Through the intercession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary, I place in your care those I come to remember.

This information is needed in order to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to be issued when you are asked to be a baptism or confirmation sponsor. This also facilitates the preparation of a statement of contributions for income tax purpose.

If you do not currently participate in our envelope system and would like to start using them, please contact the Parish Office at 732-458-0220.

Gospel: Luke 24:13-35 Jesus reveals Himself to two disciples on the way to Emmaus. After explaining to them the passages in Scripture which referred to Him, Christ “took bread, broke it, and distributed it to them.” Then they recognized Christ and their “hearts burned within them.”

“And it happened that while they were conversing and debating Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him… ‘But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel, and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astonished us… and did not find his body, they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive’… ‘Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is far over.’ …how he was made known to them in the breaking of bread.”

Did you ever decide to go out and take a walk. It is refreshing and it can renew us. Did you ever enjoy taking a walk with another person, talking about life, family, what is important to you. Pope Francis has a wonderful book entitled’ ‘Walking with Jesus.’ He is the companion to the reader, telling us what is important as we walk with Jesus.

The Emmaus account in Luke’s gospel is so special. I am the unnamed person accompanying Clofas, and Jesus decides to join our walk and conversation. He asks what concerns me. For them it was the death of the missing Jesus. For me it is my eyes shielded from recognizing him in others. I too plead ‘stay with us…’ He does, in His word, in the Eucharist, in my companions in faith. He never leaves. May I recognize Him in the breaking of the bread and others.

Be with us as we journey through our losses and work towards acceptance, especially when it comes to significant dates without the physical presence of our loved ones. All are welcome.

The Daniel Plan WHAT IS THE DANIEL PLAN? The Daniel Plan is a groundbreaking healthy lifestyle program founded on biblical principles and focuses on The Essentials: Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends. The program offers an innovative approach to achieving a healthy lifestyle where people get better together by optimizing their health in each of these life areas. Each essential supports and influences the others, offering a practical step-by-step approach for anyone to follow.

The essentials of Faith and Friends are what we call the “secret sauce” that makes The Daniel Plan so effective. The program benefits are accelerated when done in a supportive community of friends because God designed us to thrive in relationships. We have learned that the process of getting healthy and staying healthy relies on the support and encouragement of friends. With the support of God and your group, you have far more than willpower helping you to make positive changes so you can be consistent and sustain your new healthy lifestyle.

The overarching message of The Daniel Plan is about abundance, not deprivation, and this is why the plan is both transformational and sustainable. The Daniel Plan teaches a step-by-step approach and offers simple ways to incorporate healthy choices into your current lifestyle. Throughout the program you are encouraged to rely on God’s power, and the application of dependable biblical principles.

If you wanted to come and missed the opportunity or would like to come again, classes are starting over from the beginning but will be a little different to keep it interesting for those who would like to join us again. The classes will run through May 22nd. Wednesdays 1-3PM in the APR & Mondays 7:15-9PM in the APR. All are welcome to join at anytime!

Before you “Re-Gift”

Before you “regift” that unwanted gift, please consider donating it for the Epiphany Parish upcoming Gift Auction fundraiser. That unwanted Nutcracker or 100th bottle of lotion is just the type of stuff that we are looking for! You can bring any gifts you have to the Religious Education Office. We are also in need of any baskets you may have received and would like to donate. Please remember all gift must be NEW with tags.

Garden Committee

If you have a little time, can fix a fence, remove brush…We need you! Spring has sprung and now is the time to spruce up our parish grounds. We’re seeking parishioners to help enhance our parking lot by removing the brush, fixing the fence and planting flowers and shrubs. Whether you have a green thumb or not, we invite you to bring your gardening and pruning tools to help with this effort. If you have an hour or two, or several days to lend with one of these projects, please call the parish office at 732-458-0220 or email [email protected]. Thank you.

Are you a Business Owner? Consider Advertising in the Parish Bulletin

Here’s another way to boost your business while supporting your parish.

Every weekend, Epiphany distributes 500 bulletins which are placed in the hands of every person attending the Masses. It is a “must read” for parishioners who wish to stay current with the activities and programs at our parish.

The majority of readers are local residents with families that have a strong commitment to the local area and tend to support businesses that support their faith community.

Based on this circulation, your message is presented thousands of times over a 52-week period.

If interested, please contact Carol at 732-458-0220 or email [email protected]

Formed.org

Our Parish has subscribed to FORMED.org, an online platform of the Catholic Faith, which can be accessed anytime, anywhere!

Use it on your computer, tablet, or smart phone. You can access books, movies, and other material for Adult Faith Formation, Marriage Preparation and Enrichment, Scripture Study, RCIA, Sacrament Preparation, Small Group studies, Teen Discipleship, and much more!

Here’s how easy it is: Go to our website, click the FORMED.org link, create a personal account, using your email. The Parish Code field is already populated with our Parish code QCFWHW.

Start enjoying the best Catholic content all in one place!

Interfaith Hospitality

Thank you to all of you who participated with our April host week. We provided a temporary home for four families with five little girls! It ran smoothly thanks to all of you! Our guests expressed their gratitude for the food, shelter and hospitality that YOU provided. A special thank you to Judy Henry, Kathy Chu and Fr. Mike for the donations of goodies to provide an Easter egg hunt, egg decorating and Easter baskets for the children. You may have noticed that we no longer have the trailer in our parking lot during our host week. That is because we no longer need the cots that were transported in the trailer since we have the wonderful air mattresses that were donated last year. Thanks to volunteer Walter Rushalski, who was the sole tranporter of the trailer to the next congregation for the last couple of years. And thank you also to all those who transported it before him. 2017 Host Week Dates Remaining July 9 - July 16 September 10 - September 17 November 26 - December 3 If you would like to learn about volunteering, and being a part of our wonderful Church of Epiphany, Interfaith Hospitality Network Ministry, please contact Maureen.

Reminder -The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary of providing shelter and supportive services to homeless children and their families on Saturday May 6, 2017 at noon at the Toms River Country Club. Please join us as the IHNOC honors their volunteer host coordinators and inducts Patty Cash, Kevin Downing, and Rita Kearney into the IHNOC Legacy Society. Tickets are $40.00 each and includes lunch. Please send check to IHNOC 20th Anniversary, 407 Lexington Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753 and include a list of guests names or call the office (732-736-1550) to make a reservation. Space is limited.
