#1.1 Scriptures for (Htr. mul) meaning 'circumcise' Strong's 4135

This is a thorough bible study about the meaning of the Hebrew word , 'mul' translated'circumcise' (Strong's 4135), and gives every verse where the Hebrew word "mul" appears. Toobtain a true understanding of this word these scriptures need to be meditated on and notes madeof their meaning in different contexts. This requires putting scriptures together where they seemto have a similar meaning, and then meditating even more. The truth will be revealed inshaAllah.

In Genesis 17, there is a covenant between Abraham and Yahweh, and a covenant is what we'dcall today a contract, and a contract is simply a legally enforceable agreement between one or more "parties".

And Yahweh's covenant with Abraham in Genesis 17 is no different in principle. Abraham hassome obligations, and so does Yahweh, although the terms and conditions of this contract are alittle bit more unusual than the terms and conditions of your mortgage.

Yahweh's Obligations Under The Genesis 17 Covenant

Genesis 17:1 ¶ And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, Yahweh appeared to Abram, andsaid unto him, I am the Almighty El; walk before me, and be thou perfect. {perfect: or, upright,

or, sincere} 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply theeexceedingly.

Here Yahweh's outlining the first of a series of His obligations to Abraham, which are predicatedupon the condition that Abraham "walks before Elohiym and is upright or sincere".

3 And Abram fell on his face: and Elohiym talked with him, saying, 4 ¶ As for me, behold, mycovenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. {many.: Heb. multitude of

nations} 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham;for a father of many nations have I made thee. {Abraham: that is, Father of a great multitude} 6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall comeout of thee. 7 ¶ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee intheir generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a Elohim unto thee, and to thy seed after

thee. 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their Elohium. 9 And Elohimsaid unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in

their generations.

Ah, so it’s not just a question of Abraham following Elohim's way of life, Elohim requires thatAbraham's DESCENDENTS will keep this covenant too, but given the term or duration of thisagreement you'd expect that wouldn't you? That sums up Elohium's side of the contract. Elohimwas promising some wonderful blessings to Abraham's descendants. Now let's read Abraham'sand his descendants' obligations under the terms of this agreement.

Abraham's Obligations under The Genesis 17 Covenant

Genesis 17:10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. 11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; le·'o·vt (and it shall be a sign) of the covenant between me and you. 12 And hethat is eight days old yim·mo·vl (shall be circumcised) among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. {he that is eight.: Heb. a son of eight days} 13 He that is born in thy house, and he thatis bought with thy money, must needs yim·mō·w (be circumcised): and my covenant shall be in

your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of hisforeskin yim·mo·vl (is not circumcised), that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

This is a legally binding contract between Almighty Yahweh and Abraham, between the Creator of the Universe and the Father of the Faithful. In the context of WORLD history, this ranks upthere as one of the most important ever contracts. Yahweh Himself is signing on the dotted line.Genesis 17 makes it clear to us why Hebrew Israelites have always viewed circumcision assomething special.

Yahweh stipulates that the contract is everlasting, that's why it's between Yahweh on the onehand, and Abraham AND his descendants on the other hand.

For Hebrew Israelites circumcision is crucial to their identity - Like a

Passport

The covenant of circumcision, known in Hebrew as "brit-milah" is not just an abstract religiousritual that identifies someone as a Jew. It represents the hope of the Jewish people, that they and

their descendants would possess the Land of Israel, according to the promise that Yahweh madeto Abraham.

The brit-milah, circumcision, is a physical symbol of the relationship between Yahweh and theHebrew people. It is a constant reminder of what the Hebrew mission entails. Brit-milah, which

means "covenant of circumcision," is a Hebrew ritual performed on a baby boy eight days after he is born. It involves the removal of the foreskin from the penis by a mohel, who is a person thathas been trained to safely perform the procedure.

For Hebrew Israelites then, circumcision is something that defines them; because it confirms thatthey've descended from Abraham, and their part in the blessings promised to Abraham in Genesis17: and elsewhere. They have always believed, and believe today that circumcisionfundamentally says who they are. Ask any Hebrew Israelite what circumcision means to them. And they'll say, it shows that we are the children of Abraham, and have a part in Yahweh'scovenant with him.

