B-FAST is an interdepartmental unit, in which each ministry manages a number of modules. It uses staff from local and federal authorities for the modules managed by Defence and Foreign Affairs. The staff of the modules managed by Public Health are mainly volunteers. Medical tasks are performed by volunteer doctors and nurses from a large number of hospitals. Logistical support is provided by volunteers from many different technical backgrounds.
