Salat debunked by the Tawrah and the

    Quran

alt(Arabic: See TfdalhorSee Tfdalt; pl. See Tfd)is thepractice of formal worship inIslam. Its importance forMuslims is indicated by its status

as one of theFive Pillars ofIslam, with a few dispensations for those for whom it would

be difficult. People who find it physically difficult can perform Salat in a way suitable

for them. To perform valid Salat, Muslims must be in a state of ritual purity, which ismainly achieved byritual ablution,(wu), according to prescribed procedures.

Under theHanbali School of thought, a person who doesn't pray 5 times a day is a

disbeliever. The other3 schools of thought say that the person who doesn't pray 5 times

a day is just a sinner. Prayer is regarded as a dividing line between a believer and a

    non-believer (according toSahih Muslim).

Salat consists of the repetition of a unit called arakah (pl. rakat) consisting ofprescribed actions and words. The number of obligatory (fard)rakat varies from twoto four according to the time of day or other circumstances (such as Friday

congregational worship, which has two rakat). The minimal, obligatory rakat may be

supplemented with acts that are optional but are considered meritorious. Prayer is fard(obligatory) for all Muslims except those who areretarded, prepubescent, very sick,

lactating, pregnant, menstruating, frail and elderly or travelling on a long journey.

For Muslims of theSunni and Ismaili Mustalpersuasions, obligatory salat isprescribed at five periods of the day. These are measured according to the movement of

the sun. These are: near dawn (fajr), after midday has passed and the sun starts to tilt

downwards / Noon (dhuhr or uhr), in the afternoon (asr), just after sunset (maghrib)

and around nightfall ('isha'). Under some circumstances ritual worship can be

shortened or combined (according to prescribed procedures). In case a ritual worship is

not performed at the right time, it must be performed later. Muslim doctrine permits

uhr (, "noon") and ar ( ., "afternoon") prayers to be performed in succession"Salahakba" (alh)is an Arabic word whose basic meaning is "bowing, homage, worship, prayer". In its English usage, the reference of the word is almost always

confined to the Muslim formal, obligatory worship.

Translating salat as "prayer" is not usually considered precise enough, as "prayer" can

indicate several different ways of relating to God; personal prayer or supplication is

calleddu(literally "call") in Islamic usage.Muslims themselves use several terms to refer to salatdepending on their language or

culture. In many parts of the world, including many non-Arab countries such as

Indonesia, the Arabic term salatis used. The other major term is the Persian word

namz( ), used by speakers of theIndo-Iranian languages (e.g.,Persian,Urdu)Turkish and Bosnian.

The chief purpose of Salat in Islam is to act as a person's communication with and

    remembrance of Allah.

Salat is also cited as a means of restraining a believer from social wrongs and moral

    deviancy.

salat is a means of communication verbal and non-verbal of ours.1

Now according to the Hebrew Scriptures Salah(, Shelach,ISO 259-3 elHebrewword #7974 inStrong's)is an ancestor of theIsraelites according to theTable of Nations

    inGenesis 10.Shelach: a descendant of Shem.2

Arpachshad fathered Cainan, Cainan fathered Shelah(la),wela(and Shelah)fathered Eber. Genesis 10/24

And Arphaxadlivedafterhe begat of Shelah (Salah)fourhundredand threeyears, and begatsonsand daughters.Genesis 11/13

    ArpachshadfatheredShelah,andShelahfatheredEber. 1 Chronicles 1/18

He is thus one of the table's "seventy names". He is called Shelahin1 Chronicles 1:18

    and Sala(Greek word #4527 inStrong's)in the Septuagint andLuke 3:35.

son of Serug, son of Reu,son of Peleg, son of Eber, son of Shelah (Sala). Luke 3:35In the ancestral line fromNoah toAbraham,he is the son ofArpachshad (in the

Masoretic Text)orCainan (in theSeptuagint and Luke) and the father ofEber. The

name "Eber" for his son is the originaleponym of theHebrew people, from the root

'abar ( ,Hebrew word #5674 inStrong's), "to cross over".There has been a long exhausted debate about Salah, Salaat..and we have only begin to

touch the surface of it. We have to remember nothing has changed from the past up

until now in the present Allah says He prescribed the say way of life enjoined upon the

earlier Prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Muhammad Kabir Isa and that is touphold the deen and not to be divided.

"sharaa (He has ordained) lakum (for you) mina (of) dni (the same way of life /system / code of conduct) ma (what) wa (was enjoined) upon Noah, and what isrevealed to you, and what waayn (We enjoined) upon Abraham and Moses and Isa.aqm (to establish) dna (the system / code of conduct) and not be divided. It is simplytoo difficult for the idol-worshippers to accept what you advocate. Allah is the one who

brings towards Him whom ever He wills. He guides towards Himself those who

    submit." Sura 42:13

In the first, simple statement, we have to remember its the majority that says Salaat

means prayer yet Allah warns us not to follow the majority.

Period. The second verse says there is one ilah and He is common to the Hebrew Nation

and that all people need to be united in serving the one unseen Allah Who revealed the

Scripture to the prophets and messengers.

So what does 'wa-aqm salata' mean? The Arabs say it means: Observe the ritualprayers and pay the religious tithes' as I have showed there is no evidence in the Torah

that says something about a ritual prayer being practiced by Bani Israel.