So it’s clear to see how the practice of circumcision by Abraham and his descendants issomething that has inextricably linked his extended family together, not just UP through thegenerations to Abraham, but ACROSS to each other as an extended family that eventually became a multitude of nations and will continue to grow to become an innumerable multitude (asthe sand of the sea-shore), just as Yahweh promised in his part of the contract. For Israelites, (andmore specifically for Hebrews) circumcision inextricably identifies WHO THEY ARE, andunderstanding.

THIS is CRUCIAL to understanding and who and what is an Hebrew Israelite or who are Bani

Israel. TO FIRST CENTURY ISRAELITES /HEBREWS, CIRCUMCISION WAS LIKE APASSPORT. The people who were given the Covenant of Circumcision, through Abraham, arethe same people who were subsequently given the Covenant of the Torah. Circumcision becameknown as the mark of the people who were obligated to observe the Law.

It was proof of their identity as physical descendants of Abraham, proof of their citizenship of the nation of Israel, and proof that they were party to the same contract. And this issue of being a physical descendent of Abraham was crucially addressed throughout the Tawrah.

In Genesis 17: regarding the circumcision covenant we read:

Genesis 17:7 ¶ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee intheir generations for an everlasting covenant...

Genesis 17:13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs becircumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

Abraham and Ishmael were circumcised:

Genesis 17:23-27 “Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house, and all whowere bought with his money; every male among the men of Abraham's house, vai·ya·mal (and

circumcised) be·sar (the flesh) a·re·la·tam (of their foreskin) in the same day, as Elohim hadsaid to him. And Abraham was ninety-nine years old be·him·mo·lov (when he was circumcised)

be·sar (in the flesh) a·re·la·tov (of his foreskin). Ishmael, his son, was thirteen years old

be·him·mo·lov (when he was circumcised) be·sar (in the flesh) a·re·la·tov (of his foreskin). Inthe very same day Abraham nim·mo·vl (was circumcised) and Ishmael his son. And every malein Abraham's household, including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, nim·mo·lu (was circumcised) with him. ”

Some may ask, is this a physical circumcision of the penis, of the flesh? The Hebrew wordbe·sar or baw-sawr means: body, fat, lean fleshed, kin, mankind, nakedness, self, skin anyone*(1), bodies (2), body (39), fatter* (1), flesh (176), gaunt* (3), lustful* (1), man (1), mankind (3),mankind* (1), meat (34), men (1), person (1).

Similar to the Arabic word = Ba-Shiin-Ra which means: Skin/Pare/Strip/SkinContact/Epidermis (or insides) Mankind, Human beings, Lowest/basest/meanest sort of people,Perfect man

So what about Isaac was he also circumcised according to the Tawrah?

Genesis 21:4 “When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham vai·ya·mal (circumcised) him,as Elohim commanded him.”

Particularly in some so called Jewish belief today are under the impression that they are under the New Covenant the emphasis in the New Testament is on "spiritual" as opposed to physicalcircumcision. By this they mean: as long as descendants of Abraham are circumcised "in their

hearts" then their obligation under the covenant of circumcision is fulfilled. As such, they arguethat physical descendants of Abraham do not have to be physically circumcised today if they are"circumcised in their hearts".

However, the physical covenant of Genesis 17 for descendants of Abraham to be

circumcised , is twice said by Elohim to be everlasting; unless there is explicit scripturalevidence to the contrary, arguably the obligation on descendants of Abraham is to be both physically circumcised AND circumcised in their hearts. That is, for bona fide physicaldescendants of Abraham, it's not a question of whether to be physically circumcised OR spiritually circumcised; it’s about being BOTH physically circumcised AND spirituallycircumcised.

The concept of being "circumcised of the heart" originates in Deuteronomy. Yet if it wasintended to replace physical circumcision, why only a few years after it was revealed inDeuteronomy, did Elohim command Joshua to circumcise the Israelites again in Joshua 5?

Page 5: The Most High’s covenant of circumcision with Abraham's Descendents ordinances in the Tawrah confirmed in Qur'an

Joshua 5:2 At that time Yahweh said to Joshua, "Make flint knives for yourself, mol (and

circumcise) the sons of Israel again the second time." 3 So Joshua made flint knives for himself, vai·ya·mal (and circumcised) the sons of Israel at the hill. 4 And this is the reason why Joshuamal (circumcised) them: All the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt. 5 For all the people

who came out mu·lim (had been circumcised), but all the people born in the wilderness, on theway as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised. 6 For the children of Israel walkedforty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of Yahweh--to whom Yahweh swore that Hewould not show them the land which Yahweh had sworn to their fathers that He would give us,"a land flowing with milk and honey." 7 Then Joshua mal (circumcised) their sons whom Heraised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised onthe way. 8 So it was, when they had finished le·him·mo·vl (circumcising) all the people, thatthey stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed. 9 Then Yahweh said to Joshua, "This

day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place iscalled Gilgal to this day.

