Glycoproteins

• The polypeptide chains of glycoproteins, like those of all proteins, are synthesized under genetic control. Their carbohydrate chains, in contrast, are enzymatically generated and covalently linked to the polypeptide without the rigid guidance of nucleic acid templates.