'wa-aqm salata' means keep the commandments and keep them pure'

Collins Co-build Dictionary defines commitment as a strong belief in an idea or system, especially when it is shown by your action and behaviour. If you commitment yourself

to a course of action you decide that you will do it and you let people know about your

decision. In the context ofthe Quran, man is required to uphold his commitments allthe time when serving his Lord. Thus, it is a way of life. He serves Allah by disciplining

himself to observe the sanctions with in Allah's system.'

In Sura 6/162 the Prophet and those who submitted to Allah encourage to themselves

of their commitment, their obligation as servants of Allah.

Now in the Qur'an what does Allah say about Abraham and his

    descendants?

"(Abraham said): "Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated

valley in Your 'Inviolable House', our Lord, liyuqm alata. So make hearts among thepeople incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might begrateful." Sura 14/37

Allah says in the Qur'an that a covenant was made with Bani Israel (Children of Israel)

so we should be able to refer back to this covenant in the Torah and the Torah should be

able to validate that Salaat as prayer was established with Bani Israel.

    Allah says:

"O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfil My

COVENANT so that I fulfil your COVENANT, and fear none but Me. And believe in

what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first

to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me. :

And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it]. wa-

aqm (And establish) alata and give zakah " Sura 2/40-43

"And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying): Serve

none save Allah (only), wabil-wlidayni (and with the parents) i'snan (be good) andto kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; wa-aqmalata wat zakata. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse." Sura

    2/83

"Indeed Allah took the covenant from the children of Israel, and We appointed twelve

leaders among them. And Allah said: "I am with you if you Iqamat-as-salatand give

Zakat and believe in My Messengers; honour and assist them, and lend a good loan to

Allah, verily, I will expiate your sins and admit you to Gardens under which rivers flow

(in Paradise). But if any of you after this, disbelieved, he has indeed gone astray from

    the Straight Path." Sura 5/12

Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the Prophets of the

descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of thedescendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When

the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and

weeping. Now there hath succeeded them a later generation a(who neglected)

alata (keeping the commandments) wa-ittaba(and they followed)the lusts. But

they will meet deception." Sura 19/58-59

All in the Torah no where do we see that Yahweh/Allah established for Bani Israel

prayers to be done throughout the day. Hence, the majority of Muslims between the

Sunnis and Shites say that Salaat means prayer yet Allah says that following themajority will lead us astray.

    Allah says:

"If you follow the majority of the people on earth, they will divert you from the path of

Allah. They only follow conjecture, and they only guess." Sura 6:116

Remember Allah refers back to the covenant that He made with Bani Israel and

mentions that Bani Israel was supposed to wa-aqm alata and if this meant prayerthen we should fine it in the Tawrah.

"And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying): Serve

none save Allah (only), wabil-wlidayni (and with the parents) i'snan (be good)and

to kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly lilnnsi; wa-aqm alata

wat zakata. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse." Sura 2/83

And when my servant asks you concerning me, then surely I am very near; ujbu (IANSWER) dawata (TO THE PRAYER) di (OF THE CALLER)when he/she calls

me; so they should answer my call too, and believe in me, so that they may be guided

    aright." Sura 2/186

Daa in Arabic means to call, request, supplication or prayer, to pray; to ascribe, toattribute. It means a prayer, supplication, call, shout, petition, a caller, summoner, who

    who prays.

At that, Zechariah da(PRAYED / CALLED/ INVOKED) his Lord, qla (SAYING),"My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of

It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he mightdwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and

continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, daaw(THEY BOTH PRAY / CALL /

    among the grateful." Sura 7/189

When the human being is affected by hardship, dan(HE CALLS / INVOKES US)while lying on his side, sitting or standing, but when We relieve him from hardship, he

starts to act as though he had never yadun(CALLED / INVOKED / PRAYED TO US)

When the waves cover them like shadows, daaw(THEY PRAY / CALL /SUPPLICATE TO) Allah with sincerity idna (IN THE SYSTEM),but when We bring

them safely to land, only some of them follow the right path. No one rejects Our

revelations except the treacherous ungrateful ones. Sura 31/32

When some trouble toucheth man, da(HE PRAYS)unto his Lord, turning to Him:but when He bestoweth a favour upon him as from Himself, he forget kna yad

(WHAT HE USED TO CALL)before, and he doth set up rivals unto Allah, thus

misleading others from Allah's Path. Say, "Enjoy thy blasphemy for a little while: verily

thou art (one) of the Companions of the Fire!" Sura 39/8

And when adversity touches man, dan(HE PRAYS TO US);then when We bestowon him a favor from Us, he says, "I have only been given it because of [my] knowledge."

Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know. Sura 39/49

Unto Him is dawatu (THE PRAYER).Those unto whom yadna (THEY INVOKE /PRAY TO / SUPPLICATE TO) beside Allah respond to them not at all, save as (is the

response to) one who stretcheth forth his hands toward water (asking) that it may come

unto his mouth, and it will never reach it. duu (THE PRAYER) of disbelievers goeth(far) astray.Sura 13/14

"Say: id'(invoke), or id'(invoke)unto the Beneficent, unto which soever ye tad(invoke). His are the most beautiful names. And you be not loud-voiced in thy

bialtika (worship) nor yet silent therein, but follow a way between." Sura 17/110

What is a polytheist? A polytheist is one who worships or believes in

    more than one god.