Since Joshua 5 comes so quickly after the encouragement to be "circumcised of the heart" inDeuteronomy 10:16 and 30:6 it shows that being "circumcised of the heart" is no substitute for compliance with the everlasting circumcision covenant of Genesis 17. So it could be argued thatthis proves, that for physical descendants of Abraham, Elohim's objective was that they

should be circumcised physically AND "circumcised in their hearts"?

Genesis 34:15-17 But in this will we consent to you: If you will be as we are, to have every malele·him·mol (of you be circumcised); Then will we give our daughters to you, and we will take

your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. But if youwill not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.

Genesis 34:22 Only in this will the men consent to us to dwell with us, to be one people, if everymale among us is circumcised, as they are circumcised.

Genesis 34:24 And all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and to Shechem hisson; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.

Exodus 12:44 But every man’s servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised

him, then shall he eat of it.Exodus 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with you, and will keep the Passover toYahweh, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one who is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat of it.

When the Israelites came out of Egypt, and celebrated the first Passover, they were allcommanded to be circumcised, including all the strangers who joined them:

Page 6: The Most High’s covenant of circumcision with Abraham's Descendents ordinances in the Tawrah confirmed in Qur'an

And Yahweh said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall nostranger eat thereof: But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hastcircumcised him, then shall he eat thereof. A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof. In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of thehouse; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. And

when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in theland: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. Thus did all the children of Israel; as Yahwehcommanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. And it came to pass the selfsame day, that Yahwehdid bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies. (Exodus 12:43-51).

There is no way of knowing how many of the Hebrew Israelites had been circumcised while theywere in Egypt. Probably most of them had been circumcised, although interference from theEgyptians might have prevented some circumcisions. The people who came out of Egypt were a

'mixed multitude' according to Exodus 12:38, so there were many people from the surroundingtribes who joined themselves to the Hebrew Israelites but had not been circumcised.

The commandment of the Lord was that all these people should be circumcised before they could participate in the first Passover and join the Israelites in the Exodus from Egypt. So here again,we see circumcision being associated with the return of the Israelite people to the Land of Israel.

Leviticus 12:3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Deuteronomy 10:16 And you shall circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-

necked.Deuteronomy 30:6 And Yahweh your Elohim will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.

Joshua 5:2-8 At that time Yahweh said to Joshua, Make yourselves sharp knives, and circumciseagain the children of Israel the second time. And Joshua made him sharp knives, andcircumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. And this is the reason why Joshuacircumcised: All the males who came out of Egypt, even all the men of war, died in thewilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt. Now all the people who came out werecircumcised: but all the people who were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth

out of Egypt, them they had not circumcised. And their sons, whom he raised up in their place, them Joshua circumcised: for they wereuncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way. And it came to pass, whenthey had finished circumcising all the people that they abode in their places in the camp, till theywere whole.

Psalm 58:7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bends his bow to shoothis arrows, let them be as cut off.

Psalm 90:6 In the morning it flourishes, and grows up; in the evening it is cut down, and withers.

Psalm 118:10-12 All nations surrounded me: but in the name of Yahweh will I destroy them. They surrounded me; yes, they surrounded me: but in the name of Yahweh I will cut them off. They surrounded me like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of Yahweh I will cut them off.

Jeremiah 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart, youmen of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury comes forth like fire, and burns thatnone can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Jeremiah 9:25 Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will punish all those who arecircumcised with the uncircumcised;

Circumcision is an obligation that was placed upon Abraham and his household, and thestrangers who lived among them, because of the covenant that Yahweh had made to give theLand of Israel to Abraham's descendants through the line of Isaac and Jacob. The covenant thatYahweh made with Abraham, to give him the Land, pre-dates the command to be circumcisedand is irrevokable. The Covenant of Circumcision has not vanished. The Hebrew Israelites areunder an obligation to be circumcised, because of the irrevokable covenant that Yahweh madewith Abraham, to give them the Land of Israel. The Gentiles are under no such obligation. For assimilated Jews and people of mixed origin, it depends on the extent of their association withthe Land of Israel and its people.

