According to Edgar Dale, we remember: 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we see and hear, 70% of what we discuss with others/what we say and write, 80% of what we personally experience, and 95% of what we teach others! Small groups will give us the opportunity to take our discipleship to the next level. We hope this series will serve as a guidebook or a manual as to how we can all discover the satisfying spiritual experience that should be a part of our daily existence. Having the Power of God in Your Life

Most Christians have the desire to experience God’s power in their life on a daily basis. However, with work,

school, kids and more, it becomes difficult sometimes to sense that power within us. The churches of Central

Illinois have assembled together to try to address this critical need. Starting on Sunday, September 11th we

will begin a series called, Finding Your Way Back to God.

We’re not suggesting that you have left God or that He has left you. But we do want to give you the tools and

the resources to make the 2016-17 year your best year ever! Ninety-two percent of Americans say they believe

in God, but many have never felt connected to Him in a powerful way. Longing for God is a universal experi-

ence and studies show that people that journey towards God do so in a pattern that uncovers five awakenings:

1.) Your awakening to longing: “There’s got to be more.” 2.) Your awakening to regret: “I wish I could start

over.” 3.) Your awakening to help: “I can’t do this on my own.” 4.) Your awakening to love: “God loves me

deeply after all.” 5.) Your awakening to life: “Now this is living.”

Over the course of the next several weeks you will hear a lot more about this exciting series. We are consider-

ing several ways to make these messages stay with us and “live’ with us. One of those ways is the implemen-

tation of small groups. Maybe you’ve heard of other churches using them and calling them life groups or

neighborhood groups. They will help us bring these truths to light, tighten up our fellowship and shepherd-

ing, and basically give us a chance to get to know each other better and establish friendships that will span

eternity.

You will see, read, and view announcements about all these things soon. We ask you to consider ways that

you can help and ways that you can get involved. According to Edgar Dale, we remember:

10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we see and hear, 70% of what we

discuss with others/what we say and write, 80% of what we personally experience, and 95% of what we teach

others!

Small groups will give us the opportunity to take our discipleship to the next level. We hope this series will

serve as a guidebook or a manual as to how we can all discover the satisfying spiritual experience that should

be a part of our daily existence. And if this stuff is what we’re going to be doing when we get to heaven, it

makes sense to be doing it now! To that end I remain… Joyfully serving Him,

Jeff Mayfield - Senior Minister - [email protected]

Ready To Ride

I’m at camp this week. I am the dean of High School Cycling Camp at LGCC and look for-

ward to seeing what unfolds this week. Like Horse Camp, Fishing Camp, and the wilder-

ness options, we’re a little less traditional than a regular week on campus. I have tried to

make it different than Jr High Cycling Camp as well, rather than just adding miles to the

days. This is the fourth year for this particular week of camp. This year, we hope to build on

the success of the last 3 years and learn from some of our mistakes. We have three “road”

days, two “trail” days, and we’ll travel to the state of Chicago to ride on the velodrome

(cycling track) in the Northbrook Parks District. It’s a long week, but is an absolute hoot.

Please add an Alberta Clipper or Polar Vortex to your prayer time for the coming week. Oth-

erwise, continue to pray for all our youth events throughout this summer, from weekly events

to weeks at camp, that our students would know Christ better and make him known. It’s a

fun time around here. I’m looking forward to next week, but the rest of the summer as well.

Pedal to the metal!

Be sure to include these dates for your Jr. & Sr. High students on your summer calendars as

well: July 9: fun at the Campout @ Moraine View, July 14: Happy Meal w/ Chicken strips;

the July 22 date for Sky Zone in Springfield has been postponed; July 28: Happy Meal: BBQ;

Aug 19: Cornbelter’s game (RSVP); and Aug 21: Le Roy churches Youth Group Water

Games! Call us in the office (962-6491) to get more info and to RSVP for the events.

VBS is less than a month away!! We have a few people in place but can always use more. We

have need of group guides and few other roles. Check out our list in the foyer or, even better,

online at www.LeRoyChristianChurch.org to see where you can help out (contact Laura for

more details). VBS is always a great week around here, so be sure to be a part of the action.

The big week happens August 7-12. Get on the list! Enjoy your summer,

Joe Willis - Associate/Youth Minister - [email protected]

Treasurer’s Report - Health of Le Roy Christian Church/2016 First Quarter Update

Thank you all for the giving of your time, your gifts and your prayers to know, show and share

the love of Jesus! There is a lot of excitement and good things occurring at Le Roy Christian

Church right now. There are many new faces and families regularly attending services. Partici-

pation in youth activities, adult small group studies and outreach activities are all booming.

Weekly attendance for Sunday services is averaging 215 which is above the weekly averages

from 2014 and 2015. Additionally, we are just over a year away from paying off the mortgage on

our church building.

We do have room for improvement in our weekly giving trend. For the last twelve months,

weekly giving is under our weekly budget needs by roughly $1,100 each week. This negative

trend reduces the reserve funds in the church’s operating budget and over time may limit our

ability to deliver the various services at Le Roy Christian Church.

Once again, thank you for the giving of your time, your gifts, and your prayers. It is an exciting

time at Le Roy Christian Church for Knowing, Showing, and Sharing the Love of Jesus!

Respectfully Submitted, Alan Loy, Treasurer

Visioning Thoughts – Servant Leaders

The mission of the Le Roy Christian Church is: “Knowing, Showing, and Sharing the Love of Je-

sus”. This mission is central to all of the services and programs of our church. As we have thought

about and prayed about the mission of our local church a vision of where we are headed is starting to

take shape.

We see God working through our church in many areas. Many new faces and families are regularly

attending services. Over the last two years, the numbers of baptisms and new members has signifi-

cantly increased from previous years. Participation in youth activities, adult small group studies, and

outreach activities are all booming. Weekly attendance for Sunday services has increased from 2014

and 2015 averages. Throughout all this, we are getting really close to paying of the mortgage on the

church building.

As we step back and look at all of these positive trends we are starting to vision what the future holds

for us at Le Roy Christian Church. The vision thoughts are as far as we can see yet we feel they are

what God is drawing us to. We feel compelled to keep growing believers into fully devoted followers

of Christ through youth activities, bible studies and small groups. We do this so that people Know

the Love of Jesus. We feel compelled to regularly support missions and we feel compelled to keep

growing our regular attendance in Sunday services so that we learn God’s word and offer God inspir-

ing worship to enable us to Show the Love of Jesus. We also strive to provide meaning and impactful

outreach activities and provide welcoming and inspiring services and facilities so that we Share the

Love of Jesus.

As these vision thoughts take more shape from a spiritual perspective, programming perspective,

and/or a facilities perspective we will share them with you. We want to get your thoughts, feedback

and additional ideas to make the vision ideas even better as the Lord speaks through all of us. We

are anxious to see how these things will take shape and look forward to working together as a con-

gregation in fulfilling what God has in store for us here at the Le Roy Christian Church.

We thank you for the opportunity to lead and to serve here at Le Roy Christian Church. We are excit-

ed about where the Lord is leading us into the future!

Respectfully Submitted by Frank Lunn on behalf of the LCC Servant Leadership Team.
