buildingSMART conference 2006The benefit and risks in using virtual buildings throughout the entireprocess of designing and constructing buildings will be presented fromthe various vantage points of everyone involved. The focus will be on aninternational exchange of views and experience in the use of buildinginformation models (BIM) between decision makers, IT and constructionexperts, representatives of the public and private sectors, managers andinvestors, planners and building companies. The importance of datastandards will be discussed, taking the IFC as an example.

Im Mittelpunkt steht der internationale Erfahrungsaustauschunter Entscheidungsträgern, Bau- und IT- Experten von privatenund öffentlichen Nutzern, Betreibern und Investoren, Planern sowieBauunternehmen. Die Bedeutung von Datenstandards für Gebäude-modelle wird am Beispiel der IFC erörtert.

OrganisersIt is the objective of the Industry Alliance for Interoperability – Within theframework of the buildingSMART Initiative - to create model-basedinitiatives that will optimise planning, execution and management pro-cesses in the construction industry. In doing so, it aims to establish theIndustry Foundation Classes, IFC, as the industrial standard. The IAI wasfounded in the USA in June 1995 and has today more than 500 membersworldwide. The IAI is open to all companies, research and educationalorganisations as well as those institutions in the public sector that areassociated with the construction industry.

VeranstalterZiel der Industrieallianz für Interoperabilität, IAI, ist es, im Rahmender buildingSMART Initiative den modellbasierten Ansatz für dieOptimierung der Planungs-, Ausführungs-, und Bewirtschaftungs-prozesse im Bauwesen zu etablieren und dabei die Industry Foun-dation Classes, IFC, als den Standard durchzusetzen. Die IAI wurdeim Juni 1995 in den USA gegründet und hat sich seitdem internatio-nal mit mehr als 500 Mitgliedern etabliert. Die IAI ist offen für alleUnternehmen, Forschungs- und Bildungsstätten sowie Einrichtun-gen der öffentlichen Hand,die mit dem Bauwesen verbunden sind.

With the award-winning museum »Pinakothek der Moderne«, which

opened to the public in 2002, Munich boasts one of the world’s largest

and most impressive galleries to house art of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Munich is particularly well-known for its historical church buildings.

The glass, cubic-shaped, modern »Herz Jesu Kirche« provides a bold

contrast to this well established tradition. Berühmt ist München vor

allem für seine historischen Kirchenbauten. Der kühle, gläserne

Kubus der modernen »Herz Jesu Kirche« steht dazu im strengen

Kontrast.

The Allianz Arena, opened in May 2005, represents a glowing landmark

at the northern approaches to Munich and is a spectacular symbol of

the initiative towards new, modern architecture in Southern Germany.