Now does the Qur’an ordain circumcision? Now some Muslims will argue and say according tothe Qur’an there are no ayats that indicate that circumcision required upon investigation. Theywill say Allah has already created the human shape in a perfected form as requiring no changessuch as the removal of a male's foreskin.

Now within the above information presented this is correct.

Allah says:

" Alladhi ahsana kulla shayin khalqahu (He who has made everything which He has

created most good): He began the creation of man with (nothing more than) clay, And made his progeny from a quintessence of the nature of a fluid despised: But He fashioned him in Sawahu

(due proportion) and breathed into him something of His spirit. And He gave you (the facultiesof) hearing and sight and feeling (and understanding): little thanks do ye give!" Sura 32:7-9

The Arabic word ‘Sawahu’ which comes from the root word SIIN-WAW-YA which means toperfect a thing, put a thing into a right or good state. Its verb form 'sawwa' carries themeaning of proportion, perfection, levelling.

"We have indeed created insāna  fi (in) aḥsani (the best) taqwīmin (of mould) Sura 95:4

Allah says in the Qur’an that insana is created in the best of mould why then is the maleincomplete and requires his foreskin to be removed if our Lord has revealed no decree for it nor hinted at it from His words that He has revealed to us?

All of Adamites and the Jinn/tiles are not required to remove the foreskin and this is also stressedin the Tawrah.

12 And he

that is eight days old yim·mo·vl (shall be circumcised) among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. {he that is eight.: Heb. a son of eight days} 13 He that is born in thy house, and he thatis bought with thy money, must needs yim·mō·w (be circumcised): and my covenant shall be

in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin yim·mo·vl (is not circumcised), that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

This is a legally binding contract between Almighty Yahweh and Abraham, between the Creator of the Universe and the Father of the Faithful. In the context of WORLD history, this ranks up

there as one of the most important ever contracts.

“le·'o·vt (and it shall be a sign) of the covenant between me and you.”

So the circumcision of Abraham and his descendants is a contract, a sign including an

everlasting covenant only between the Abrahamic Hebrew Nations.

So where the proof that this indeed was a practice is instituted for humanity the men of coursewhen clearly Allah instructed Prophet Muhammad to follow the commandments and warn byway of the Qur’an only in Sura 6:19; 50:45?

By doing so, he would not only be following the footsteps of Abraham but would be followingthe same ‘Deen’ inspired in all the Prophets. Some Muslims also state at no place in the

Qur’an does it mention that Abraham practiced circumcision or even if he did, whether this wasto be a practice to be reinstituted and continued.

Well, this is where we have to truly study the Qur’an carefully. Does Allah contradict Himself  between His Books, His Messengers, His laws and commandments? Of course Allah doesn’t.

Allah says,

“And remember that Abraham was tried by his Lord bikalimātin (with certain

commands/words), which he fulfilled: He said: "I will make thee an Imam lilnnāsi (to

Abrahamic Nations)." He pleaded: "And also (Imams) from dhurriyyatī (my offspring)!" Heanswered: "But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers." Sura 2:124

“And (remember) when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from you, and from Nuh(Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), and 'Îsa son of Maryam (Mary). We took from

them mīthāqan (a covenant) ghalī ẓan (strong).” Sura 33:7ghalī ẓan comes from the Arabic root Gh-Lam-Za means thick, gross, bulky, coarse, rough,hardness/rigid, strength, stern, vehemence, severe.

“And [of] Abraham, who waffā (fulfilled)” Sura 53:37

The Hebrew Scriptures says:

Leviticus 26:42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant withIsaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

Psalms 105:9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

Exodus 2:24 And Elohim heard their groaning, and Elohim rememberedhis covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Genesis 17:9 And Elohim said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

All throughout the Tawrah, we are given many references to the covenant between Abraham andYahweh/Allah and we are referred back to the circumcision.

We are told that Abraham, his seeds among him and every man child in his generations that is

born in the house or bought with money of any stranger which is not of Abraham’s seed should be circumcised. Any uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin not circumcised thatsoul shall be cut off from his people and has broken the covenant.

