaged and successful, they
are more likely to stick with an activity or a problem to find a solution.
• Begin with activities that meet your child’s level of mathematical understanding. Early success in solving
problems will build your child’s confidence. Gradually move to activities that provide more challenge for
your child.
• If you and your child are more comfortable in a language other than English, use it. Your child will
understand concepts better in the language that he or she knows best.
From “Doing Mathematics With Your Child”
6 Questions to Ask Your Kids about School Instead of “How Was Your Day?”
1) What was your favourite class/subject today? Why?
2) What is the nicest thing you did for someone else today or that someone did for you?
3) What game did you play during gym today?
4) Who did you sit with at lunch?
5) How did your project/Science lab go?
6) Share 3 facts about your day.
