ALL SAINTS DAY | NOVEMBER 1, 2020
Mission Statement The parish of Mater Christi is a faith community, unified by belief in Jesus Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit, and rooted in the discipleship of our Blessed Mother. United by our common baptism in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church, we celebrate the Eucharist and seek to work and pray for the deepening of faith in
Jesus Christ through worship, evangelization, and service.

Please include the date you would like to schedule, the name(s) of your loved one(s), and who the request is from. The suggested offering is $10 per intention. If you’d like your intention to appear in the bulletin it must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of publication for guaranteed inclusion. Mass cards are also available. Please note that because the office is closed to visitors Mass cards must be prearranged for pickup or mailed.
Offerings can be mailed to the parish office at: 40 Hopewell Street, Albany, NY 12208, Attn. Jasper; deposited through the secure mail slot at the office; or, placed in the collection basket, inside an envelope, Attn. Jasper.
Burns In Memory of ALL DEPARTED SOULS
Week of November 1-7
REST IN PEACE Please remember in your prayers all of the souls
who departed in the past year.
Please do NOT park in the Hurst Avenue lot for Daily Mass as it interferes with procedures in place for drop-off at school.
CHANGES TO THE BISHOP’S APPEAL We want to let you know about a few changes to the annual campaign formerly known as the Bishop’s Appeal:
• The campaign will now be known as the Diocesan Appeal and themed, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
• There will no longer be “in-pew” collection of pledges. • The 2020-2021 Diocesan Appeal will begin with a mailing sent to parishioners from the Roman
Catholic Diocese of Albany (RCDA) - Office of Stewardship and Development. You should expect to receive this correspondence between now and early September; it will include a pledge card and envelope.
• All pledges and payments will be sent directly to the RCDA Office of Stewardship and will no longer be processed in the parish office.
• The appeal year runs through June 30, 2021 (rather than ending in March as in the past). • Monthly or one-time gifts by credit card can be made via secure website
at donate.thediocesanappeal.org. You can also make a pledge at that site as well as pledge payments. • For more information on the appeal, visit www.thediocesanappeal.org. • Questions - call the RCDA Office of Stewardship & Development at 518-453-6680 or
email [email protected] As the Diocese serves as a critical partner with us in serving you, we thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration of a pledge to the Diocesan Appeal.
Thanksgiving at the Food Pantry! The Mater Christi Food Pantry is getting ready for our annual Thanksgiving distribution for which will take place on Tuesday, November 24th. We expect to provide 100 households from our pantry with all of the food items for a complete Thanksgiving dinner. We will also continue to help the Cathedral Food Pantry by donating funds for turkeys. We are requesting donations of specific non-perishable food items and monetary contributions for the purchase of meats, fresh fruits & vegetables, rolls, and desserts. There is a flyer in the church gathering area listing our specific food needs, and includes a form to pledge the donation of a frozen turkey. Mater Christi parishioners have been very generous to this program every year, and we ask for your help again this year. Thank you for your kindness and may God bless you.
MCS Substitute Teachers NeededThe teachers at Mater Christi School are devoted to their students, dedicated to our school and are doing an absolutely amazing job! However, despite the best of intentions and careful planning, there are times when a substitute is needed for a day here or there.
We are interested in building our substitute list for this year with good, dependable substitutes for our classrooms and students. If you are interested or know someone who may be, we encourage you to contact Sr. Debbie Timmis at [email protected] to learn more. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
THE MCS COMMUNITY SUPPORTS EACH OTHER In response to the amazing outpouring of love and support for Maran (Franke) Person, and her sons, Max and Zach, since Eddie's death, the Mater Christi School Community has established the Person Tuition Endowment Fund to support the boys' education at MCS.
If you would like to make a contribution to this Fund, please check out the link below:
