Czech President Edvard Benes was NOT amenable to the demands made by Henlein, asking for Sudetenland autonomy (independence)

Negotiations broke down between Hitler and the Czechs; Hitler threatened to invade the Sudetenland; Neville Chamberlain, British Prime Minister asked Hitler for a conference