If Salat means prayer, a good question to ask is Allah commanding the polytheists to

uphold/maintain the prayer, even though they are polytheists?

Do they pray to their gods? Is Allah giving them an ultimatum somehow convert to

Islam and uphold/maintain the Salat (prayer) or if they don't they will get punished?

My answer to all three questions would be no, because this doesn't make sense.

However, for those who believe Salat meansprayer, they are forced into a corner hence

they have to accept their interpretation doesn't make sense and reconsider their view of

salat or do they continue to follow salat means prayer and make the verses fit their

    view?

    8

If they do not, their entire argument for salat means prayer collapses because there is no

way Allah would use the exact same wording for polytheists and believers, telling both

of them to uphold/maintain the prayer! I believe ritual prayers especially when you

dont know what your saying, what the Imam is saying is a pointless method of

performing any action, and it as insignificant upon the comprehension of theunderlying concepts and principles.

Salah / Salat did not always mean a ritual prayer and the transformation of Salat was

not sudden, but a deliberate, slow and gradual corruption, such conspiracies have to be

state sponsored, so could only be implemented upon the establishment of a state, a so

called, Islamic state, consider the implications of such a criminal undertaking. This was

also an attempt to take us away from knowing the Tawrah.

At the time of the Prophet Muhammad, this same sovereign model had been stripped of

almost all power, and its sovereignty removed by the true understandings of theQuran, as every true Muslims knows, NOT even the Prophet Muhammad can be yoursovereign, only Allah is sovereign, meaning the guidance of the Quran is the sovereignguide of each human being.

Allah sent the Prophet Muhammad to give freedom; the ignorant of religious dogma

enslaved the Muslims back into subjugation. The Sunni sect in Islam has deviated from

the True or Pure teachings of Islam and they are notorious for brainwashing their new

converts and followers by controlling information that is given to them, which is a

radical violation of Islam. The Quran teaches us to use our minds, investigate, seekknowledge, evidence, and proof.

However, when you control information and do not foster independent thinking, thus,

then you are breeding a slave making religion and this is exactly what the so-called

sheiks, imams, ulama, mullas, religious leaders of their sect have done to majority of

    Muslims today.

    The Qur'an says it:

"If you follow the majority of the people on earth, they will divert you from the path ofAllah. They only follow conjecture, and they only guess." Sura 6:116

    The Tawrah says it:

"Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not

pervert justice by siding with the crowd..." Exodus 23/2

The establishment of Hadithic Islam fashioned a sovereign religion, so removing the

deen, the first step to sovereignty is the creation of a religious hierarchy, the Ulema so

converting the physical action of a deen (complete guide to living) into the in-

action/non-action, and compulsory ignorance, of a religion, with the creation of:

    1) Imams (leader of Mosque prayer);2) Sheiks (a man of advanced years, a senior official in an Islamic religious

    organization);

    3) Muftis (an expert on Islamic religious law);4) Ayatollahs (miraculous sign of God);5) Ulemas (Muslim legal scholars);6) Qadi (a Judge of Sharia law);7) Faqih (a Jurist of Sharia law);8) Muhaddith ( an Islamic title referring to one who profoundly knows and narrates

    Hadiths);

    9) Maulvis (religious cleric or teacher);10)Maulana ( is a title meaning, our Lord or our Master an address given to a

    sovereign); etc.

Ritual: established formal behaviour, a prescribed pattern of observance, performance

of formal acts: the observance of actions or procedures in a set, ordered, and ceremonial

    way.

Does the Quran direct us to perform the sovereign based, ancient religious act ofprayer?

Does the Quran direct us to pray five times aday, give greater relevance to times of theweek, describe minute details of etiquette and superstition associated with sovereign

    based prayer?

Does the Quran mention the call to prayer?

Does it explain that much is missing from the Quran, so there is avital need for Hadith,(if you believe this to be true, explain the contradiction in verse 41:3 of the Quran)?

People who believe Salat means prayer and yet dont know what is in the Quran, in theTawrah, dont know anything about the commandments, the laws, the ordinances, theinstructions, the decrees of our Lord yet with this view of Salat meaning prayer it is no

wonder peoplesprayers are never answered, peoplesactions are without guidance, and peoples thoughts are confused.

Ignorantly performing ritual is of no benefit, you must understand the methodology of

the system, by this understanding you can both get full benefit from your actions, and

    improve and evolve your practices.

pedantic means too concerned with formal rules and details: too concerned with what

are thought to be correct rules and details, e.g. in language.

"wa aqamu al salat" = "and uphold/maintain the salat"

Now reading the Quran this phrase is used many times (about 40) for believers in 'thesome of which are in Sura 2:177, 2:277, 7:170, 13:22, 22:41, 35:18, 35:29, 42:38. And in

these occurrences it is taken, by some, to mean "prayer" thus clearly, it is very

interesting then, when 'the Quran' uses this same phrase for polytheists!

Freedom from obligation (is proclaimed) from Allah and His messenger toward thoseof the idolaters with whom ye made a treaty. Travel freely in the land four months, and

know that ye cannot escape Allah and that Allah will confound the disbelievers. And a

proclamation from Allah and His messenger to all men on the day of the Greater

Pilgrimage that Allah is free from obligation to the idolaters, and (so is) His messenger.

