Name : The meadow of Sagnes (In french : Pré des Sagnes) Name of location : Mont Dore owner : private GPS : Latitude : 45.569773 Longitude : 2.795940 Altitude : 1212 meters Access : Accessible on foot by the path of a thousand drops (climb in 45 minutes), by funicular (open from May to October) or by road (3km) following the D645 to the clearing of the Capucin Salon. Length of itinerary : By foot 15/20 minutes (30/40 minutes loop). Facilities : parking of Salon du Capucin. Location of artwork : Meadow Sagnes (at the bottom of the meadow, overlooking the Capuchin). Description of the site : The proposed site is located in a clearing in the heart of a predominantly forested fir forest. The clearing covers a large area, the site is at the bottom of the clearing. It offers a view of the summit of the Capucin Peak which is cut in the sky and at the treetops. The Capuchin, black volcanic eminence, is a summit of 1,462 meters. Its name is due to its shape of pointed hat resembling the cap of the monks of the same name. 800 000 years old it is among other frequented by climbing enthusiasts. The site is called meadow Sagnes. Etymologically, sagne means "marshland" and "peat bog" in regionalism. Indeed, the ground is wet, where swamp mosses grow. However, the soil remains stable, especially at the bottom of the clearing. In winter, the area is dedicated to the practice of cross-country skiing, in summer it is dedicated to climbing, Via Ferrata and tree climbing with the Parc Mont Dore Aventures located next to the car park. Mont Dore Aventures also offers an Explor'games "In pursuit of Mornac" whose route passes on one side of Near Sagnes (game geocalised tablet). Mornac is a highwayman who raged in the region in the nineteenth century. In the 1880s, he inspired terror, no man dared to go out at nightfall until the gendarmes arrested him and imprisoned him in the prison of Cayenne. Technical features of the site : Access by all-terrain vehicle by forest track. Best point : Discovering this green meadow with an unobstructed view, in the heart of a dense forest, is a real surprise for visitors. Note : The site is located on a Sagne, the place can be marshy, especially during the period of assembly. It is a fragile site benefiting from environmental protection, so the impact on the ground must be extremely limited. Thus the work and its access will be surrounded by a light fence, and the work will be in the immediate vicinity of the path.
