The Bucks County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is engaged in an international project assisting the Kuntu Village Schools in Ghana to enhance the quality of life and enrich the educational experience for the children of the Village Schools.
• The Kuntu Village is located about three miles south of the town of Salt Pond, on the Atlantic Ocean.
• Salt Pond has a population of approximately five thousand people.
• Peace Corps volunteers often train in Salt Pond.

• There are four villages adjoining the Kuntu Village.
• The total population of the four villages is approximately five hundred adults and five hundred children.
• The Chief of Kuntu is also the Chief of three other villages, and each village has a Sub-Chief in Kuntu.

• The children of all four villages attend the Kuntu pre-school, elementary school, and junior secondary school (JSS).
• There are about 350 students in the Kuntu schools.

• Although there are a few skilled workers, the majority of the residents of the village are laborers in the salt ponds or farms.
• Workers in the salt ponds earn about $1.00 USD per day; farm workers earn about $3.50 USD per month.

• The Bucks County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has adopted the Kuntu Village and its Schools.
• Our first shipment of goods and supplies arrived in the village in January, 2005. The shipment included: school supplies, construction materials, clothing and furniture.

• Collaborated with Dr. Perry Kirklin, Sub-Chief for Development of the Kuntu Village Nkosohen Committee, USA
• Collected soccer equipment
• Prepared a grant proposal for the project
• Collected school supplies
• Secured donations of story books
• Secured clothes
• Provided scholarships

The Bucks County Chapter of The Links, traveled to Kuntu Village and met with Scholarship Recipients .
• On-site visit to village (August 2007)
• Secure funding:• build a playground• sports field
• Continue to collect: • story books• clothes and • school supplies
• Provide scholarships (10)