So, if ye repent, it will be better for you; but if ye are averse, then know that ye cannot

escape Allah. Give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom to those who disbelieve,

Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they

have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so

complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the

righteous. And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever

you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every

place of ambush. But if they should repent, wa-aqm alata (ESTABLISH PRAYER),and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so

that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is

because they are a people who do not know. How can there be for the polytheists a

treaty in the sight of Allah and with His Messenger, except for those with whom you

made a treaty at al-Masjid al-haram? So as long as they are upright toward you, be

upright toward them. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him]. How [can there

be a treaty] while, if they gain dominance over you, they do not observe concerning you

any pact of kinship or covenant of protection? They satisfy you with their mouths, but

their hearts refuse [compliance], and most of them are defiantly disobedient. They have

exchanged the signs of Allah for a small price and averted [people] from His way.

Indeed, it was evil that they were doing. They do not observe toward a believer any

pact of kinship or covenant of protection. And it is they who are the transgressors. But if

they repent, wa-aqm salata (ESTABLISH PRAYER), and give zakah, then they areyour brothers in deen; and We detail the verses for a people who know. And if they

break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of

disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred] to them; [fight them that] they mightcease. Sura 9/1-12

A true repentance obviously means actually acknowledging wrongdoing, apologizing,

and ceasing wrongdoing in given to us in Sura 25:71. Those who do not are warned of

an upcoming painful retribution. If any of them now repent, they are required touphold/maintain the oath/bond/commitment and bring forth the betterment. If they

do this, their way is cleared. If they disagree, they can continue to be fought until they

accept the terms or ask for protection (i.e. give up but still not accept the terms). If they

do this, protection is granted, and they are delivered to their safety/security out with

    the land/community.

As you can see so far, all options are covered, except what happens to those who repent

and uphold/maintain the oath/bond and bring forth the betterment initially but

eventually break the oath/bond. This is covered in 9:11-12. If the oaths are now broken,

the leaders of this activity are fought until this activity is stopped.

Salea Wastala means attachment, to remain stuck. From this reference Raghib says that

verse (74/43), "We were not Musalleen," means that they did not follow the Rusul.

Accordingly Qurtabi also writes that Sal'at would mean to remain within the bounds ofthe Laws of Allah, and Tasleah means to walk behind a person so closely that there

remains no distance; not to surpass him but remain closely behind.

    Mistranslation:

About the criminals, They will say, What hath brought you to this burning?" We werenot ofmualna(those who prayed) Sura 74/41-43

    Correct translation:

About the criminals, They will say, What hath brought you to this burning?"We werenot ofmualna(those who followed the commandments).Sura 74/43

This path can easily be adopted by closely and steadfastly following the dictates of

Allah's Book, i.e., the Quran. Hence the basic meaning of Salat is complete concordancewith the commandments / laws / ordinance, decrees / instructions / statutesand

thereby incorporating in one's own self Allah's most balanced Attributes, of course, as

    far as is humanly possible.

    Allah says,

"ib'ghata (Assume the attributes of Allh)! waman (and who)asanu (is better)thanAllhib'ghatan (in attributes)? We are His worshippers ever. " 2/138

sib'ghatacomes from the Arabic d b ghayn ( ( and it means to dye, colour, baptize, dip, immerse, hue, assume the attribute, mode, mature, code of law, religion.

Sibghatunmeans Dye; Religion; Nature; Attribute. In the Qur'an again in Surah 2/138

the Attributes of Allah and His code of law is called Allah's Sibghah.

    Allah says:

Do you not see that Allah is He Whom do glorify all those who are in the heavens andthe earth, and the (very) birds with expanded wings? He knowsaltahu(the duties of

those that are to be carried out)watasbahu (and its glorification). And Allah is

Cognizant of what they do. Sura 24/41

This clearly means that everything in the universe knows by instinct, what are its duties

and how to perform them and what is its destiny. As far as animal world is concerned,

    they do it by instinct.

But if we as human beings wants to know, what is our Tasbih and Salat, we read the

Book of Allah, the Tawrah, the Quran that has all these clarificationcontaining thecommandments, laws, instructions, statutes, decrees which basically give us the do's

and the don'ts in which reading the Book of Allah rather it be the Tawrah or Quran.

This is why Allah calls this term a special term, Iqamat-As-Sal'at

Hence, to follow the commandments, laws, instructions, and statutes, decrees of the

Tawrah or the Quran is Iqamat-As-Salat. This is not possible individually and can onlybe done collectively; that is why the Quran has used the plural tense for this.

It is the responsibility of an Islamic State as it was for the Children of

And they do it by mutual consultations in Sura 42/38.

And those whois'tajb(respond)to their Lordwa-aqmalata (follow thecommandments), and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We

have bestowed on them. Sura 42/38

Hence, this system covers all the aspects of life, particularly the economic

    system.

