In 2011 Glastonbury Festivals THE COMMONwill be transformed into a sumptuous Latino playground

filled with delights from the vibrant world of carnival. Home to twisted voodoo parlours, debauched

bordellos, criminal party houses and a giant BULLRING complete with performances from MAJOR

HEADLINE ARTISTS.

Now in its second year The Common shot to notoriety in 2010 for its eclectic mix of spectacular circus performances and futuristic

raves. This year the field returns with a new look and Latin American theme showcasing a dazzling collective of alternative culture in-

cluding immersive theatre, breathtaking circus, dark puppetry, themed life drawing, luxury cinema, eerie automata, car-

nival sideshows and headline music acts from around the globe.

Set to be the most talked about venue of the year, the main focus of the field is the CAMPO PEQUENO a towering 26 metre bull-

ring complete with a giant fire-breathing bulls head! Hyped as THE place to be for Glastonbury 2011, hosted by festival favourites

Bearded Kitten and home to major headline artists, the venue is a fuse of Hispanic mayhem and astonishing performance spectacles

including The Commons very own La Tomatina. Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis said:Its going to be brilliant!

Already one of the most popular alternative spaces and renowned for dazzling performance spectacles Co-founders Kerry Veitch, Bridey

Watson and Steve Stavrinides are back bigger and better and preparing to create a late night area like nothing Glastonbury has ever

seen before.

Kerry Veitch said: This year weve really taken The Common to the next level. Weve spent months searching for the finest mu sic, arts

and entertainment from around the world to create something truly amazing and couldnt be happier with the results. Weve mov ed

away from the futuristic dystopia feel of that corner of Glastonbury and completely turned it on its head. Imagine the biggest, most

decadent and vibrant party ever and youre half way there. Think of it as an intense cultural paradise.. but with macabre undertones

Bridey Watson said: I spent my childhood at Glastonbury fixing marquees and sewing costumes so this festival is in my blood! This

year is the most excited Ive ever been about a project, what weve created is completely unique. Its our take on Latin Amer ican

culture the bright colours, sights, sounds and celebrations like the Day of the Dead - but with a Glastonbury twist, which means

nothing is quite as it seems.

2011 also sees the return of the Wall of Death,voted best thing to go and see at Glastonbury last year. This breathtaking

show is performed inside an 18ft high cylindrical wall with performers riding around on vintage Indian motorcycles!

Circus extraordinaires and Glastonbury regulars Bassline Circusmake a welcome return to The Common teaming up with Fairtunes

and International humanitarian aid organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres. Expect the best music from around the world; including

beatbox legend Shlomo,South American beats, hip-hop, dubstep, breaks, reggae and instrumental Latin-inspired performers as well

as cabaret performances and circus freaks!

Other exciting venues include Copperdollar,The Lost Picture Show,Photo Booth,Los Artistas Bohemios,La Arcada de Adavinos,Medi-

cines Sans Frontieresand Buchingers Boot Marionettes.

Steve Stavrinides said: As a Director of Fairtunes and Co-founder of The Common Im passionate about showcasing Latin American cul-

ture within Glastonbury. Weve put together a team of some of the most talented creatives around, including Natalie OConner, Mark

Copeland from the legendary Insect Circus and Alejandra Custa Director of Expressarte London, who specialise in representing Latino

artists and performers in the UK. All in all its going to be a fantastic year - now we just have to hope for some Latin American weather

to match!

Co-founders

Kerry Veitch

As a key figure in the cult 90s European free festival movement, Kerry developed the broadest range of skills and contacts as well as a

taste for exciting, forward thinking cultural projects. In the last decade Kerry has founded, produced or developed several impressive

and iconic artistic projects including the launch of St Pancras International Eurostar station, Trash City, Desert Storm Sound System and

The Unfairground & Block9 (2010). She is a Director of event production company Missmanage.

Bridey Watson

Growing up within the festival and event circuit, Bridey learnt the basics of production before her ABC. As a trained Multimedia Artist

and Event Producer, she has always been drawn towards large scale, multi-discipline projects. Her work includes legendary Glaston-

bury areas; Trash City (2008/09), The Unfairground and Block9 (2010), Carneskys Ghost Train and Guilty Pleasures. She is a D irector

of event production company Missmanage.

Steve Stavrinides

Steve has 20 years experience in the music industry starting with the free Party/free Festival movement where he cut his teeth before

moving on to more main stream festivals and events. He is now a director of the charity FairTunesand Noise Control Audioand is a key

member of The Common team.
