The Magic SilverspoonA Fairy Tale from the Elder Red – Green Writers – Etwinning

Event on Creative Writing from 15 – 23 December 2012

Princess Elina was the woman with the brightest, longest, shiniest, blondest hair one has ever seen. No wonder - there were most people with bright hair colour in her kingdom that was far, far away, big and and cold like Antarctica.

Every morning, when she got ready for breakfast, Elina combed her long, blond hair with a beautiful hairbrush. It was a heirloom from her grandmother who died two years ago.

This morning, she decided to go on a walk after breakfast. She was not able to leave the castle so fast, since she had a terrible headache from a dance they had last night. Her father, King Alejandro, had his birthday and so everyone at court was in a terrific mood when they celebrated.

So, she took some painkillers and left for a walk.

Taking huge, fast steps, Elina reached the beach that was about half an hour straight walk from her home. Arriving there, she could see that the seals had had babies. Now, a lot of cute, fluffy, soft little baby seals were playing in the sunshine. She loved that scenery and above all the baby seals with their almost black, round eyes which seemed to express a neverending feeling of depth, cosiness, warmth and kindness.

Elina was thinking how happy these seals were and especially one of them, having something on his mouth and playing with it, turning it around and around! Was it a ball as it is usually to be seen in some water parks? No, it was not round, not at all! The princess decided to go closer and had a look at this seal. So did she and she realised that it was playing while having a big silver spoon on it's mouth! What a strange scenery!Where did this spoon come from? She would have liked to take it - but how? Princess Elina went next to the seal and saw herself in the silver spoon!

But no, it wasn't her, as it should be, as the silver is like a mirror! It was somebody else - a woman with long hair as hers but a different face, not as beautiful as Elina's.

She touched it and suddenly, the woman in the mirror was magnified. She stood, like at the stage of a big theatre, in front of her and said: "You will wonder who I am but this was supposed to happen. I have waited a thousand years to be freed from the spell that was put on me by a witch a long time ago. Thank you for doing that. I am Princess Alice and used to live in your castle. When we were in a big war with our neighbour kingdom, a bad fairy came to us and put a spell on me because my father, King Richard was so stern and adamant. Now, I have come to life again."

Elina answered: "I am glad I saved you. You must be hungry. Let us go back home." So they did. On their way back home they went along the beach. Abruptly, Alice bent down and picked up a big shell. It was of white-brownish colo, very equable and looked like a diamond in the sunlight. "This is for you as a sign of appreciation for releasing me from the spell." Saying so, she gave it to Elina. Princess Elina smiled and thanked her.

Glancing at it she realized that there was something shiny. She touched the opening and like from a magician, it automatically opened. There was a diamond ring in it. What a glamour! She put it on her finger and it fit. They both went to their castle and had lunch together. And they all lived happily ever after.