    Allah tells us about Shuaib:

"And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah

; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the

scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an

all-encompassing Day. And O my people, give full measure and weight in justice and

do not deprive the people of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading

corruption. That which Allah leave with you is better for you if ye are believers; and I

am not a keeper over you." Sura 11/84-86

Shu'ayb even had Salaat in and the people wanted to know did the Salat called them

away from the worship which their fathers practiced,

"They said: O Shuayb does your salat command you that we leave yabudu (worship)which our fathers practiced or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed, you are

the forbearing, the discerning!" Sura 11:87

    Shu'ayb's response was:

"He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my

Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him... ? And I do not intend

to differ from you in that whichanhkum(I have forbidden you) anhu (from it);I

only intendi'la (reform)as much as I am able. And my success is not but through

Allah. Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return. And O my people, let not [your]

dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of

Noah or the people of Hud or the people of salih. And the people of Lot are not fromyou far away." Sura 11/88-89

Now Shuayb knew Salat wasnt about praying. What prayer tells Shuayb what isharam and halal? Praying does not teach us how to know right from wrong. Shuaybalso was a reformer. Prayer doesnt reform people from back actions.

Upholding the commandments / laws / statutes / ordinances / decrees / instructions

of Allah by application putting them to practice daily is what prevent us from evil

deeds and this in turn after we teach others thus makes us reformers.

Recite that which hath been inspired in youkitbi(of the Book),wa-aqimialata (anduphold / keep the commandments). Indeed, salata (the Commandments /

Instructions) prevents from lewdnesswal-munkari (and evil deeds), but verily

remembrance of Allah is more important. And Allah knoweth what ye do. Sura 29/45

    Allah says,

And there followed them successors who inherited the Scripture [while] taking thecommodities of this lower life and saying, "It will be forgiven for us." And if an offer

like it comes to them, they will [again] take it. Was not the covenant of the Scripture

taken from them that they would not say about Allah except the truth, and they studied

what was in it? And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah, so will

you not use reason? But those whoyumassikna(hold fast)bil-kitbi(to the Book)

wa-aqmsalata (and uphold / keep the commandments),indeed, We will not allow

to be lost the reward ofmu'lina(the reformers).Sura 7/169-170

Again, Allah reminds of the Children of Israel and the covenant that was neglected,

abandoned, lost. Then Allah tells us that those who hold fast to the Book now how are

we to do this by praying 5 times a day? Is this calling to the laws / commandments /

statutes / instructions / decrees and ordinances of Allah and will this reform the

    communities?

Of course not, now calling to the laws / commandments / statutes / instructions /

decrees and ordinances and putting them to practice and collectively the entire

community and executing these commandments will bring reform.

The curse that came upon the Children of Israel, our ancestors was not because they

neglected, abandoned, lost their prayers of the Most High. This doesnt make any sense.People pray all the time and dont pay heed, uphold, keep the commandments of theMost High. The curse was brought upon the Children of Israel was because they broke

Also, what brought destruction to nations wasnt because people abandoned theirprayers because prayers dont bring reform. Praying is one little tiny aspect of Salat.

    Allah says:

And your Lord would not have destroyed the cities unjustly while their peoplemu'lina(were reformers).Sura 11/117

Allah says as long as there were reformers in the cities Allah would not destroy the

cities. Reformers are not those who establish prayer 5 times a day. Reformers put in the

work getting in the trenches calling the people to the Most Highs laws /commandments / instructions / decrees / statutes and judgments.

    So the people who said,

O Shu'aib! does your Salat not permit us even to spend our wealth as we desire?"

Clearly, it seems that they did not understand as to what type of Salat is one which

gives directions even in economic matters; they thought Salat is just a prayer or some

    sort of ritual.

In a nutshell it would pose one simple question.Would a person like to decide his affairs according to his desires, wishes or would he

surrender before with the commandments / laws / ordinance, decrees / instructions /

statutes of Allah? Salat, in fact, is the recognition that our personality needs guidance of

a superior authority basically conveying to us to be obedient to Allahs commandments/ laws / ordinance, decrees / instructions / statutes / judgments.

If the community as a whole are working to establish a socio-economic system that

proves the greatness of the Sustainer of this universe basically helping to establish the

Kingdom of Allah on earth through all aspects such as political, socio-economic aspects.

In Hebrew dictionary Salawat (plural of Sal'at) is the praying place of

    Hebrew Israelites:

Those who have been driven from their homes unjustly only because they said: OurLord is Allah - For had it not been for Allah's repelling some men by means of others,

cloisters and churcheswaalawtun (and synagogues)and mosques, wherein the

name of Allah is oft mentioned, would assuredly have been pulled down. Verily Allah

Salat has also been used for a particular practice. On the whole, whatever a Mumin is

doing by following the commandments / laws / ordinance, decrees / instructions /

statutes / judgments of Allah, without any restrictions of time or formation, is Salat.

But where ever in the Quran it refers to a particular action, its form and timing has tobe fixed. In this regard there are various verses in the Quran, e.g. Salat can be defined at

times pending on the context as prayers and at times could encompass the

    congregational prayers as well.

Wherever Aqim-us-Sal'at is referred to, it means the establishment of the whole divine

system, the obedience to the commandments / laws / ordinance, decrees / instructions

/ statutes / judgments of Allah, and the observance of all the duties expected of a

    Mumin.

At other places, pending on context Salat could refer prayers as well other duties which

are a part of the whole divine system. For this distinction one has to see the whole verse

and the context in which it is brought. Similarly the word Musalleen is referred to those

persons who are at the height of dignity in Sura 70/22-35.

