This Festivalbegan in 1977, taking advantage of the bicentenary of the foundation of Colombian village of San Pelayo, “WorldCapital of Porro”, in thedepartment of Cordoba, in the Mid
Sinú region.
It is organized by the Foundation Festival National del Porro and the Village Hall. As a member of the Caribbean Node of the National Network of Colombian Traditional Music Festivals it spreads music from the West-Caribbean region of the country.
