Greetings to all in the Name of the Risen Lord!May our worship this glorious morning celebrate the joy and hope, peace and presence, of our Lord Jesus Christ, raised to life for us. We welcome all, especially our guests. If you do not have a church home, please consider Divine Shepherd. We would love to have you as part of our family. Please take a minute and sign our guest book.

A prayer before WorshipThis is the day you have made, O Lord Jesus, a day of new life and eternal celebration! The stone is moved; death is defeated; heaven is open. As Your disciples first saw and believed Your victory over the tomb, so give us joy in the promise You made and keep for us: because You live, we live also! Amen.

The Lord’s SupperThe Lord’s Supper is celebrated by us this morning in the confession and gladness that, as our Lord says, He gives into our mouth not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord Jesus invites to His table those who trust His Words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show forth His death until He comes.

Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the blood of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. (1 Cor 11:28 ESV) Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar.  Any who holds a confession differing from that of the Holy Scriptures, or are not a member in good standing with the LC-MS, are asked to speak with Pastor Sturzenbecher.

Invocation & ExhortationP In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy

Spirit.C Amen.P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the

truth is not in us.C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and

just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confession of SinsP Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.C Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature

sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

AbsolutionP Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you

and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C Amen.

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom | shall I fear?* The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I | be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat | up my flesh,* my adversaries and foes, it is they who stum- | ble and fall.Though an army encamp against me, my heart | shall not fear;* though war arise against me, yet I will be | confident. One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek | after:* that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days | of my life. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of | trouble;* he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high up- | on a rock.Glory be to the Father and | to the Son* and to the Holy | Spirit;as it was in the be- | ginning,* is now, and will be forever. | Amen. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom | shall I fear?* The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I | be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat | up my flesh,* my adversaries and foes, it is they who stum- | ble and fall.

Old Testament Reading Genesis 50:15–2115When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us and pay us back for all the evil that we did to him.” 16So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave this command before he died, 17‘Say to Joseph, Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him. 18His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” 19But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? 20As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. 21So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

The Table of DutiesTo HusbandsHusbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Col. 3:19To WivesWives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Eph. 5:22 They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. 1 Peter 3:5–6

Epistle Romans 12:14–2114Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be conceited. 17Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Holy Gospel Luke 6:36–4236[Jesus said:] “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. 37“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” 39He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. 41Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”

5 What God ordains is always good:    Though I the cup am drinkingWhich savors now of bitterness,    I take it without shrinking.        For after grief        God gives relief,My heart with comfort fillingAnd all my sorrow stilling.

6 What God ordains is always good:    This truth remains unshaken.Though sorrow, need, or death be mine,    I shall not be forsaken.        I fear no harm,        For with His armHe shall embrace and shield me;So to my God I yield me.

5 I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless;Ills have no weight and tears no bitterness.Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?I triumph still if Thou abide with me!

6 Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies.Heav’n’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