The Most High promised the Children of Israel if they obeyed His Voice

/ Messenger and kept the covenant the Children of Israel would be Histreasured possession:

Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will bemy treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine... Exodus 19/5

The response from the Children of Israel:

The people all responded together, We will do everything Yahuah has said. SoMoses brought their answer back to Yahuah. Exodus 19/8

Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded,We will do everything Yahuah has said; we will obey.Exodus 24/7

The Most High warns the Children of Israel not to forget the covenant

    and not to commit Shirk:

Be careful not to forget the covenant of Yahuah your Elohim that he made with you;do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything Yahuah your Elohim has

    forbidden. Deuteronomy 4/23

The Children of Israel are to keep His commandments:

Know therefore that Yahuah your Elohim is Elohim; he is the faithful Elohim, keepinghis covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his

    commandments. Deuteronomy 7/9

If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then Yahuah yourElohim will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors.Deuteronomy 7/12

The Children of Israel were brought disaster according to all the curses

of the covenant because they didntaqmalata/ establish the Salat

    (keep the commandments):

Yahuah will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to allthe curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law. Deuteronomy 7/12

And the answer will be: It is because this people `azab(abandoned / forsook)thecovenant of Yahuah, Elohim of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when

he brought them out of Egypt. Deuteronomy 29/25

`azab means:to leave, loose, forsake, to leave, to depart from, leave behind, leave, let

alone, to leave, abandon, forsake, neglect, apostatize, to let loose, set free, let go, free, to

be left to, to be forsaken, to be deserted, to restore, repair, to repair.

So the Most High says that the Children of Israel abandoned, departed from the

covenant of Yahuah by not singling Him out alone. However, they fell into worshiping

other gods and bowed down to gods they did not know nor was authority given to

    them to do so.

They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did notknow, gods he had not given them. Deuteronomy 29/26

The Children of Israel were cursed and they were uprooted from their

land and scattered into another land:

Therefore Yahuahs anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all thecurses written in this book. In furious anger and in great wrath Yahuah uprooted them

from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now. Deuteronomy 29/27-28

Now in the Quran Allah says that the Children of Israel neglected their

    salat by pursuing their desires:

"Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the prophets of

the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the

descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When

the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and

weeping. But there came after them successors a(who neglected) alataand

pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil." Sura 19/58-59

a comes from the Arabic rootDad-Ya-Ayn which means perished, came tonought, passed away, became lost, left alone, neglected, unmindful, destroyed, wasted.

    Compare what the Tawrah says:

And the answer will be: It is because this people `azab(abandoned / forsook)thecovenant of Yahuah, Elohim of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when

he brought them out of Egypt. Deuteronomy 29/25

What was it that the Children of Israel abandoned according to the

    Tawrah?

"This is the word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh: Listen to the terms of thiscovenant and tell them to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem. Tell

them that this is what Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel, says: Cursed is the one who does

not obey the terms of this covenantthe terms I commanded your ancestors when Ibrought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace. I said, Obey me and doeverything I command you, and you will be my people, and I will be your Elohim.

Then I will fulfill the oath I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with

milk and honeythe land you possess today. I answered, Amen, Yahweh. Yahwehsaid to me, Proclaim all these words in the towns of Judah and in the streets of

Jerusalem: Listen to the terms of this covenant and follow them. From the time Ibrought your ancestors up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again,

saying, Obey me. But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followedthe stubbornness of their evil hearts. So I brought on them all the curses of the

covenantI had commanded them to follow but that they did not keep. Then Yahwehsaid to me, There is a conspiracy among the people of Judah and those w ho live inJerusalem. They have returned to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to listen to my

words. They have followed other gods to serve them. Both Israel and Judah have

broken the covenant I made with their ancestors. Therefore this is what Yahweh says: Iwill bring on them a disaster they cannot escape. Although they cry out to me, I will not

listen to them. The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to

the gods to whom they burn incense, but they will not help them at all when disaster

strikes. You, Judah, have as many gods as you have towns; and the altars you have set

up to burn incense to that shameful god Baal are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.Do not pray for this people or offer any plea or petition for them, because I will notlisten when they call to me in the time of their distress." Jeremiah 11/1-14

Time and time again in the Tawrah and now in the Qur'an the Most High tells the

Children of Israel to fulfill the covenant and to establish the Salaat basically keeping the

commandments, laws, ordinances, statutes that the Children of Israel agreed to commit

to, agreed to follow, agreed to establish.

Allah reminds the Children of Israel of the lost / abandoned covenant byaddressing the Children of Israel in the Quran:

"And O Children of Israel, remember when We took yourcovenantand We raised

above you the Mount (saying): "Hold fast to that which We have given you, and

remember that which is therein so that you may become Al-Muttaqun." Sura 2/63

"O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfil

(your obligations to) My Covenant (with you) so that I fulfil (My Obligations to) your

covenant (with Me), and fear none but Me." Sura 2/40

Now praying is in the Tawrah and in the Hebrew Scriptures but praying is not as

important as for us to keep the laws, commandments, ordinances, instructions of Allah.

I believe the most integral part of Salaat is following closely with our commitments we

valley in Your 'Inviolable House', our Lord, liyuqm alata. So make hearts among the

people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might begrateful." Sura 14/37

Allah says in the Qur'an that a covenant was made with Bani Israel (Children of Israel)

so we should be able to refer back to this covenant in the Torah and the Torah should be

able to validate that Salaat as prayer was established with Bani Israel.