Just like Allah instructs Bani Israel/Ahlul Kitab to follow the Tawrah, Injil in the Qur’an Allahalso instructs Bani Israel/Ahlul Kitab to follow the laws, rites, instructions within the Tawrah andthe Injil as well. Hence, the Qur’an recognizes different Shariah/Laws revealed to differentProphets as a part of a fundamental ‘deen/system’. And the circumcision of Abraham and hisdescendants was only for Abraham and Bani Israel.

“We have revealed the Book to you in all Truth muṣaddiqan (confirming) what is between hishands of the Book and a guardian over it. So judge among them by what Allah has revealed toyou and do not follow their desires instead of the Truth which has come to you. We have givenshir'ʿatan (a law) wamin'hājan (and a way) of life to each of you. Had Allah wanted, He couldhave made you into ummatan (a nation) wāḥidatan (one), but He wanted to see who are themore pious ones among you. Compete with each other in righteousness. All of you will return toAllah who will tell you the truth in the matter of your differences.” Sura 5:48

“sharaʿa (He has ordained) for you of dini what He enjoined upon Noah and that which Wehave revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Isa- to establish dini

and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to whichyou invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].” Sura 42:13

So we have in the Qur’an clearly conveying to us that there was a Shari-atan / law for allnations that were sent specific Prophets. It is clear that Allah has given the HebrewIsraelites/Bani Israel/Ahlul Kitab each their own laws and an open way. There is no proof that previous laws are incumbent on followers of the Qur’an unless specifically stated by the Qur’an.

“To every ummatin (nation) We appointed mansakan (rites) they perform it which they mustfollow: let them not then dispute with thee on the matter, but do thou invite (them) to thy Lord:

for thou art assuredly on the Right Way. And if they contend with you, say: Allah best knowswhat you do. Allah will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection concerning that whereinye used to differ.” Sura 22:67-69

“Our Lord, and make us Muslims to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation to You.manāsikanā (And show us our rites) and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Acceptingof repentance, the Merciful.” Sura 2:128

“Then when you have completed manāsikakum (your acts of service), remember Allah likeyour [previous] remembrance of your fathers or with [much] greater remembrance. And amongthe people is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world," and he will have in the Hereafter noshare.” Sura 2:200

manāsikakum comes from Nun-Siin-Kaf  = to lead a devout life, be pious, be godly,worship/serve Allah, sacrifice, slaughter an animal by way of sacrifice, act of

worship/servitude, performers/observers of such acts, rite of devotion , to wash and purify, toapply oneself.

"If they charge you with falsehood, say: "My work to me, and yours to you! ye are free fromresponsibility for what I do, and I for what you do!" Sura 10:41

"On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! condemn us not if we forget or fall into

error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which you did lay on those before us; Our Lord!Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant usforgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Protector; Help us against those who stand againstfaith." Sura 2:286

"It is He Who has made you Khalaifa (vicegerents) inheritors of the earth: He has raised you inranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He has given you: for thy Lord isquick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." Sura 6:165

"And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to

you, and our Allah and your Allah is One, and to Him do we submit" Sura 29:46

This is in unison with the Hebrew Scriptures:

Numbers 9:1-5 “And Yahweh spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, Let the children of Israelalso keep the passover at his appointed season. In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, yeshall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the chuk·ko·tav (rites / statutes) of it, andaccording to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it. And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover. And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of

the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that Yahweh commandedMoses, so did the children of Israel. ”

chuk·ko·tav comes from chuqqah something prescribed, an enactment, statute

appointed (1), customs (5), due (1), fixed order (1), fixed patterns (1), ordinance (5), ordinances(1), statute (25), statutes (62), statutory (2).

In the Qur’an, Allah makes an appeal to Bani Israel:

"O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfil My

COVENANT so that I fulfil your COVENANT, and fear none but Me. And believe in what Ihave sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in

it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me. Confound not truth withfalsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth. Establish salaat, pay the poor-due, and bow your heads with those who bow service. Do you order righteousness of the people and forgetyourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason? Seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard save for the humble-minded,” Sura 2/40-45

"And Children of Israel! Remember when We took your COVENANT and We raised above youthe Mount (saying): "Hold fast to that which We have given you, and remember that which istherein so that you may become Al-Muttaqun" Sura 2/63