Here is what the Tawrah says about Abraham:

Collins Co-build Dictionary defines commitment as a strong belief in an idea or system, especially when it is shown by your action and behaviour. If you commitment yourself

to a course of action you decide that you will do it and you let people know about yourdecision. In the context of the Quran, man is required to uphold his commitments allthe time when serving his Lord. Thus, it is a way of life. He serves Allah by disciplining

himself to observe the sanctions with in Allah's system.'

Salat is not in Qur'an as a ritual prayer. The Hadiths and Sunna books are rather full of

    contradictory statements.

However, there is NOT a single time, was the Prophet Muhammad

reported as telling the people the following:

    1) let me tell you how to perform your Salaat or

    2) let me tell you the number of Rakaat in the salaat.

If Salat really meant prayers and Had the Prophet Muhammad willed or was of his

duties to teach the community their prayer and the number of Rakaat, he would have

done such that, and in the public arena for everyone to witness it. It never happened.

Allah says in the Qur'an that a covenant was made with Bani Israel (Children of Israel)

so we should be able to refer back to this covenant in the Tawrah and the Tawrah

should be able to validate that Salaat as prayer was established with Bani Israel.

The Children of Israel those who were of Ibrahim's lineage established

We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. And We

made them leaders, guiding by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to dogood deeds, wa-iqma (and establish) alati, and to practice regular charity; and theyconstantly served Us." Sura 21/71-73

Consequently, the Prophets of the Israelite bade their nations to offer the

none save Allah (only), wabil-wlidayni (and with the parents) i'snan (be good) andto kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; wa-aqm

alata wat zakata. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse." Sura

    2/83

"Indeed Allah took the covenant from the children of Israel, and We appointed twelve

leaders among them. And Allah said: "I am with you if you Iqamat-as-salat and give

Zakat and believe in My Messengers; honour and assist them, and lend a good loan to

(in Paradise). But if any of you after this, disbelieved, he has indeed gone astray from

    the Straight Path." Sura 5/12

Now what did Abraham do he established the Salata by obeying Allah by keeping the

    commandments, decrees, instructions....

Allah says in the Qur'an that a covenant was made with Bani Israel (Children of Israel)

so we should be able to refer back to this covenant in the Tawrah and the Tawrah

should be able to validate that Salaat as prayer was established with Bani Israel.

    Allah says:

"Is one who knows that the truth has been sent down to you from your Lord like one

who is blind?. Only those with understanding will remember. Those who fulfill Allah's

pledge, and they do not break the Covenant. And they DELIVER what Allah Has

ordered be delivered, and they reverence their Lord and they fear the terriblereckoning." Sura 13/19-21

So the Children of Israel were bound by the 'covenant of delivery'to make public the

Book of Allah...and for those who decide to break this 'covenant' is a severe retribution:

"As for those who break the pledge of Allah after making its covenant, and they SEVER

what Allah ordered that it be delivered, and they corrupt in the earth; to those is a curse

and they will have a miserable abode." Sura 13/25

Basically, this is the Salat in a nutshell, thus it is the implementation of the 'Law /Commandments / Instructions / Ordinances / Decrees' that the Children of Israel have

    committed to undertake...

"O ye who believe! When ye rise up for salat, wash you faces, and your hands up to the

elbows, and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. And if ye are

unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh

from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to

clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not

place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace uponyou, that ye may give thanks. And remember the favor of Allah upon you and His

covenant with which He bound you when you said, "We hear and we obey";and fear

Allah. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts." Sura 5/7-8

    28

When did we say 'we hear and obey'?

"And your Lord took for the children of Adam, from their backs, their progeny; and He

made them witness over themselves: 'am I not your Lord?'. They said: 'yes, we bear

witness'.Thus you cannot say on the day of resurrection that you were of this

    unaware'. Sura 7/172

Also salah appears as a combination of pauseand calmly think about

    that.

When we see the word in a psalm or in Habakkuk 3, we should pause to carefully

weigh the meaning of what we have just read or heard, lifting up our hearts in praise to

    Allah for His great truths.

"All the earth will worship You and sing praise to You. They will sing praise to Your

    name."Salah." Psalm 66:4

In the Hebrew definition Salah means:

    1) to lift up, exalt

    2) a technical musical term probably showing accentuation, pause, interruption

accentuation means the action of emphasizing something.

So Salah means to lift up, exalthow do we do that daily by pausing throughout our

day reflecting on Allah's laws, commandments, ordinances, decrees, statutes,

instructions by obeying His Voice, His Messengers.

"Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

    Selah" Psalm 4/4

"(Abraham said): "Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated

valley in Your 'Inviolable House', our Lord, liyuqm alata. So make hearts among thepeople incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be

    grateful." Sura 14/37

"Indeed Allah took the covenant from the children of Israel, and We appointed twelve

(in Paradise). But if any of you after this, disbelieved, he has indeed gone astray fromthe Straight Path." Sura 5/12

Now it makes sense why we should take a few minutes throughout the

    day and establish Salah:

"aqimi salata at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and [also] the

Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed." Sura 17/78

But the majority of Muslims would make us believe that Salah is a ritual prayer ofreciting the Qur'an even though half of Muslims who recite and who listen to the

Qur'an being recited don't know what the hell the Imam is reciting.