“And (remember) when We took mīthāqa (A COVENANT) from the Children of Israel,(saying): Worship none but Allah (Alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, andto orphans and Al-Masakin (the poor), and speak good to people , and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat. Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders.”Sura 2/83

“And (remember) when We took mīthāqakum (YOUR COVENANT) warafaʿnā (and We

raised) fawqakumu (above you) ṭūra (the Mount) (saying), “Hold firmly to what We havegiven you and hear (Our Word).” They said, “We have heard and disobeyed.” And their heartsabsorbed (the worship of) the calf because of their disbelief. Say: “Worst indeed is that which

your faith enjoins on you if you are believers.” Sura 2/93

“Verily, We took the COVENANT of the Children of Israel and sent Messengers to them.Whenever there came to them a Messenger with what they themselves desired not, – a group of them they called liars, and others among them they killed.” Sura 5/70

Furthermore, the Qur’an dispenses with certain laws of the previous scriptures and remains thesole and ultimate authority for the believers. However, this does not negate the fact that theQur’an conveys to Bani Israel/Hebrew Israelites/Ahlul Kitab to their own law prescribed in theTawrah.

The Hadu (Jews) judged by the Tawrah when the Prophet Muhammad was still alive:

Allah says:

"But yuḥakkimūnaka (how is it that they ask thee for judgment) seeing that they have theTaurat, fīhā (in it) ḥuk'mu (is Allah's injunctions) - and thereafter turn away? Such as these, then, are no [true] believers." Sura 5/43

“We have sent down the Tawrah, fīhā (in it) hudan (is guidance) wanūrun (and a light); the prophets who have surrendered yaḥkumu (judged) bihā (with it) for those who are Jews, aswell as the Rabbis, and the Priests, for what they were entrusted of Allah's Scripture, and theywere witness over. So do not fear the people but fear Me; and do not purchase with Myrevelations a cheap price. And whoever does not judge with what Allah has sent down, then these

are the rejecters." Sura 5/44

"In the Torah We prescribed for them fīhā (in it) a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for anose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, an equal wound for a wound: if anyone forgoes thisout of charity, it will serve as atonement for his bad deeds. Those who do not judge according towhat Allah has revealed are doing grave wrong." Sura 5/45

Allah tells the Ahlul Inji/People of the Injil/Gospel to judge by what they have in terms of

Injil:

"walyaḥkum (And let judge) with the people of the Injeil what Allah has sent down in it. Andwhoever does not judge by what Allah has sent down, then these are the vile ones." Sura 5/47

Allah confirms in the Qur'an that the truth can be found within their own Tawrah as

specific references their Tawrah:

"But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise." Exodus 21/23-25

"And We sent, following in their footsteps, Isa, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Tawrah; and We gave him the Injil, fīhi (in it) hudan (was guidance)

wanūrun (and light) and confirming that which preceded it of the Taurat as guidance andinstruction for the righteous." Sura 5/46

" Tabiuna RasulAllah (Those who follow) the messenger , Nabiya Ummiya (the gentle

prophet), whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures) in the Tawrah and theInjil/Gospel;- for he commands them to what is right and forbids from what is wrong (munkar);he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (andimpure) (Khabaitha); He relieves from them their burdens and from the fetters which were

upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which

is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper." Sura 7:157

Again, at no point does the ayat above state that those that follow the previous scriptures shouldabandon the judgment or laws given by their own scriptures. The ayats itself expounds thecontext. The Prophet clearly is being informed as one who forbids them of what is wrong or disliked (munkar) and makes lawful for them that which is right. This cannot be a reference to

the Hebrew commandments as it is unacceptable from a Quran's position to assert that the

Biblical commandments were either wrong ( munkar), bad or impure (Khabitha),

especially when ayats Sura 5:43-47 clearly indicate otherwise.

According to the Injil, even Prophet Yahshua/Isa ibn Maryam was circumcised:

“When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’sgo to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which Yahweh has told us about.’ So theyhurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When theyhad seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and allwho heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all thesethings and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising Elohimfor all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. On the eighthday, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Yahshua, the name the angel had givenhim before he had been conceived.” Luke 2:15-21

The burdens and fetters must therefore be a reference to self-imposed extra Biblical traditions, incorrect practices or difficulties of the People of the Book prevalent with those in the vicinity of the Prophet. Those that followed the messenger, believed him, honoured him and listened to hisadvice and calling would have had these difficulties removed.