I mean literally how can you ponder over the commandments, the laws, the

instructions, the decrees, the ordinances when you don't know what is being recited in

the Salah? Salah is about reflection, pausing to see what Allah demands of us in the

    covenant we made with Him.

"If you follow the majority of the people on earth, they will divert you from the path of

Allah. They only follow conjecture, and they only guess." Sura 6:116

"Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not

pervert justice by siding with the crowd..." Exodus 23/2

"Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and

increase and may enter and possess the land Yahweh promised on oath to your

ancestors. Remember how Yahweh your Elohim led you all the way in the wilderness

these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart,

whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to

hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had

known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that

comes from the mouth of Yahweh. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not

swell during these forty years. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his

son, so the Lord your Elohim disciplines you." Deuteronomy 8/1-5

"Observe the commands of Yahweh your Elohim, walking in obedience to him and

revering him. For Yahweh your Elohim is bringing you into a good landa land withbrooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with

wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; a land wherebread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and

you can dig copper out of the hills." Deuteronomy 8/6-9

In the Tawrah what was it that the Most High instructed Abraham and

the Patriarchs and the Children of Israel to keep:

Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them;that you may live, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh, Elohim of your

fathers, gives you. " Deuteronomy 4:1

"Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the

sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nationis a wise and understanding people. Deuteronomy 4/6

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, [even]ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone." Deuteronomy 4/13

"And Yahweh commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye

might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it." Deuteronomy 4/14

"Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh Elohim, and his testimonies,

and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee." Deuteronomy 6/17

"Yahweh shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if

thou shalt keep the commandments of Yahweh Elohim, and walk in his ways."

    Deuteronomy 28/9

"And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that

is], Yahweh: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matthew 19/17

So the believers of the Scriptures are bound by the 'covenant of delivery' to make public

the Book of Allah...and for those who decide to break this 'covenant' is a severe

    retribution:

"As for those who break the pledge of Allah after making its covenant, and they SEVER

what Allah ordered that it be delivered, and they corrupt in the earth; to those is a curse

and they will have a miserable abode." Sura 13:25

Abraham speaks of 'keeping' Salat for him and his family.

" Praise to Allah , who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord

is the Hearer dui (of supplication / prayer). My Lord, make me muqma (anestablisher) alati, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my

    supplication." Sura 14/39-40

Notice, Abraham said that Allah is the Hearer of supplication / prayer:

"Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer dui (of supplication / prayer)"

Again, dua'a is connected to a response when you supplicate, pray you are praying

hoping for a response from the One you supplicating, petitioning, praying to.

Then we have salat in the next ayat:

"My Lord, make me muqma (an establisher) alati, and [many] from my descendants.

Our Lord, and accept my supplication."

What did Abraham establish in terms of the Salat? In the Tawrah the Most High says

Abraham became great because he obeyed / followed the Most High's voice and

    commandments:

"Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept mishmereth (my charge),my

commandments, my statutes, and my laws." Genesis 26:5

In Hebrew the word mishmereth means:

guard, charge, function, obligation, service, watch guard, watch, house of detention or

confinement keeping, preserving charge, injunction office, function (ceremonial)

Moses is told to establish the Salat:

"Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me wa-aqimi (and

establish) alata (the salat) for My remembrance." Sura 20/14

    The Tawrah says:

"These are the commandments and the judgments, which Yahuah commanded by the

hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho."

    Numbers 36/13

"And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the

commandments which I command you this day." Deuteronomy 27/1

    After Moses, Joshua took charge:

"But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant

of Yahuah charged you, to love Yahuah your Elohim, and to walk in all his ways, and to

keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart

and with all your soul." Joshua 22/5

    So when Allah says:

"When qaaytumu (you have performed) alata, remember Allah, standing, sitting and

reclining. And when ye are in safety, fa-aqm (observe) alata. Indeed, alata is at fixedtimes has been enjoined on the believers." Sura 4/103

We are to take time out, pause through out the day and read His Revelations rather it be

the Tawrah, the Injil, the Qur'an so we can reflect upon what is being said to us in our

obligations, commitment and then proceed to apply it. We have to pay heed to the

commandments, and the laws and strive to walk in His ways....

Salat the way that the Qur'an and the Tawrah describes it has its purpose and it is not

an objective in itself but merely a means towards achieving an objective.

  • 8/14/2019 Salat debunked by the Tawrah and the Quran

One of the aims of Salaat is to be mindful of Allah in the following:

    1) His Laws

    2) Commands

    3) Guidance4) Instructions

    5) Recommendations

    6) Proscriptions

    Allah says:

"So remind, if -dhik'r (the reminder)should benefit; He who fears will be reminded.

But the wretched one will avoid it - He who will be flung to the great Fire. Neither

dying therein nor living. He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself. Andmentions the name of his Lord faall (and keeps the commandments / instructions)."Sura 87/9-15

Allah tells us that the Reminder will benefit the believers:

"they are those whom Allah had guided. So follow their guidance. Say: "No reward I

ask of you for this. It is only dhik'r (a reminder)for the 'Alamin." Sura 6/90

Allah tells us to assume or take on the attributes of the Most High in all we do and this

is what establishing Salat suppose to do for us.

"ib'ghata lahi (Assume the attributes of Allh)! waman (and who) asanu (is better)

    than Allh
